Like Arrow, 88 Films and Indicator all were UK based labels but all of them now based on rights release movies in US/Canada also. But Scream Factory wont sell to UK market. Annoying

US licenses are the strictest in the world. Many times it's not about a company not wanting to sell in another part of the world, but rather that they simply can't. I do wish more companies would actively campaign to leave their releases region Free however, even if they are only being sold in one part of the world. The amount of sales that said release will generate from overseas buyers will still be miniscule but for folks passionate enough to research, locate, and pay for said films it would be a nice nod to the fans. Thankfully 4k for the moment has largely alleviated this issue.

It's a double-edged sword. I've had trouble selling off Shout Collector's Editions after an upgrade has been announced but I don't think I would risk selling something before an upgrade gets announced. I don't wanna run the risk of an upgrade not happening for whatever reason. I thought for sure a Shout CE would get me a decent return but I haven't had that much luck even with a slipcover.

Has anybody heard if Shout! is thinking of re-releasing a Bluray or maybe a new 4K edition of Death Race 2000?

Dawn of the Discs is reporting that DiabolikDVD has updated their listing for Dog Soldiers 4k and that it now reads that the release date has changed from 6/14/22 to "To Be Determined". I went and checked myself and sure enough, it appears a delay may be incoming. I'd wager that we'll be hearing something later today about a delay.


Also, on another note, Scream Factory TV launched today from within the Shout Factory TV app. I decided to put it on to see what was playing and as of this writing I am now 17 minutes in and haven't actually seen a movie/tv show play yet. I was greeted to 12! unrelated commercials/Ad's to start things off, then the ads switched to a bumper screen for the new service for a few minutes, then A several minute long ad for The Sword and The Sorcerer played... this was so long that I thought it was the actual film as it ran through the events of the film and I thought it was just a really weird way to open a film having never seen it before. After that ended however I was greeted to more bumpers and generic Scream Factory tv commericals of which I am currently still seeing as I wait for anything relevant to start playing. Not a good look for the service.

Edited to Add: Every now and then a trailer for a film SF has will play... these are great! The SF bumpers themselves are also nice. I can see the vision for the channel and it should eventually be something really nice, but there is far too much bland nothing in between the movie trailers. Cliff if you're seeing this, tell the folks pushing the buttons to increase the movie trailer frequency and reduce the time spent on the generic Scream Factory TV bumper screen. I recommend 1 or 2 commercial ads, a Scream Factory bumper for 20 seconds or less, 2 movie trailers, and then repeat. At least that will feel like a traditional theater in some respects while waiting for the film to start.

I had checked out Shout Factory TV again about a month ago after not opening the app in probably 2 years and checked out the quality of a film featured on the service. At that time I was greeted to 15! ads running close to 10 minutes, but the film did eventually start playing. Shout Factory needs to seriously fix these issues as the service is borderline unusable right now. (And as I finish typing this I am now 20 minutes in with no movie/tv content playing... still only ads and bumpers).

2nd Edit: Went to the Facebook page to share some feedback and the Social Media person commented that they are working on the servers at the moment and hope to fix things soon. So that's a positive. They at least appear to be keeping an eye on things.

10:17am CST UPDATE(Roughly 50 minutes from when I started the service): Still no movies playing but the ratio of Trailers to Bumpers has dramatically improved. Seen trailers for The Fly, The Omen, In the Mouth of Madness, and a few others. Quality of the stream is generally good. Obviously the source of the trailer/clip is going to impact how things look, but overall the seeds of a great free service are there.

Final Update: 2 hours in and the service is still just recycling the same bumpers and trailers more or less. Every 20 minutes or so I get a new trailer I hadn't previously seen but that's been the only change. No movies thus far. It's safe to say the service has issues at this point. With it being Easter Weekend I'm just going to assume that we won't see this fixed until Monday at the earliest at this point. I do believe it still has a ton of potential though.

No they advertised that it started at midnight. They ran F.W. Murnau's Noseferatu as their inaugural movie.

Yesterday, I placed a batch order from DiabolikDVD for the June Scream Factory and Arrow titles. I just heard from Instagram that Dog Soldiers 4K has been delayed indefinitely. Now, I'll have to contact DiabolikDVD, cancel my entire order, get the PayPal refund, and then place another order for the non-delayed titles. Argh.

As a producer on the film I have so many extras fans would probably like such as a director's cut, storyboards, dailies, marketing for the film, never before seen photos, the scripts I wrote and Syfy approved for the sequels, a video game spec. Director's Cut?? This is being revealed now? Glad I haven't preordered the Shout edition yet. I have a feeling Second Sight will one-up Shout with their release overall

Instead of canceling the entire order, DiabolikDVD was able to cancel the one item (Dog Soldiers 4K) and give me store credit for the amount of that one item.

Excellent customer service all around.

Does Shout still hold the right to Bill and Ted? I’m hoping we might get a US 4K of the first film.

Recently acquired a copy of "Lost Continent". I know there was a replacement because of some missing frames but I'm not sure which version I have. Anybody have the serial number or some other identification for the replacement disc?

Why not just wait for the Dog Soldiers 4K from Second Sight? You know theirs is going to be the best version (if you're region free)

Their collection is still in print. Hopefully they can release all 3 in UHD. There's a streaming 4K master of Bogus Journey also.

Just got the 101 Films of Existenz, boy could it use a nice remaster. Hopefully Cursed is an indicator we can get it remastered from SF.

Scream Factory Tv is a part of the "Shout Factory TV" App. I was hoping for a standalone app as well, but it is what it is. As for the service, it wasn't until late this evening that they got things figured out and announced that the channel was operating as it should. I'll give it a go another day.
