Shout! probably holds an ownership stake, though possibly only a minority stake, in both of the Watchers films, through it's acquisition of Roger Corman's holdings. It's unclear who currently holds the distribution rights.

Watchers / Concorde and Centaur Films, Inc., present a Rose & Ruby...

Type of Work: Motion Picture
Registration Number / Date: PA0000455274 / 1990-03-06
Title: Watchers / Concorde and Centaur Films, Inc., present a Rose & Ruby production ; produced in association with Canadian Entertainment Investors No. 2 and Company Limited Partnership ; directed by Jon Hess.
Description: 5 film reels.

The fact that the copyright is assigned to Carolco means this film is probably controlled by StudioCanal, though there are a lot of parties that seem to hold a stake of some sort in this film. That catalog is licensed to Lionsgate for the foreseeable future. I'm under the impression that it's StudioCanal, themselves, and not Lionsgate, that decide what titles of theirs get released or not. Either way, there's very little activity coming from that catalog and until we see Lionsgate announcing more StudioCanal titles, Vestron or otherwise, I'm pessimistic on the chances of any release for the foreseeable future.

The second film might be controlled by Shout! Factory, through Corman's copyright, unless it's still under (perpetual?) license to Lionsgate, similar to Chopping Mall.

Honestly, given the number of parties involved in both productions, I wouldn't be surprised if there's a rights dispute that's monkeying up the works for any sort of release for either film.

I'd heard that... but why wasn't he like that the past twenty years where the film was released every which way from laserdisc to dvd?

A few years back, Rubenstein made a 3D conversion of DOTD and subsquently lost a lot of money on it because no one wanted to see it in 3D. The conversion apparently cost six figures, so now he’s charging a six figure sum for the distribution rights so he can get his money back.

Nearly found them all except Lifeforce, Day of the Dead and Night of the Comet which i got off eBay for fair prices.

Anyone else have all the slip cases for the CE's? Just thinking about selling them all in a big lot on eBay makes me though..

Have them all but 2. The first one they put out (Mystery Science Theater) and Garbage pale kids.

Don't plan on selling them soon. Maybe when I upgrade all those eventually.

Yea I still have 10 Scream slipcovers & 14 Scream titles preordered, so I’m thinking of selling them also once all the titles have arrived. My question is how do you ship them without damaging the slips?

Also is there a chance Shout could do a Stay Tuned release? I mean it’s a Warner title right? Or will they just eventually release it as a WAC title?

The few times I've shipped slips only I put them between 2 pieces of cardboard so they don't get damaged. Some people also ship them over empty BD cases.

Oh The empty BD case makes total sense. Thanks! They’re pretty cheap to get also.

I requested an extra dollar to ship mine with an empty case, and the few times it happened I simply used a case from a "lesser" title in my collection. It worked, but now my Tarantino titles are naked as the feet he has a fetish for.

Ah so they did licence Candyman from Universal... And as expected, they're collaborating with Arrow on the release.

Other points:

- Dracula: Prince of Darkness will have a new 4K restoration from the original negative.

- 'More than a few' Hammer films coming in 2019. I think Jeff might have said 'a lot'. The deal is with Hammer themselves, as people speculated. And they went quiet when The Devil Rides Out was mentioned.

- More NECA figures are 'in the works'

- They'd 'love to get' Valentine

- New scan of Creepshow from the OCN, supervised by the DoP

- Sounds like they might not be taking as many risks on obscure titles in future, as certain releases are falling short of expectations (The Spell was cited as one example, but then, I'd ask how many copies of that film they expected to shift)

- Exorcist 2 will contain two cuts (the 102 minute one being the other), both from new scans

- 'Still trying' for Alligator

Wonder why there's still no word on many of the Corman films; Wynorski came right out and said "I can now announce it, Sorority House Massacre II/Hard to Die double feature is coming from Scream Factory," but since that announcement disappeared the topic has totally died, and there's been no further word. Could it be a later in the year announcement, or have lawsuits maybe halted progress? Or was Wynorski just playing a joke (he jokes around frequently with posts). I haven't listened to the Shock Waves episode yet, but was Corman mentioned in any way?

I don't like the sound of that. Isn't everybody complaining that there's too many double dips The majority of my favorite Shout Blu-rays are the obscure ones like Ghost Town, American Gothic and Alien Predators.

Yeah, I actually prefer the more obscure stuff that Scream puts out more so then bigger titles. 2019 sounds like a year of less obscure and more re-releases. Shame
