i don’t feel at all that the garbage who are scalpers won’t be about to sell their copies for $90 each now.

everyone wins when something popular comes back in print. why are you even arguing this? it’s unfair to greedy people who bought it initially because they can’t flip copies for exorbitant and unjustified rates?

besides the fact that since everything is licensed, and no licenses are permanent, they are technically all limited editions.

Again I'm not arguing whether they should have put it out, just that they shouldn't tout it as a limited edition when they've already shown that they'll make more. Yes all BDs are theoretically limited, but most don't advertise it as a selling point and then go back on it.

Why does it matter though? They have been getting a more-than-expected amount of requests to put it back into print, so they’ve done another limited pressing. Now more people can own the movies. I don’t know why anyone takes issue with this sort of thing unless they’re upset that their own copy has now been “devalued” monetarily.

Not sure how many times I can say I don't care that they made more, just that they're again promoting it as a limited edition when they've literally just shown that they will make more again if it suits them. If you don't understand why false advertising is bad or don't care about it then I can't make you.

These Limited Edition arguments remind me of the time I used to participate in group buys over on the Premium Steelbook threads. There were always nasty fights between people who missed out because of quick sellouts and hardcore collectors who were violently against the idea of labels producing larger quantities to give more fans a chance. I get the allure of owning a one-of-a-kind piece that very few people own but, at the same time, I'll never understand the selfishness of those who favor strangleholds for purposes of maintaining value.

I’m thrilled that more people get to own Deathstalker/ Deathstalker II on Blu-ray, since the first release is a cornerstone in my collection.

I let Message from Space pass me by, but I might bite on it if they offer it again.

It is still limited. There are only a few thousand copies.
Literally every studio does this. It’s not false advertising. It’s call a sales gimmick, and it sounds like you fell for it hook/line/sinker.

I can see both sides of the coin here. As a film fan, I think it's great that more people have the opportunity to own the films they want, but on the other hand if a company is producing something in limited numbers and advertising it as a limited edition, then they are creating a product that is also geared towards collectors. And make no mistake, that a large part of Shout Factory's business model is geared towards the collectors market, which is why they produce steelbooks and slipcovers with custom artwork.

And hand-in-hand with the collectors market is value, or perceived value, and a part of that is that collectors should be able to sell what they have for a profit if they so wish, just like someone who sells a valuable painting they own at auction. That's not the same as scalping which I see as someone who buys a ton of these and just immediately puts them up on eBay to rip off the actual collectors.

Until they decide to make more. I bought it the first time around because I love Deathstalker II, not because it was limited and have no intention of selling my copy regardless of its value. It took several months to sell out the first time around. Apparently the people that passed on it the first time didn't actually like it as much as they claim to.

What people like/dislike all falls into the realm of opinion.
The facts here are it did sell out. SF received some demand, and after going over the legality of another print run, added more copies. Those copies are selling.
Not really sure where you’re coming from. You seem to be all over the place with your dislike for SF.

I don't dislike them. I've bought a bunch of their titles. I just find their marketing on this particular re-release disingenuous. They could have easily done something to distinguish it from the earlier release (e.g. different cover) to make both distinctly limited in their own way.

I'm not sure why you have such a vested interest in convincing me that it's anything other than a money grab on their part. I don't blame people that missed on it for being happy to get it. There are plenty of limited releases that I wish I could get, but I don't expect a company to release more because I missed out.

Maybe they couldn’t change anything due to contract demands. Then there’s the issue of money. Businesses stay in business by making good business decisions. Reprints, re-issues, whatever you’d like to call it has been happening for a long time. It’s not being disingenuous, it’s supplying to unforeseen demand.
This is a cheesy 80s sword & sorcery flick. Not Star Wars. They had no way of knowing the demand would’ve been so high. Like a smart business they improved customer satisfaction(short a microscopic percentage) and added a little revenue....hopefully to do more cheesy 80’s sword & sorcery flicks.

But as I said, you can’t please everyone...logic be damned.

Not sure what your point is as you seem to keep changing it. Are we supposed to be okay with it because all companies engage in some degree of deception and anybody that takes them at their word is a naïve fool or okay with it because they broke their word to make a little bit of money and appease a small number of fans and that's what companies do? It could easily do as much harm as good to their business since anything they advertise as being limited from this point forward will be suspect.

My point has been the same, that yeah this type of thing happens all the time and the overwhelming response is positive.
Short of a few outliers, the only crowd that wouldn’t like this news are those of the reselling lot.
Again, “Limited”, unless it’s actually numbered, is a sales gimmick. If you’re buying into that, you’re only setting yourself up for a world of hurt.
But hey, to each his/her own.
I’m just glad the response, so far, has been mostly positive. As a fan of these types of movies I hope it paves the way for more...”Limited” or not.

I’m hoping SF will release Jaws 2-4 CE at some point. Was hoping the same for Child’s Play 2 and 3 but have given up, it looks like they will never get a special edition release.

Losers crying about limited editions losing value. Get a grip. It's just a freakin disc. Who cares if they press more, so more can own it. When your air is poisoned, water is poisoned, the power grid goes out, there's food shortages, and you get a nuclear bath, let me know how much you care about your limited edition discs. I see the same shit with Limited Run Games in the video game world. "Oh no, they made more for Best Buy, now my chunks of plastic that I truly dont need to survive, other than to stimulate my tiny simple mind is loosing value." Don't get me wrong. I love to collect movies and games, but I'll never complain about a limited edition of anything being repressed. As long as I can get it to begin with and own it, I'm a happy camper. Who cares if they press a million more...

I suspect this is it for the month, though you never know. Two Paramount titles (including a double-dip of a title already released by Paramount, which is interesting), another Hammer title, an AIP Arkoff title, and a Universal title. I didn't expect Scream to go after any titles on that Universal Hammer set, so this is interesting. Certainly they won't do everything, but I could see CE's of Brides of Dracula and The Evil of Frankenstein.
