The two titles I would have paid full MSRP on, Candyman and Critters, I lucked out on and got fairly cheap with the accidental SDCC code.

I impulse bought Creepshow.

They have a lot of titles that interest me from the last third of the year but like a lot of people, I’ll wait for a sale. $30 for SNDN2 for example, is not something I could feel good about.

I’m happy they made some deals and reinvigorated the line though. I was starting to lose interest prior to this summer.

I got all of the 2018 CEs, except Sleepwalkers (which I think I'll be using Amazon points on tonight to get).

I also sold my Vincent Price collection (couldn't turn down that price), and I've currently listed my Deathstalker combination, and contemplating some of the other OOP stuff. I figure I certainly wouldn't spend $50, $100, or $250 on these things, so why wouldn't I sell them for that?

Years after a psychologically disturbed teenager named Billy dressed in a Santa Claus outfit and went on a gruesome killing spree, his little brother, Ricky, played by Eric Freeman (Murder Weapon), follows in his sibling's homicidal footsteps and is subsequently incarcerated in a mental hospital. During an interview with a psychiatrist on Christmas Eve, Ricky recounts the reasons behind his brother's crimes and how those tragedies led him to embark on his own deadly rampages. His days of inflicting blood-soaked punishments on the naughty are far from over, though. As Christmas Day approaches, Ricky has some grisly surprises in store for everyone.

The 1987 horror sequel, Silent Night, Deadly Night 2, which was directed by Lee Harry, has an 88-minute run time, and the bulk of the first 40 minutes consists of flashback scenes that are lifted directly from the original 1984 film. This extended retread takes moviemaking to a new level of laziness, but the advantage to newcomers of the franchise or to those who do not remember the events of the original is that most of the worthwhile moments from that first feature are shown in all their trashy glory. The final 48 minutes of the film cover new ground, as Freeman's hilariously expressive lead character is shown killing one unfortunate victim after another while making the best faces in cinema history and spouting off some solidly amusing one-liners.

Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 has one of my favorite kill scenes of any 1980s slasher movie. When he encounters a gangster in an alley, Ricky impales the man with an umbrella. After he shoves it all the way through the torso of the victim, the umbrella opens in a shower of blood as it sticks out of the man's back. This is basically the Mary Poppins movie that we all really want, but that none of us deserve.

Another highlight of this movie is when Ricky walks down a suburban street and shoots every resident in his path. “Garbage day!”

A car stunt during the above-mentioned shooting spree sequence is truly astonishing. That fact that nobody was actually harmed during the filming is a holiday miracle in and of itself.

Be on the lookout for Elizabeth Kaitan (Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood) as Ricky's girlfriend. I love one particular scene where these two characters go to a movie theater and are shown watching a scene from...(drumroll, please)...the first Silent Night, Deadly Night!

Silent Night, Deadly Night 2 is not a good movie by any conventional defining parameters, but it is certainly never boring. More importantly, it is a wondrous way for viewers to immerse themselves in the spirit of Christmas because it reminds us that simple things, like taking out the garbage or driving down a neighborhood street, are true gifts.

I'm still going through the extras on this Scream Factory Blu-ray, but the main feature itself looks good despite the source material (the original source elements are missing). The extended making-of brings all of the main players back into the fold. A short film with Eric Freeman and a location revisit are supremely engaging. The interview with effects wizard Christopher Biggs is excellent. I'm now revisiting the film twice over during the commentary tracks, because...well...it's that fun!

As a man walks out into his front lawn to take out the trash, Ricky yells, “Garbage day!”, and opens fire. This sequence is inanely over-the-top, but it's also universally relatable to anyone who has ever had a bad day.
Maybe I'm part of a very small minority, but I can in no way relate to either the perpetrator or the victim(s) here.

I meant that to be tongue-in-cheek, but, in retrospect, it does not quite come across well.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre Next Generation

Most of my purchases came before the new pricing policy. I was able to get Candyman, Urban Legend, and TCM Next Generation ship to home during the recent Barnes and Noble sale. I would still like to pick up the Critters Collection, The Seventh Sign, The House that Dripped Blood, Scream for Help, The Rec Collection, House on Haunted Hill, The Mangler, and Silent Night Deadly Night 2 at some point if I can find them at a decent price in the future.

How do you get points on Amazon? Do they have some sort of hidden rewards program?

I disagree with the consensus of SNDN 2 looking better than Hell Night.

I thought the PQ for Hell Night looked far better. No DNR and a more organic, naturally filmic appearance.

Discover card links directly to Amazon and has your cash back points as a payment option. Could be what they mean.
