That's definitely possible, as I don't come here as religiously as I once did, so I'm not 100% on top of potential deals.

Some examples would be Poughkeepsie Tapes, Slumberparty Massacre 2 + 3, and American Gothic. And there isn't really a sweet spot, so much as whenever I get a little "fun money" for a movie, I go through my entire wishlist and find what makes the most sense. I went with Popcorn from Synapse last, because it was $20 and I had wanted it for a awhile. Would I have grabbed Poughkeepsie instead if it was $15? Probably.

Of course even the last batch of titles I got only happened because Hastings was doing their liquidation sales. So I was able to get all of those $22.99 titles for 50-90% off

Anyways, to respond to Brian, I own hundreds of Shout titles, and consider myself neither a fanboy or a hater. It's movie collecting. I grab the ones I want to own, from whoever released it, at the price points I like. Can't say I've ever had any real reason to complain about any of them.

Something like that...

Has anyone actually been stubborn enough to pass on one of their most wanted titles because of anything? I was never in that boat because I've never had issues through amazon, but just curious.
I'm not passing on titles but I am waiting. Waiting a considerable amount of time. I spend around $6,000 yearly on movies so I'm not hurting for something to watch. The value with Shout Factory titles is off right now so I'll wait. Maybe I'll regret it. But maybe not.

I was trying to steer it more towards a conversation (or debate?) rather than complaints and ripped posters. I'm typically more for straight movie conversation because a lot of these problems haven't affected me personally, but I think there's been some good conversation. Interesting to hear peoples thoughts beyond the initial flood of complaints.

Besides, need something to do until the next great announcement or update

Honestly I’m gonna be real here, I wouldn’t have even heard of Shout/Scream Factory without this site. Heck the Halloween set was the first title I bought even before hearing of the company. Then a friend bought Demon Knight for me last year on Amazon cuz I love that movie & the special features caught my attention. The first official purchase I made from Shout was Teen Wolf & Teen Wolf Too simply because of the posters & again the features were excellent & I was hooked. Amazon had a few of the titles on sale for October so I bought from them Jeepers Creepers 2 & The Howling. I got a few more titles cheap by winning bids on eBay. Probably about 10 movies. Return of the Living Dead was the first preorder I made but through Amazon. So by the end of last year I owned 15 titles from Shout. This was the year I went crazy & just started ordering left & right from Shout, especially after the SDCC announcement & now as this year ends I will have 72 titles from Shout/Scream with 5 more currently preordered. Now this particular thread can be informative at times and it convinced me to become a fan & supporter of Shout, so to me the complaining usually by the same 5-10 people is useless & irrelevant at this point. It certainly has nothing to do with the main purpose of the thread.

In the last few months, the only Scream titles I’ve purchased on release day were Critters and Creepshow because they were preorders I’d picked in at reasonable prices. It’s sad, but I’m willing to wait. They’ve got to come down at some point, right?
I used to get a lot of Shout releases at Bull Moose, but they can’t get them it seems. I want to support them and not buy on Amazon or other places, luckily I’m still able to find some older releases second hand. They used to really be supporting of Shout as well.

TXMoviebuff77 - I actually found out about them through this forum as well. I remember thinking no way! Didn't think some of these movies would ever have their day on blu-ray. Then once I saw the announcements for Sleepaway Camp and Ginger Snaps (two of my favorite horror movies) and it was all down hill.

There's a rights dispute between Arrow and Blue Underground over Django. We're not sure who's in the right yet.

Not sure if you're on instagram but Arrow posted a fairly detailed explanation about what's going on. I thought it was a pretty good post given the situation.

Man, it would be nice if that was not spreading like cancer to EVERY THREAD. The Django, BU, and Arrow threads seem like more than enough! Oh well.

SNDN2 - Slightly less than half the running time consists of recycled footage. Pass.

Starman. No new scan. Basically a port of the old Sony disc, just with some talking heads thrown in. A possibility of a 4K UHD release from Sony in the near future. Pass.

The Munchies Double Feature. Not really a big fan of movies involving hand puppets going berserk. Bought the the Critters set because I got a good deal but that set is sufficient to satisfy my hand puppet movie curiosity. Would've considered a purchase at less than $20 but at close to thirty bucks I'd rather throw money out the window. Pass

Texas Chainsaw 4. Thirty bucks for a bizarre sequel I'm not a huge fan of and lacks participation from the two main leads. The inclusion of deleted footage is a plus but they're SD inserts. I'm still interested enough to go for it but do I have enough titles to qualify for free shipping? Maybe I can fill the gaps with 2019 pre-orders.

The Mangler. This movie feels like it would make an excellent blind buy - at $15. At double the price it feels like I'm being taken for a ride.

I'll have to really think about it.
There have been two pre-orders out of about 10 I placed that I kept since this price hike went up for the October titles?? Creepshow, and the Mangler. The reason being I am a Stephen King completest and I have to own everything by him. So, I paid the extra prices. Creepshow was fine, as they went the extra mile and $34 was fine. Now, The Mangler, a movie I generously give a 2.5/5 grade; I do felt like I was taken a ride and I feel bad because I paid so much for it.

Now after saying that I will give props. The new transfer is excellent, as is the new interview. Add to the fact that this has never been on blu-ray before I am happy to have it in my collection. But, there will always be that thought of I got ripped off in the back of my mind. *shrug*

It almost makes me want to quit collecting movies altogether.

I'm still keeping The Lawnmower Man in my Stephen King section, because of the name association and since I still think of the author every time I think of the movie, but I am curious as to whether all of you would follow this same categorization strategy. Would you keep this movie in a Stephen King section in your Blu-ray collection?
Taken from a post yesterday. NOOOOO!!!!!!!! Great Owl. The movie has not a single element of the King story in the movie. It's a fine movie in it's own right, but the story is about some supernatural guy eating grass like a lawnmower. It's like making a movie about Batman and calling it Spiderman.

What's even funnier is that the video game adaptation of The Lawnmower Man is similar to Contra, with Job and Pierce Brosnan (I think) teaming up to gun down some fire breathing midgets and dragon monsters and what not.

That poor, poor source material

Fixed that for you...which makes the game even funnier knowing what happens to Marnie in the film.

If you listen to the commentary, the scene of the lawnmower kill is roughly the actual "story adaptation" in the film

I didn't buy the Scream release, so it's been a while since I've seen the movie, so I can't say. But, I have read the story (in the Night Shift collection I think??) and seen the movie, and at the time I watched the movie, I just couldn't understand at all how this movie came from his story.

Interesting though.

I was at Best Buy today doing some Christmas shopping for the kids, and happened to see a lone copy of the It’s Alive trilogy for $29.99. Not a great price, but at basically $10/movie, it was a “what the hell” impulse buy.

It was my first SF purchase since July.

Warning Sign - $18.99
The Deadly Mantis - $18.99
Tarantula - $18.99
The Witches - $18.99
Man's Best Friend - $19.99
Someone To Watch Over Me - $19.99
The Craft - $24.43
Kalifornia - $24.43
The Mole People - $18.99
