I believe the issue with the Olive titles is that the licenses expire in different years. Since Shout said this was the last collection, it might be possible to release single titles as they become available, since they will still be keeping the brand alive by re-releasing out-of-print titles for the next few years.

They have these in store? I wouldn't mind giving them a gaze in person

I need help deciding on Escape from New York. I've seen bso many complaints about the transfer, and more than one aspect of it being less than stellar. I have the two disc collector's DVD from back in the day, pre-screan factory. I'm happy with that.

From a layman's perspective, is the transfer really that bad?

I don't own the MGM blu ray disc anymore for comparison but the quality difference I've read about didn't hit me at all when I first viewed SF's release (still hasn't because I don't own the other for comparison) but I'm pleased with the SF release. Curious to do comparisons though honestly. I can't say for certain if the MGM really is that much better though. There's one scene in particular of a computer screen that is much more "glowing" on the SF release that isn't as apparent on the MGM release which gives it a more blurred out look but you can still make out what the computer screen says when you watch the film.

If I've learned anything over the last 5 years it's that rarely is a Scream Factory release as bad as what folks often claim.

I imagine, with the exception of the Air Force One readout, I probably wouldn't notice things being off. I'm just not that technical with this stuff. Probably go back and get that steelbook.

Thanks for quick replies.

Just curious, would anyone happen to know who owns the rights to "The Clown at Midnight" (1999)? I haven't seen it in years. I'm not even sure if it ever had a legit DVD release.

Sonar Entertainment.

It was released on DVD as a double feature with a film called Phantom Racer, but it looks like it has gone OOP.

Can anyone possibly take a screen grab or photo of some of the SDH subtitles on the first Naschy set please? Where it's showing (CreAking door) or whatever?

I have just emailed Screan Factory to see if the second set is going to have English subs as well as SDH subtitles, but the person who replied to me does not seem to understand the difference between the two subtitle formats. If there's a frame grab to illuminate the point, he might understand.

The SF release is great. I sold off my MGM release after watching the SF disc.

When it comes to recent horror movies, Oculus doesn't get enough love...found that one genuinely creepy and unnerving.

(Btw, I loved It Follows and disliked The Babadook as far as the recent discussion goes.)

I loved Laid To Rest, would be great if SF could get the rights to that.

I find the hatred of "The Babadook" in this thread to be a little heartbreaking.

I genuinely enjoyed it and found it to be one of the spookier films i've seen in years.

This attitude is actually how I felt about "House of the Devil", to be honest.
