Agreed. People always talk about Ticks, and for good reason, but I think The Nest is hugely underrated. I loved it

Baskin and Autopsy of Jane Doe are both great. Beyond the Gates is flawed but enjoyable.
On the other hand, I was really disappointed by A Dark Song and am surprised at how much love it seems to get. There are some gems in the IFC releases - though I agree there are a lot of them that are mediocre. |

I've seen nothing but negative reviews about Extraterrestrial, but I love the premise.
Are ya'll telling me this is one I need to be on the lookout for as a Scream fan? |

With regard to the IFC titles that come out through Scream...
Killing Ground is a tough film to watch, and it's one of the most mean-spirited and dismal titles in my collection, but the filmmaking craft is so spot-on that it lends an uncanny merit to the proceedings. One scene, involving a child walking on a forest road behind a woman, is one of the most chilling moments that I've seen in my horror fan life. The Survivalist is another gut-wrenching movie (although it's basically Grease compared to Killing Ground). Once again, the impeccable technical talent involved elevates a drive-in B-movie into the A-list stratosphere. Post-apocalyptic life is no beach party, but this is a riveting endeavor. The Pack (2015) is an insanely intense and gripping movie that I love from the bottom of my heart. In fact, I've had a hankering to revisit it lately. The premise involves dogs who attack a family at their rural home. If you're one of those people who likes animals, then this may be too intense and emotionally taxing, but everything that happens is grounded in the reality of necessity for the survival of the protagonists. The Autopsy of Jane Doe is a win across the board, even if the conclusion somewhat falters. It's got one of the greatest buildups of any recent horror movie. I really need to branch out and check out more of the Scream/IFC line, because these low-key, yet competent movies need a bigger audience. I appreciate the above recommendations from others. I'm really looking forward to Desolation. I've always loved films about bad things that happen to people while they're camping, and I have a feeling that this one will make my day. |

The Hallow and Bite are both films I've heard a lot about but haven't gotten around to checking out myself. Both look like films I'll enjoy.

I've been loving the IFC/Scream releases, and they are some of my most anticipated releases from Scream. I had Autopsy of Jane Doe, Extraterrestrial, and Evolution on my list but removed them. Autopsy of Jane is one of the higher owned releases compared to others probably because it was common to see at local retailers such as Wal-mart. Extraterrestrial I loved, but assumed others wouldn't enjoy it near as much. Makes me happy to see that others liked it. Maybe check out VHS2 (not scream/ifc) but one of the segments is an alien horror that is similar. The other segments are also a wild ride. IFC has a lot of good films not with the Scream label and some DVD only releases that are worth a watch.

I really like IFC Midnight overall, though they do release the occasional clunker. Some of my favorites from recent years: Wyrmwood, Backcountry, The Hallow, Baskin, What We Become, Antibirth, Don't Knock Twice, Sex Doll, The Devil's Candy, A Dark Song, The Survivalist and 68 Kill.

So they do indeed have a Sony deal then. I'm going to hold off on these since they'll almost certainly be coming from Indicator at some point in a William Castle set, but it's exciting nonetheless. It will be very interesting to see what the extras arrangement is, because right now that seems to be about the only obstacle to a CE of Candyman later in the year. I'm expecting some new releases of Twilight Time titles too (you can guess which).
This also confirms some titles released on DVD by Mill Creek could be in play. With this and a Warner deal, they should be set for another 2-3 years, which should give them just enough time to agree something with Paramount. ![]() |

A William Castle set would be a great addition. Homicidal (1961) was Castle's answer to Psycho and was more schlocky, but it was fun. |
