This is one of my all time favorite film series, if you grew up in the 80's you had to love the Friday the 13th movies. Every year that has a Friday the 13th on the calendar I take it the day off work and have a Friday the 13th marathon..this dates back to VHS, Laserdisc, DVD and next Friday Blu-Ray! And like most other people I hate the way Paramount (and now Warner) treat this series, they know it has a huge fan base and we all want a definative collection but they never give it to us. They know once we have it all there will be no reason for us to buy it again and again and again. They didn't give us Friday the 13th part 3 in Blu-Ray 3-D so they can release that seperatly next year, than they will release JGTH uncut after that ect. ect. ect. and on and on. To them we are nothing more than a source of recurring revenue.

Friday the 13th - The Series and
Freddy's Nightmares: A Nightmare on Elm Street - The Series

They're both with Warner Bros. Television Division, which Shout/Scream Factory have worked with a few times before.

I'd love both of these, it would be fantastic to have them both on blu-ray, if Warner would actually give them up.
Friday the 13th: The Series is with CBS.

And both would look just as horrendous on Blu as they do on DVD.

The Scream Factory Blu-ray should include a coupon for Breyers Vanilla Twist ice cream.

Like Dissention said, I'm not certain Friday the 13th - The Series is among the titles Warner is distributing for Paramount/CBS. It's not being sold at WBShop and Amazon is still selling them from the old Paramount listings.

In any case, Blu-Ray is probably out of the question for either series.

Friday the 13th - The Series was shot on 35MM, but do those elements still exist or does the series exist in the form of video masters only? Freddy's Nightmares was shot on video. If these two series exist on SD video masters only, the only reason to bump them up to Blu-Ray would be for better (less) video compression and lossless audio.

Even if there were film elements, the risk:reward ratio probably doesn't work in either case to warrant transferring the footage to HD. Friday the 13th - The Series has 54+ hours worth of footage while Freddy's Nightmares has 32+ hours worth of footage. Keep in mind, Cliff doesn't think Slumber Party Massacre would sell well enough to warrant HD transfers for all three films and that's only 4.5 hours worth of footage.

That reverse artwork for Assault on Precinct 13 is fantastic. Can't wait to add some more Carpenter to my collection.

I was just going off what someone on Facebook said.

And I also think the reversible art is, for lack of a better phrase, the bomb-diggity!

Friday the 13th was also notorious for problems behind the scenes due to the not-so-special effects that were hindered due to lack of budget (something that was remedied in season two, but not by much). The effects shots were not rendered in HD and they already look abominable in SD. The floating monk in "The Poison Pen" being the worst/most charming.

Love that show, but the woeful DVDs are all we'll ever get and we lucked out by getting them at all. I'd be just as pleased with a DVD release of Freddy's Nightmares, although that show was pretty unwatchable 90% of the time.

**NEW KEY ART REVEAL**

It's been a cover art kind of week it seems and so we end it by sharing with you our latest interpretation: 1982's CAT PEOPLE! This sexy and ferocious design comes courtesy of artist Justin Osbourn (Prince of Darkness, Lifeforce).

Our Collector's Edition of CAT PEOPLE on Blu-ray is scheduled for Jan 2014 release and we already have a lot of amazing extras shot that we'll announce at a later date.

Have a great weekend everyone!

BLECH. That is hideous. Malcolm McDowell looks like Harvey Keitel and Natassia Kinski looks like a bad cartoon.

Yup, I somehow expected the cover to look like that
[Show spoiler](artist: Justin Osbourn )
but I was hoping the original poster to be on the slipcover and not on the reverse.

Nothing will ever beat the original poster images of Cat People in terms of sheer eroticism.

I'm glad that Scream Factory does their own thing with these covers instead of photoshopping, though.

Eh, I've accepted that cluttered, cartoonish collages are all they are interested in doing. I just turn 'em inside out anyway. Kinski's cat-eyes were a bad idea, but other than that I thought the main likenesses were decent. There is NO reason to throw in a (terribly drawn) shotgun-wielding John Heard though! But, like I said, that's just how Scream rolls. Stylish, subtlely-rendered, minimalist, and/or elegant imagery just isn't their thing.

They did say 'you'll be happy to know that it will still very much be a 'Special Edition' to celebrate as some great extras are in the works'.
