They did come down on their pricing recently in the last year or two, which I'll guess is why the deal Scream worked out was even considered financially feasible.

I think the masters are more like 10 years old, they were relatively new when the BCI DVD's were done. But I get it...by nature I am a glass half empty guy.
But with these films, in 2017, this is as good as it can be, and I'd rather these films are available @ 1080p.

For those who do not have all the older releases this is an amazing flood of titles.
Converts will be made, lots of people who will be new to these films will get to see them for the first time. ( some will hate them...lol )
Not quite as amazing if you own all the OOP DVD's? Well, maybe, maybe not? YMMV.

Scale is tipped in the positive for me when all is considered.
Maybe someday Victory will sell the package off, or change their minds.
Til then I look forward to these releases, which will have stellar new photo galleries freshly selected from the Thorsten Benzel collection
( Muchas Gracias Señor Lobo: Paul Naschy ), clothed takes & trailers we got.
There may also be another surprise or two.

I also love SORCERERS, and the Ossorio double bill is just perfect pairing.
Maybe we'll get MALENKA & DEMON WITCH CHILD down the line if these move OK? Or other Victory horror holdings?
Yo. Do you happen to know if the BCI DVD's that were presented in 4x3 were originally shot widescreen? I recently watched Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll and it was such a great flick I would love to see it in it's proper AR.

IMDB lists it as 1.85 : 1.

I love discovering hidden gems of the '70s and '80s that are only now receiving new life on Blu-ray, and Scream Factory's latest release Demented (1980) certainly qualifies. I remember seeing the box at my local video store as a kid, but never rented it. I watched it for the first time tonight, and loved it! It's like John Cassavetes, Meir Zarchi, old-school Wes Craven, and The Witch Who Came from the Sea all rolled into one sleazy yet oddly elegant, proudly feminist concoction.

Sallee Elyse has instantly become one of my favorite horror/psychodrama heroines, delivering earnest poignancy, a delirious lack of inhibitions, and hilarious line deliveries as a woman struggling to recover from a sexual assault whose sanity begins to fracture at her would-be idyllic California ranch. Well-directed by Arthur Jeffreys and with a genuinely creepy and memorable music score, the film elevates its B-movie leanings by focusing on character over plot. Toss in a bunch of joker-masked intruders and this hit all my sweet spots. Elyse's Linda is a layered protagonist--authentic, lovable, prickly, and sadly put-upon--whose road to snapping also, in its own strange way, becomes her salvation.

Demented is twisted bliss for every one of its 90 minutes, and the excellent, richly-grained PQ is surely the best this title has looked on home video. I would have loved more special features (interviews, commentaries), but I am happy this film got a high-def release at all. I was surprised how much I liked it. Hopefully this release will sell well enough to ensure the future release of more horror films from this era. I highly recommend it.

The House That Screamed wasn't released with a slipcover.

Major studio stuff with nice slipcovers are fun but they're a dime a dozen when compared to obscure titles like Demented, particularly if they haven't received a home video release in a long time. I know major Hollywood titles outsell these cult oddities by a wide margin and I'm disappointed in that but if we get some of these movies once in a while and they don't disappear completely I'll be satisfied with that.
Demented is in my Amazon cart right now, along with several other titles, for a big payday order on the 14th.

I love Scream Factory slipcovers as much as the next person, but the Scream titles without slipcovers are often the real treasures of this label.

And TCM2 has been out one year, so there's a chance it won't have one.

New interview with Jeff Nelson here which I don't believe has been posted:

http://ihorror.com/interview-scream-...y-jeff-nelson/

No revelations, but he speaks of his continuing desire to get Alligator and Hell Night, so it doesn't appear as though there have been any developments on that front. He sounds somewhat optimistic on Hell Night ('Hopefully we could').

I picked up The Outing/The Godsend from another member of the forum about 2 weeks back and decided to give The Outing a spin tonight for the first time ever. While not exactly blown away by it, I found the film entertaining enough to warrant future re-visits. I'm vaguely familiar with the films troubled release history and that it was more or less butchered for it's North American release, but I was hoping someone could state whether the original "The Lamp" cut has ever had a commercial release via any medium... (VHS/DVD/etc). If so, I admit that I just might be curious enough to try and track it down.

With Scream releasing all these 50s & 60s films. Im curious if there's any chance of getting Strait-Jacket or Berserk with Joan Crawford. They aren't scary by any means and actually quite ridiculous at most parts but they're still fun dang it. They released I Saw What You Did.

If I remember correctly the old Shout DVD of the Outing only included the shorter US cut but the Blu Ray included the longer cut with the opening lamp scene on the ship. But I don't know if there are any other scenes missing on the Blu Ray.

Correct about the DVD being the US theatrical release.
The link mentions a couple of differences between the 2 at the bottom:

Hell Night would be the best Scream release since the triple-punch of Carrie/Black Christmas/Child's Play for me.

Hell Night is definitely a different slasher than a lot of the 80's slashers out there. It's a lot of fun and is a big gap in the home video market.

This Hell Night remake needs to come out so that we can get the original back on the market.

Wow thanks guys. I was under the impression that the film was still heavily edited on Blu Ray and that there was still substantial differences between what was originally released and what we have, but that doesn't appear to be the case at all. Thanks for the info!

These two have been near the top of my want list for quite some time. Berserk! especially, as it was one of Crawford's only color films and I think its circus setting, with its rich color palette, lends itself well to the Blu-ray format.

I wouldn't mind Trog, either (which there is an existing HD master for -- it's available on Amazon, I believe).

Does Scream have a relationship with Sony? Sony owns BERSERK and STRAIGHT JACKET.

Last week's episode of FEUD: BETTE AND JOAN recreated a couple of scenes from STRAIGHT-JACKET, including the beheading in the barn. John Waters played director William Castle!

That is exactly what made me think of this when I originally posted last night. Haha I dvr-ed it and finally got to watch it last night. To be honest I had kind of forgotten these films and then that scene with Waters was such a trip handing out the little hatchets. I thought how have they not been released yet.
