Any predictions for the summer of fear sale?
If I remember correctly the prices weren't as discounted as shocktober.

this mornings rewatch. the presentation is really nice to my eyes, but after doing a capsaholic compare of the german bd, the hd-dvd appears to be softer with mild dnr in stills. in movement there is still a light amount of grain and it doesnt look all that bad at all. bummed out its only on an HD-15 with a Vc-1 encode. Could definitely be improved with a bd-50 and avc encode. after announcing The Thing, i'd be almost certain this will be announced at comic-con by Scream. we'll see....

Wow! That price is insane for the Return of the Living Dead deluxe edition. I believe it already has several bidders.

Also saw this for the Thing deluxe:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-THING-19...58438424&rt=nc

I've not paid much attention to Scream deluxe or limited editions until a few weeks ago. I guess people really ARE willing to pay something like 8-10 times the price of when they were ( very briefly...for the Thing, less than 12 hours) available.

That's totally obscene!! I bought my one copy of The Thing deluxe edition and didn't check but was there a limit to how many you could purchase?

Holy smokes. I didn't buy the deluxe edition for return of the living dead but if I had I would sell it. That absurd.

I'm just glad some folks keep throwing slips way!

Like it, or not, collectible packaging just moves the meter.

1500. I think ROTLD may have been 1,000. I'm not sure.

Does anybody think that The Midnight Hour will EVER see the light of the day? This movie is a blast and one of the best movies to watch for Halloween, IMO. Doesn't Disney own the rights? Is that pretty much a knell if so? The Anchor Bay DVD is SIXTEEN YEARS OLD and has been OOP for almost as long. That's ridiculous.

No way I pay that much for a movie. The most I've paid for a single film was $50 for the Fright Night 30th Anniversary Editiom from Twilight.

I'd buy it. I own a DVD copy I burned from a VHS copy. I watch it every Halloween.

They're not paying that much for the movie, they're paying that much for the extra slipcover and poster. If they truly wanted the movie they could simply purchase the normal release.

Yeah, and I was hoping to buy The Thing package off ebay for a decent price.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if the guy that paid this much was under the false impression that there wouldn't be a non-deluxe edition afterwards. I'm sure you'll be able to get a copy of The Thing for cheaper at some point. That said, I would still expect to pay a good 100 bucks for it :/ I'd suggest buying the regular version from Shout and then waiting for someone to try and sell the deluxe version's slipcover/poster by themselves.

I'll probably just say **** IT. I mean, it's just an extra slip cover/poster, right?

I'll just have to be better prepared for the next Scream Factory offering. Not of The Thing obviously... But on my next Scream Factory buy.

That's it. Not worth the extra money.

Ridiculous about that ROTLD & The Thing Deluxe on eBay.

I would love to have that on Blu-Ray even without features for except maybe the commercials for it. Peter DeLuise is good on his commentaries for the Stargate shows and would be cool to have him on one for this movie and hopefully a few of the others.

After seeing that I am very strongly considering it. $260 (minus the cost to purchase a regular edition of the film) would pay for a whole lot of other Scream Factory releases I don't own at all.
