Default Is Trekkies really coming from Shout on Feb 8th?

There was this news post about an upcoming Shout release of "Trekkies":

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=29665

But I can't find it for pre-order anywhere, including Shout factory website itself.

Fake news?

Also, is this forum for Scream and Shout stuff? I can't remember which factory is parent to which... or are they siblings?

Shout Factory is the parent company. Scream Factory and Shout Select are collectors lines which focus on genre films.

Trekkies appears to have been delayed until the end of March which is why there isn't a pre-order listed yet on Shout Factory's website. Here is a wal-mart pre-order however. Note the "Arrives By" date.

TerrorVision/The Video Dead was part of the first group of releases that went out-of-print, but Scream Factory has since renewed the license. As far as I know, it's still in print. It's not listed under the "Going Out-of-Print" section on Shout's site, but it is currently out of stock.

I read on the Arrow page on here that someone has the Empire Picture rights now so rumor is they will all get reissued maybe? Not sure it was not very clear.

That’s good to hear. Would like to pick up a Blu-ray of Dungeonmaster (Ragewar) after missing out on the earlier release.

Just spotted a new SF store exclusive. The Brain Eaters (1958)

Quote:
Synopsis
When a strange structure emerges from the earth in a small Illinois town, scientist Dr. Paul Kettering is sent to investigate its mysterious origins and purpose. Kettering soon discovers the shocking truth: the object houses subterranean parasites capable of controlling the minds of anyone by attaching themselves at their necks. With the citizenry slowly infiltrated and overtaken and the town cut off from the outside world, Kettering and a small band of those left unenslaved must take on the insurmountable task of halting this menacing invasion from spreading. Starring Ed Nelson (Peyton Place) and Joanna Lee (Plan 9 From Outer Space) and featuring a cameo by Leonard Nimoy (Star Trek), The Brain Eaters is a spellbinding science-fiction nightmare!

Bonus Features
NEW 2K Scan Of A Fine Grain Film Element

I think I actually beat SF to posting about it . They just posted to FB right after.

Here's what they posted (plus alternative angle cover). They claim it's 1,200 copies, but it's 1,500 on the site.

Looks like this will be the outlet for the Arkoff titles then. These could well be on the agenda in terms of horror stuff:

Blood of Dracula
Cat Girl
The Undead
Voodoo Woman

Hopefully we hear about April's slate next week.

I wish they sold titles like these as double-features. A completely barebones release that's just 61 mins for $30 is a bit of a hard sell.

exactly...i am debating to get it or not. I like these kind of movies but that is pretty short and bare bones for that price.

And honestly you think they would’ve realized this themselves by now.

I preordered the Brain Eaters along with The Day the World Ended. Shout started out doing double features for these and have started to do single releases. We need double features for some of these. These feel like Kino titles that go on sale for $8.99 during their many sales.

Another title I would like to get, but not enough to rush with full price, especially with such little content.

People love cool box sets, I mean, look how popular All the haunts is, which features a bunch of movies most people wouldn't have bought otherwise or the Shaw Bros set by Arrow? If Shout had done a good set with all of these 60's sci fi movies, i'm sure it would have sold very well. I'm interested by these but not enough to buy them by themselves, let alone at that price.

Scream Factory is a pretty obnoxious label, aren't they? They want to be like VS or Severin but instead of quality/love, it's just manipulation and having a really low bar for their sales, so like people don't wait for the sales (I guess?). The worst part are their fanboy loyalists.

It's a great line of movies, I own a shelf of them, but it just seems really odd that they do so little for the collector/consumer, but people are so willing to go to bat for them and like attack people who don't feel the same way.

I commented on a Candyman post today about how great the Candyman 3 slip looked and someone took it as a personal attack for some reason because the first two were SF releases.

Also, something about slipcovers and the SF diehards is weird, it's like the majority want the slip, but then if you are remiss for not having a slip, then they hate you and pretend like you are just some scalper untouchable scum, but yet.... they also missed out and want that slip too? I'm not sure, I don't really get it. Are all SF collectors bitter? lol

I'm not the biggest fan of SF, but I do find it find it funny that you use as an example of quality/love Severin. That being said, I do agree that there's always going to be those label fanboys who think their favorite company can do no wrong.

It's not the labels. It's the same collectors carrying their personalities into each label.

$26.99 for a 61 minute long random horror/sci-fi movie from 1958 with not even the trailer on the disc. I can't justify the price. At least put one of those cheap slipcovers on it or something to make me feel better. If this was a double feature I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
