Not necessarily. I am starting to wonder if they have gone through just about all the titles that they were able to license last year from Sony/Warner. July and August announcements may give us further insight into things. I expect that we'll see the rest of the Hammer titles everyone has speculated about over the next two months, but beyond that, unless a new deal is struck with some of these companies we could be looking at another change in the number of titles that are announced and the companies that they are licensed from.

I'll go ahead and throw out a prediction for Galaxy of Terror and Forbidden world 4k remasters in July, with Humanoids from the Deep 4k remaster coming in August. Those along with the remaining Hammer titles and maybe some lingering 50's horror are about all I am expecting to see during those months though I hope to see a few surprises as well. Given that last July was when the current licensing agreements with Warner/Sony became public it is also possible that deals are being worked right now for a new slate of titles (hopefully).

Don’t they have big releases saved for Comic Con?

Not sure about the status of the Sony or Warner deals (though I expect there are more to come from both), but they'll certainly have more StudioCanal (Vice Squad being one) and Fox titles.

Yeah my previous post wasn't meant to imply that they will have a shortage of titles to release, just that I'm curious how much more from these first deals with Sony/Warner they still have left to announce. I could see them shifting focus to other studios unless another deal happens.

Yes. All of them would jump at these.

Or even the “never on DVD, let alone Blu-ray” movies.

That's the Scream Factory I wish they were. It'll never happen. Someone above suggested the label will make more money recycling the same popular titles and, while I don't like it, I admit that's a fairly accurate assessment. OTOH, one of the insiders did say that they've lost money on some of the more obscure titles so I don't blame the company for wanting to avoid that in the future.

Agreed, they would be. Paramount owns so many popular titles. But does anyone with more knowledge of licensing than I know what the likelihood of this actually is? I know it's all basically guesswork, but it seems crazy that a deal hasn't been made between Paramount and Shout (or any other outside distributor).

If Kino made some sort of deal with Paramount they would have YEARS of titles to release.

I'm hoping their deal with Warner isn't already over as there a ton of titles there.

They also have a deal with Fox, but who knows how many titles that includes. Fox hasn't done any deals with a 100 of their films in the past, but who knows.

Also, Shout has barely touched the international market of films, and there are a TON there. That seems to be more of Arrows thing, but I would love it if Shout! were to include more international films.

I heard something about there being a new president over the home video department at Paramount. If that's true, maybe this is what SF needs to get some kind of deal going. We know Paramount will license titles here and there, but the whole "we aren't releasing something on Blu-ray if it has a DVD" statement is asinine. Just from the look of things over the last couple months, Scream Factory seems to be running thin on the quality type of titles they're known for releasing. A Paramount deal (like the Warner and Sony deals last year) would sure inject some needed energy into the label. I'm still hoping another Warner deal is struck, too. A Nightmare on Elm Street set would be gold. And I'd take a newly scanned Lost Boys, too.

Any deal with Paramount that doesn't include THE KEEP would be like a deal with Warner that doesn't include DEADLY FRIEND

This was undoubtedly a test run for the Warner/Scream Factory partnership. I am hopeful that both parties were pleased enough with the results to allow for further deals.

I dont know that they have exhausted quality titles.I like titles they do across the spectrum, but I'm about as excited as I could be for the Lugosi/Karloff collection and more Val Lewton and more Hammer.

this is a business after all, and they're not even close to any versions of evil dead came out on dvd from anchor bay. how many editions of star wars were there on vhs?

people who complain about prices... do you think that every title is just a smash success? I'm sure scream as lost money on more than a few titles. they take some risks that don't pan out. and thats fine. but it will catch up at some point.

would any other company have put out hellhole or blood and lace? what about hell night? the house that screamed? evilspeak? over your dead body? village of the damned (with extras even)? session 9?

and those are just the titles I own. what slumber party massacre 2 when the first one didn't sell? scarecrows? without warning? deathstalker? brainscan? the mangler? texas chainsaw massacre 4? howling 3? exorcist 2? someone's watching me? beyond the gates? autopsy of jane doe? a dark song? there's a ton more lesser titles that I'd never heard of and even knew stuff that wouldn't be available if it weren't for them.

would any other company have put in the work for the halloween box set? was anyone else putting out critters? how gorgeous is that creepshow release?

yeah. I wish more titles were in the $17.99 - 22.99 range. I would have way more titles. but I've been happy with all the releases I've got. and there's a ton more I stil want to add to my collection.

Do we really know what does and doesn't sell? I remember numerous posts stating that Ninja III: The Domination was a flop and there were price reductions to back it up. But then SF does a re-release. Certainly they wouldn't re-release a film that flopped.

Do we know what IFC films are dropping in June yet? It's strange to me that the announcements ended so soon this month. I'm looking forward to picking up "Pledge" when it drops in the near future and am always interested in what else is coming from IFC studios. It also drives me nuts that stuff like "Fatso" and "Jeffrey" are seeing a release from the Shout Select line over the much more widely known and requested "Cloak & Dagger" (1984)

If the Warner deal ends before they release Jason Goes To Hell, I would be surprised. I actually expected the Jason and Freddy movies to be some of their first releases from Warner.

I think the reason was "we were given an opportunity to do a new HD scan and we took it" or something similar. Still bizarre but it is what it is
