Can't wrap my mind around a potential Criterion edition of The Terminator. I agree that it's more likely to come from Shout but this film needs some serious Criterion-style treatment. BTW, I must've missed the announcement that Terminator has been licensed.

Can't help to think Shout postponed Wynorski's Hard To Die because he blabbed about it prematurely. These indy labels are sensitive about this shit.

I’d like to see a trilogy released in the US if that’s possible. I believe there are different rights holders involved.

I hope that they will release a nice boxset with all three films and new scans of the extended editions in seperate cases just like the 'It's Alive' box. Part one came from Scorpion but it only included the shorter version. The German disc of part one had the extended scenes in the extras section.

I remember hearing that the Terminator had sound effects added it to for the blu ray. At the very least, give us the original theatrical version without tinkering, a strong remaster and encode.

Hard to Die/Sorority House Massacre 2 was legit confirmed was it not? Please tell me we have more confirmation than just Wynorski that these are getting released.

Unfortunately the problems with the BD's are more than just the gun sounds. THE TERMINATOR has been "tealed" like many other classics from that era. I didn't think it was a big deal until I got my hands on the fan corrected version. It's a revelation when seen with the old school color and sounds. The most important disc in my collection.

All we have to go on is Wynorski at this point but given the sheer excitement he shared when he initially made his post I'd say it's fairly safe to assume that Shout Factory does in fact have the rights to them and has something planned.

It's just preferences, that's all.
That is interesting. Is there any reason you specifically have chosen 1975 as the cut-off, or is it more based on a general experience that films made before just do not do it for you?

I have certainly met plenty of others who share similar sentiments towards older movies, and there probably also a lot of people who will rather watch paint dry than a black-and-white movie or even a silent one.

Personally, I could not limit myself so. But I also think that open-mindedness i the direct result of specific circumstances of my childhood (only a single national TV channel, and no VCR in my family until much later, so I pretty much had to make due with whatever was broadcast, which at that time happened to be a lot of classics - from Citizen Kane and Seven Samurai to 2001: A Space Odyssey with the odd Vincent Price movie thrown in from German TV, dubbed in German of course).

Being exposed to movies from all ages and genres early on probably did a lot to shape my taste and open my mind. Though of course I still have favorites like everyone else.

Another great announcement for April, this one's a real surprise - Grave of the Vampire coming 16th April:

Fingers crossed it's the uncut version. And hopefully they're putting out The Deathmaster also.

April must be another pretty full month considering that is now 3 new releases all set for April 16th. The 30th will likely see 2-3 new IFC film releases but that still leaves the 2nd and 23rd with nothing thus far. My hunch is that the 2nd and 23rd will see collectors editions which may end up being the only release on those days.

Don't they usually reserve the first Tuesday of the month for IFC releases?

That's 2 announcements already, could be a busy day. Liking these new lower prices as well.

With lots of these announcements being non-special editions, it seems like the price point is more attractive. Personally, I'm happy to give up loaded features and a slipcover as long as the movie is done properly at a price I can stomach.

My mistake... I was thinking it was the last Tuesday of the month. Flip what I said then regarding the 2nd and 30th. Also... The Brain!

I can confirm he said this. Apparently I wasn't the only one to ask him out that title at the convention.

Amazing news. I'v been bugging Shout about this for awhile. Now, I need to find another film to bug them about.

With this coming, and if the Street Fighter films have the Japanese audio, I think that will earn Shout a good 6 months of me not talking any smack about them.

Yes! The Brain makes me really happy. Love that movie. Superstition too, great month for me.

Curious what the CE for April could be now. Feels like it could be a big title

Agreed - I mentioned this a long time ago during the great pricing debate. I don't even have enough time to catch up on the movies I have, let alone special features. Could care less about new artwork or slipcovers - generally I like the original artwork better anyways. Much rather see a lower price point for a good quality release of the movie itself. Bring on more simple releases!
