Trick 'R Treat is getting screenings in some cinemas in the States and the UK (I know about the UK screenings from the Park Circus website). I'm hoping it gets shown at the local cinema. If not, I'm sure I'll eventually get Shout's Collector's Edition release.

Behind the Mask was great, as was Stranger. Mans Best Friend I have but just liked, dont remember it that well, same with Prophesy.

Wargames and a UHD redux of the 2004 Dawn of the Dead have started popping up, although we don’t know if those are for December or not.

I’ve been keeping an eye on Bullmoose and haven’t seen anything yet. Those usually seem to show up on Sundays, and it’s been 5 weeks to the day since the last discoveries.

Mine is still showing as pre-shipment and the USPS is awaiting the item although the label was created on 24 Sep. Extremely disappointed with the shipping service of this order.

Yeah it doesn’t sound like it’s been the most efficient shipping service for this set. Expecting it to arrive late and probably damaged!

Dr. Warren Chapin, a pathologist played by Vincent Price, has discovered the secret to the tingling sensation that humans feel in their spines while experiencing extreme fear. By performing autopsies on unfortunate souls who succumb to being scared to death, he has isolated the “tingler”, a ghastly insect-like parasite that materializes during moments of distress to attach itself to one's spinal cord. When a tingler specimen escapes from captivity and makes its way into a crowded movie theater, the audience is acquainted with a terror unlike anything that the world has ever known.

The 1959 horror extravaganza, The Tingler, was produced and directed by William Castle, the iconic filmmaker who embraced gimmicks to turn his features into truly interactive phenomenons. For certain showings, an electronic buzzer device, a “Percepto!”, was placed underneath random seats at large movie venues. During a climactic sequence where the screen goes black after the titular monster has been unleashed in a theater, the projectionist would activate these devices, jolting people in the audience into panic.

Even without the Percepto! buzzers, The Tingler is gleeful blast of a film. Price, who elevated every movie he appeared in simply by way of his voice and screen presence, is the main attraction, exuding a perfect balance of charisma and menace. An early dialogue scene between Price's doctor and his promiscuous wife, played amazingly by Patricia Cutts, provides the most humorous lines of this story.

Partly thanks to the use of color during one particular sequence of this black-and-white movie, Castle was able to inject genuine blood-red unease into the proceedings. The actual “tingler” may inspire more laughs than screams these days, but I still would not want to encounter one in a darkened room.


This Scream Blu-ray and the Indicator Blu-ray are both highly worthwhile purchases. I was fortunate, however, to see this movie at a big screen showing this weekend in Atlanta, though.

You'd think Psycho 2 and 3 would happen soon. If they could find the original negative, Hell Night would be a no brainer. But I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Was hoping for at least one new to Blu-ray title but, I'm certainly not mad at upgrades like these.

I own both the Indicator and the Scream Factory Blu-rays of The Tingler. My Scream Blu-ray is redundant, but I cannot bring myself to sell it.
