To note - while The Reptile is from Scream's deal with Hammer, Lust for a Vampire is a StudioCanal title, confirming they've likely picked up a few more Hammers as part of that deal (seems almost certain that Scars of Dracula and Horror of Frankenstein will be among them).

And a quick reminder of what's left from the various companies Scream have dealings with (I've only included horror/thriller/sci-fi/fantasy titles here)

[Show spoiler]Hammer

The Mummy's Shroud
Rasputin, the Mad Monk
The Devil Rides Out
The Abominable Snowman
X The Unknown
The Lost Continent
Four Sided Triangle
Slave Girls (AKA Prehistoric Women)
The Viking Queen

StudioCanal

Scars of Dracula
Blood from the Mummy's Tomb
Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde
To the Devil... A Daughter
Demons of the Mind
Straight on Till Morning

Warner

Curse of Frankenstein
Crescendo
Hysteria
She
Moon Two Zero

Sony

The Damned
The Stranglers of Bombay
The Terror of the Tongs

Fox

The Nanny

Universal

Shadow of the Cat

I really should try one of the Hammer titles to see what I think. It's not typically the type of movie I would enjoy but if Shout is doing so much in this department, I should at least think about it. Any recommendations on one to start with? Outside of a few monster movies (Ginger Snaps is one of my favorite movies), I'm more into the slasher & thriller type horror.

Busy month! Universal Horror Collection Volume Two coming 23rd July:

Interesting selection, and one which confirms/suggests a couple of things:

1) Paramount titles are also in play

2) Several more volumes are surely in the pipeline, given the lack of Lugosi and Karloff and the omission of more famous titles.

look at it this way... there's never been a year like this prior... this is just the year for old school horror fans

there's still new titles as well, and Severin, Synapse, and others will still be contributing stuff most likely to your liking

I dig old movies but not old horror movies...thats just me. Too cheesy. I am hoping for an IFC title like The Wind though.

Seems like one of the lesser anticipated titles, but The Green Inferno CE has been delayed.

From Scream's FB:
***THE GREEN INFERNO Update***

Sorry guys but we unexpectedly have to delay the release of Eli Roth's THE GREEN INFERNO just a little longer. Original release date was this month on April 23rd. New (and final) date is now June 25th.

Thanks for your understanding.

Very excited about The Reptile as the DVD I have as part of a region 2 Studio Canal box set is pretty bad, watched it last year in October. Looking forward to a better HD transfer.

Even more excited for Lust for a Vampire as that is one I've never seen as it was and is one of the more expensive Hammer DVDs to get a hold of here in the US. With this announced I'm hoping for Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde as that's another really expensive, hard to find one in the US and I've also never seen it either.

Scream replied to someone on Facebook who brought up the review copies saying:

Quote:
Yes, review copies. We've had some reports that some discs are causing intermittent glitches, hence the move.
So a delay is a helluva lot better than just saying "deal with it, people."

Before people get confused and/or overly excited, it should be clarified that this is not indicative of a deal with Paramount. These are pre-1948 Paramount titles that are owned by Universal. Back in 1958, Paramount sold hundreds of pre-1948 films to Universal's predecessor, MCA Inc./EMKA, Ltd.
