Any chance of Silent Night Deadly Night 2 being licensed for Scream Factory release?

I don't think anyone in this forum HATES Scream Factory (well, maybe one or two). We're all big fans of the label or we wouldn't be here. There's no question that they've totally revolutionized the physical media horror market in the United States over the last few years with their many brilliant and creative releases. That being said, this is a discussion forum, where topics related to Scream Factory will be discussed, hashed out, speculated on, etcetera, so I don't get why people get angry over people discussing Scream Factory topics. If people want to complain about the number of steelbooks they're releasing, that's their right, because this is a discussion forum. If you don't want to read the discussions, just find another forum. And there's not nearly the complaining on here that there is on other label forums (see Dark Force Entertainment).

You make good points, I think my issue is that many times all the complaining makes it seem like nothing is ever good enough and there isnt enough appreciation for what we actually do get. Once something is released people are appeased for 2 seconds and then onto the next request and ultimatum "they better do this, they better do that or else", makes it seem like people need to stop being primadonnas and be a little more appreciative that companies make any effort at all. I understand we need to hold companies accountable, but a little appreciation isnt too much to ask either

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I get it. I don't like hearing hate-spewing in regard to Scream Factory. We all have our personal opinions. Personally, I don't care for all the steelbooks, but when you look back on everything they've released, everything they've brought to Blu-ray for the first time, it's amazing. I mean, Brainscan is coming. People just lose sight of all the cool stuff they've done when thinking about their favorite titles. I think Scream Factory overhyped themselves a little this year, and now they're trying to backtrack some. Either way, there's no way they can meet the expectations everyone has set for them for this year's end of year titles. That being said, I'm sure they have some very cool releases for ComicCon, and I'm excited to hear the news. And Scream Factory haters shouldn't be here anyway, as they don't bring much to the discussion. But ultimately, I don't think there's too many of those in this particular forum.

This is Universal we're talking about here, who have never had such a rule. there's no way Shout Factory would take the license to that film and then not do it up grand. It's easily on the same level as Creepshow (if not much higher) and would get similar treatment.
That's a super good point, and it by all means deserves a packed release. All I'm saying is an 8 digit SKU is typically used for boutique releases. We'll just have to wait and see.

Since it's the 40th anniversary of the original Halloween coming up, how possible is it for Scream Factory to release a collector's edition later this year?

Effectively 0%. Halloween's rights are currently with Lionsgate via their acquisition of Starz / Anchor Bay.

Gotcha. Thanks for answering. I just want a new release with a new transfer no matter who releases it.

Really? Hard to believe, those guys give a stellar treatment to movies that, well, if it weren't for them would never have passed the VHS format.

Those titles i believe might be announced at Sdcc as a special treat and i'm sure since Miramax has US rights to Inside, i'm sure vestron might do that.

And about whiney, just all of them relax and wait until next friday even the announcements of the extras to august's releases.

How much is it to license a film? I remember Code Red saying they spent around $30,000 for a film which was a small horror film. So my thoughts are that most films are between $30,000 to $150,000 depending on popularity it's might add up to more if they need to restore the film. So is Rubinstein asking for $6 million for DOTD? (which is insane) or some strange package deal for DOTD, Martin & Nightflyers for a few million!!!

They have for UK. Not yet announced for us. Hope it does though.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Hallo...lu-ray/209846/

Edit; that's for the blu; Thought the 4k was coming too. Looks like it might be 40th in blu only.

Edit; there is an Evil Dead 2 4k coming out in France.

Really happy and pleased with scream factory right now. I do hope they can get TTCM;TNG extended cut in hd. I did not know that was a problem for them. Have they stated this as a reason for the delay. I thought it was just Mathew and Rene trying to stop this from being released.

Also if it is a problem, I'm sure Kim Henkel would or could assist in the location of the elements.

What are you smokin, if they announced Critters, Deadly Friend and Candyman I would be all set. That would be my main dream list, anything else would be gravy. I have no problem if they double dip, just want a few new big boys to enjoy. The only other titles I might jones for is an unrated JGTH and Jason X but I have the german releases so can deal with it if they dont.

I've been wrong before but I'll go out on a limb and say again now that there is no way Deadly Friend gets announced at Comic Con. We need to think a bit more mainstream for those announcements. Not necessarily pop culture darlings like Beetlejuice mainstream (which I still think will turn out to be one of the announcements) but definitely not something as obscure as Deadly Friend. Critters is in that sweet spot as is Candyman though I have my doubts regarding the later at this point.

I’d say Deadly Friend is more mainstream/popular than past SDCC announcements like:

Attack of the Puppet People
Eye of the Cat
The House that Screamed
Women’s Prison Massacre
Blood and Lace

Unless I’m forgetting something, I’m thinking that next to Critters, it’s the most wanted WB horror title that hasn’t had a BD release.

I would definitely agree with that, but I'd also argue that Scream Factory likely has more titles at their desposal than they have in the past. Reviewing their older announcements though I very easily could be wrong. As a reminder to folks here's what's come the last 5 years...

[Show spoiler]2013:

1. Darkman
2. Nightbreed
3. Assault on Precinct 13
4. Cat People
5. Eve of Destruction
6. Saturn 3

1. The Dark Half
2. Monkey Shines
3. Candyman II: Farewell to the Flesh
4. Scarecrows
5. Phantom of the Opera
6. New Year’s Evil
7. Invaders from Mars
8. Dolls (Collector’s Edition)
9. Mad Max (Collector’s Edition)
10. Escape From New York (Collector’s Edition)

2015:

1. Women’s Prison Massacre (1983).
2. Blood and Lace (1971)
3. Troll (1986).
4. Ghost Story (1981)
5. The Guardian (1990)!
6. The Car (1977)
7. Nightmares (1983)
8. Death Becomes Her (1992)
9. Garbage Pail Kids the Movie
10. The Return of the Living Dead

2016:
1. Bubba Ho-Tep
2. Willard
3. Ben
4. Black Christmas
5. Poltergeist II:
6. Poltergeist III –
7. Dreamscape
8. Rabid
9. Dead Ringers
10. Slumber Party Massacre II/III
11. The House That Screamed
12. Dead of Winter

2017:
1. Silent Night Deadly Night
2. Misery
3. Drag Me To Hell

6. American Gothic
7. Darkman II
8. Darkman 3
9. Eye of the Cat

If they have Deadly Friend I'm almost certain they'd announce it at SDCC. It's a highly requested title and in terms of Warner fare one of the few 'new' titles destined to get the CE treatment (and probably the most high profile).
