So it's cool for Shout! to send out damaged products? We should't say anything about it?

This seems to lend extra weight to the recent Terminator rumours:
We know one of the 'other labels' is Arrow (for Robocop). Realistically, this leaves Criterion or Shout for The Terminator, and the latter seems the more likely candidate. Last edited by BarnDoor; 11-29-2018 at 07:48 PM. |

It's going to be the new normal in terms of pricing for almost every label, but especially the smaller companies. I'd love to see average sales per similar titles today vs. 5 years ago vs. 10 years ago. Licensing costs money. Manufacturing costs money. Supplemental materials cost money. I've been predicting for years that physical media will survive, but it will be more niche and will have to cater to collectors more and more by offering packaging, books, and supplementals that you can't get by buying a digital copy. All of that is going to cost. If a label was able to sell 10,000 copies of something 5-7 years ago, but only can sell 5,000 copies today, do you think you are going to be able to pay the same prices from 5 years ago going forward? You have to pay to play. So, it's pretty much get on board with higher prices or just get out of the game and go digital yourself. But, I will say that for the higher price one should be able to expect a higher level of service and quality to the product. That has been Shouts issue here, but I don't hold the prices against them, honestly. |

Anyone here seen Grotesque (1988)? This needs a bluray really badly... a majorly over looked horror film...
Starring Linda Blair, she and her family are vacationing up in the mountains when a group of gang bangers break in and start brutally murdering them... but when one escapes and they them through the woods, the gang soon realizes that they are being hunted by a viscious wild creature... justice will be served. Great revenge/ karma horror flick ![]() Last edited by jcole8882; 11-29-2018 at 09:17 PM. Reason: Errors |

I've seen this same mentality play out online with the Star Wars fanbase. Even if they released a great Star Wars movie that satisfied nearly everyone in the fanbase, some would still get more joy out of bashing online than trying to enjoy what is given to them. I'll never understand that mentality. I'm more of the mind that if I no longer enjoy a product or service, I'll just move on. That is voting with your wallet. Spending days telling people how you are "done' with something is just grandstanding at that point. |

My 2019 Shout Wishlist is for them to go a year without any PQ/SQ issues, defective discs, recalls, or smashed swag.
And also fix the Billy Jack set. |

I think it's fair for most of us to point out the oddness of Shout being the company with the most consistent quality issues, also being the ones with no (regular) sales and the highest prices.

I think if the increase in price had hit, but their QC improved and there were no mistakes for 3-6 months, people would've been fine with the price jump, because they would feel like their money was going to something. But instead, immediately after the price increase, the replication issue hit the country, and it might seem unfair that Shout gets those complaints too -- except that Shout it specifically advertising "Order direct from us and get it early." So people are paying newly-inflated prices to get releases late. It's probably fair to say that some people are too hard on Shout, that is the nature of the Internet. But most of Shout's problems are self-generated, or at least self-exacerbated. They are a weird hybrid of the worst aspects of small labels (less QC, higher prices) and the worst aspects of larger distributors (indifference toward fans, reluctance to issue corrections, locked-down release dates whether the release is ready or not). |

There’s been pictures posted here and elsewhere of posters being ripped and crumpled because some primate shoved them into a shipping tube. The pics I saw weren’t little bends.

The posters are another example of unforced errors by Shout. They charge extra for pre-orders with the poster without offering people the option of ordering without the poster, and then they ship the posters in a way that will almost guarantee damage. Of course people are going to complain if the poster that you require them to pay extra for arrives damaged! But they created the problem themselves -- nobody complains that the other labels don't tack on non-free stuff as a requirement for a pre-order. And they hide the extra charge so well that a lot of people still think the posters are free, and therefore think that anybody who is complaining about them is being a cheapskate.
