Dead End is amazing!

The Hole is another 2000s classic starring Thora Birch (in easily her career best performance) alongside Kiera Knightly (who goes topless for those interested) and a few names that were big at the time. I think is with Paramount now, would kill for that in 4K! It's got one of the greatest plot twists of the decade.

If I can remember where my copy of the UK DVD release of Dead End is, I might watch that during the Christmas to New Year holidays (I hope that gets a Blu-ray upgrade next year. Have only seen it once, and while I found it frustrating at times, it wasn't dull, had a setting that stood out and Ray Wise from Twin Peaks).

A film I remember renting out a long time ago that I remember being decent was When Strangers Appear (the cast including Radha Mitchell, Josh Lucas and Kevin Anderson).

Hopefully SF can re-release the Vanishing or even put out a 4K. Since the old Twilight Time release has been long out print now.

I would love Pandorum to get a 4K, underrated and wicked imo. Would also love for The Hills Have Eyes remake and it's sequel to get the 4K treatment down the line.

Oh man, The Hole! I used to be obsessed with this film back in the day. The story turned out to be something completely different from what I was expecting. And I agree, the acting is great, especially Thora.
I had no idea who Keira was at the time but I remember being struck by her beauty. The year later she got so huge. It was like seeing Renee Zellwegger and Matthew McConaughey for the first time in TCM 4 and the next year they're Hollywood celebrities lol.

Wouldn't be surprised if we see Cut (2000) come from Umbrella in the US since they're slowly chipping away at some Aussie indie flicks they've already put out in Australia. I have their blu-ray, it's region free and has a great transfer (though I think it might be OOP at this point...)

With the reports of the Silent Night, Deadly Night UHD being region locked, has Shout! issued any statement regarding whether this will be standard practice with UHD discs from now on, or if it was an accident?

Since the UHD format is supposed to be region free, the only decent thing would be for Shout! to be upfront and say that they have chosen to region lock their UHD discs, or - if that is not the case - list which of their UHD releases are affected.

At least with the Scream titles they've all been accidently locked to date. There's no incentive for them to lock them considering it would kill international sales. No studio can force them to lock them either given the BDA guidelines for 4K.

With region locking being out of spec, how does that accidentally happen?

I don't understand the logic of region locking one format but not another. Am I missing something? Are studios hoping very few people buy into 4K and stick with Blu-ray? Also, if people around the world are able to purchase a disc and watch it without restrictions, wouldn't that add to the revenue

I don't know how it happened with SF, but Cliff had this explanation for why several Lionsgate titles were locked last year:
