I'd love to see 1982's Madman get the Scream Factory treatment, it's a goofy little slasher with a hideous cast and strange charm.

Since Terror Train is from Fox, what about Phantom of the Paradise?

Duel, Firestarter, Ghost Story, Jaws 2, 3, 4, Matinee, Nightmares (on Universal HD back when it was good), The People Under The Stairs, Prince of Darkness, Psycho II, III, Raising Cain, The Sentinel (I believe on HDNet Movies, I kept the recording), The Serpent and the Rainbow, and Shocker have all shown in non-upconverted hd on broadcast hd stations.
I would buy almost all of these.

I agree with the above poster, Joe Dante's "Matinee" would be great!

There is a French Blu-ray if you're region-free.

I'm just a regular Joe - can someone tell me if something airs on an HD channel - is the transfer they're using suitable for Blu-ray? I read about 720 vs. 1080i/1080p, it can get a little confusing for the layman. Thanks.

That sure is a loaded question, particularly the word 'suitable.'

A lot of the hd masters for broadcast may be from an older transfer, or may not be OAR. That hasn't stopped say, Alliance, from dumping broadcast masters on disc, and in many cases the result isn't that bad. Plus you don't have to deal with multiple steps of compression (broadcast channel compresses master for satellite feed -> tv provider optionally recompresses that signal for transmission on their platform).

Alternatively you can have a brand new 4k master that gets DNR'd and looks worse than a 10 year old broadcast master to some (one studio comes to mind ).

Pretty much any HD master could be seen as suitable for release, depending on who you talk to.

Kudos to Shout/Scream for all the nice looking releases. I can honestly say I don't own one that I am not satisfied with the transfer, and that includes just about all the Corman discs. I look forward to adding some Scream Factory discs soon (I have come here to chew bubblegum and buy blu-rays, and I'm all outta blu-rays).

Sounds like the extras merit more than just 3 out of 5 stars...and you can't fault Shout for not having Terror in the Aisles on it. Can't wait to get this and all of their releases!

The Halloween II disc looks great! Thanks to Shout! for providing true quality to their presentations (image, sound, and extras) and not just being a pump-and-dump Blu factory like Echo Bridge or Twilight Time.

If I could work for Shout! Factory I would.

I watched Terror In The Aisles on the Universal disc, and while I enjoyed it, I would probably never watch it again. The time would be better spent watching the films it covers instead. No big loss.

Um, the reviews have said that the picture is pretty much identical to the Universal disc. Audio and Extras are indeed better though.

I'm interested in seeing Terror in the Aisles but I'm not sure if I want to buy Halloween II and if I did want to, I would rather have the Scream Factory release. I wish Netflix had the Universal Blu.

Well, you're getting the alternate cut and two commentaries...so yes!

Anyway you could get the rights to Cronenberg's Shivers? It has sadly been out of print for years.

If you're a special features fan, buying the new release of H2 is obviously worth it. I'd even say that if you're a big horror and cult movie fan that you should support Scream Factory by purchasing a copy. Them testing the waters is a gamble, and good sales figures will ensure future releases in the line.

Im not even that into extras and special features, but last night i watched The Nightmare Isnt Over! The Making of Halloween 2 and i found it extremely interesting. Especially the part where it shows you the scenes that John Carpenter shot.

The screenshots look better than the Universal disk to me, better colors and cleaner looking.
