I have been curious about this, but not quite curious enough to pull the trigger on the $30 Code Red blu.

It was on YouTube in full a while back. Not sure if it still is.

I pulled the preorder trigger on Demented and Tales from the Hood this morning. I can't wait to revisit Tales from the Hood. It's been a long time since my last viewing.

The last time I saw the movie was 1996, and my cousin and I were visiting a high school friend, whom we graduated with, at Auburn University. It was a Friday night and we were spending the night with him so we could see an Auburn basketball game the next morning. After going out that night, we stopped by a video store on the way back to his house, and rented a couple of videos. I lobbied for Tales from the Hood, and we decided to give it a chance. As far as I can remember, we all enjoyed the movie, and thought it was a fun time. I can't wait to see if my memory has deceived me.

As for Demented goes, I've never seen the movie. But, the trailer look like it was a low-budget early 80's cheese-fest that plays its premise straight. I can't wait to dive in and try it out.

Worth picking up the Code Red blu of it? I haven't really heard much about it.

I'm hoping we hear some information about a possible "Love is in the Scare" promotion again this year. I don't remember much about the sale last year, but I enjoyed the movie marathon and watched almost all the films that aired.

His Cannon contract brought about some insanely fun films (TCM2 as well). I still haven't seen his remake of Invaders From Mars but I'll eventually pick that up.
Invaders From Mars is definitely the lesser of the three, but it's insane too in its own way. I think how much you love it depends on your fondness for 50's sci-fi schlock, because it's an homage to that stuff. It's also much more of a kids movie than any other Hooper film.

Potential Sale news...

My original question to Scream Factory.

Quote:
Any plans for a "Love is in the Scare" 2017 promotion? I really enjoyed the entire thing last year and am hoping you guys do something like it again this year. I ended up watching all but 2 of the films as they streamed and only missed the 2 because of other obligations with my family. Everyone likes sales, and in general it's just nice to see/hear any news about what you're working on that trickles out during said promotions.
And their response...

Quote:
Scream Factory We love last year's marathon too. Unfortunately though we do not have another one planned this Feb. But...chances are good for a sale during Valentine's ❤

I think what they meant was that they don't have a marathon planned like they did last year, but still plan on having a Valentines Day sale.

I gathered as much but I thought it was funny wording.

Was going through my DVD collection recently and re-watched the two Kolchak T.V. movies The Night Stalker and The Night Strangler. Such good fun and that MGM disc has long been out-of-print, would love to see Scream issue these on blu.

They're both with Disney now unfortunately, so extremely unlikely.

Wow. With Disney? How the hell did that happen!?! Ah, well...have to content myself with the DVD (which does, thankfully, still look pretty solid). Thanks for the info!

Disney owns ABC. MGM had licensed the films from Disney, as had Anchor Bay before them.

I see The Naked Cage and Psycho have been announced for May. I wonder how many of the other known titles we can expect?

The Angry Red Planet
Slither
Lawnmower Man

I doubt we'll get as many as April but it would be nice to tick off a few more, and perhaps get the odd surprise. Ben and Willard would be great but who knows when they're coming. The Vagrant is a favourite of mine so it would be great to get that sooner rather than later.

I'm not expecting Slither and Lawnmower Man yet since I believe Scream mentioned they were scheduled for the summer.

Virus coming May 2:

https://www.shoutfactory.com/film/film-horror/virus

So far they've announced two titles for the 2nd May and one for the 9th, so still plenty of room for more (April had 7, on top of several other Shout titles). I imagine The Vagrant and Angry Red Planet are possible, remains to be seen where they're at with Willard and Ben.

I wonder if we will ever see a Collector’s Edition of “The Fly”? Most likely if they ever do it will be “The Fly 2”!!
