[QUOTE=NoirFan;7854996]Can you imagine all the bellyaching here if they released a box set that included Prince of Darkness, Assault and The Fog only a few months after they received individual releases? I wouldn't count on a Carpenter box at any time in the near (or even distant) future.

that's kind of what I was thinking.... why in the hell would we want a boxed set when we've already faithfully bought all the titles as stand alone releases???

I'd never buy a "Shout!" John Carpenter set, especially after buying all his films individually from "Shout!" and it not even including "Escape from NY" and "The Thing" it wouldn't feel nearly complete at all, not to mention it wouldn't include "Vampires" or "Christine."

That's exactly what it should be.

Yeah. But it would have a good set. At least six films, only one restricted to DVD.

Funny how people are saying that, when many of us complained that The Vagrant, Cellar Dewller, The Godsend, etc. wouldn't be in HD.

That's why I thought if they did do an eventual box set, it would really have to coincide with individual releases of those two titles, which would also be in the box. In any case, I'd already have all of the individual releases, so I would be indifferent to a box set regardless, unless they did some sort of limited edition set bundled with a lock of Carpenter's white hair or something.

I agree; but it seems this is the nature of business that stuff gets repackaged and re-release. No John Carpenter set has been announced but it seems like a logical move to bundle together the films to appeal to late adopters.

A good set to people who haven't been buying these titles as soon as they've been released. Which means it wouldn't do a lot of us any good.

This, however, could be a gateway to the shoppers of Amazon to get into Scream's supply. Perhaps it could be an Amazon exclusive set.

I see Eve of Destruction as similar to Future World and Timerider - goofy, lesser sci-fi/action hybrids that are nice fits for the Shout line.

Haven't seen Eve of Destruction...
But I did hate both Timerider and Futureworld.

Let's say if and it's a big if they even thought of doing it, would they even still be holding onto the rights to all these films I mean there has to be a period of time they get to lease these films for. Just has bad idea all over it. If they were even gonna do it they should've done it the way they're doing the "Vincent Price Collection."

They should try and gather the rights to the first three "Hellraiser" flicks and do full blown special editions of those as a box set.

I'll add my thanks to Cliff and company for the great work.

I personally do not have any Scream Factory Blu-rays in my collection right now, because none of the films have really rung the bells on my priority list to date, but, since joining this site, I have kept up with the Scream Factory announcements with great interest, and I love the vibe. I think it's a blessing in so many ways that "throwaway" movies like The Fog, Lifeforce, and Death Valley that I remember fondly from my 1980s childhood are given such a respectful and dignified treatment on Blu-ray through this company. For years, I thought that I was the only person in the world who remembered Death Valley, for example, and it's sort of like an online family atmosphere to see others who still care about such movies and who want them to see them available to future generations. I'm looking forward to jumping into the fold with Assault on Precinct 13 and Cat People.

I do have two Shout Factory releases, Dirty Mary Crazy Larry/Race with the Devil and Futureworld, that are awesome additions to my collection. Race with the Devil, in particular, looks great, and it gets a lot of rotation under my roof.

I never complained, I was happy to get them in disc format and very thankful ..I like Cellar Dweller and the Godsend and if any of the other movies on these sets wind up as something I like it makes the set even better.

I didn't name anyone. I was just pointing out the irony in it.
