From Beyond is an 80's classic...one of the best sci-fi/horrors to come out in the decade and an essential component in the "body horror" sub-genre.

Stuart Gordon, Jeffrey Combs and Brian Yuzna...come on...
Maybe too many expecting that the announced title would be something else they want more so this was a letdown? My only guess. It's not like it was said this would be the only "big" title released. This just happened to the one that was announced this week.

It's probably because it is not on the level of Re-Animator. I like From Beyond, I own it, it is a good flick...but I echo some of the others who are unsure about getting it because they've only watched it the one time since it's been released on DVD.

But I'll upgrade it eventually. Likely when I get the urge to watch it again.

Looking forward to more Scream Factory announcements.

Unexciting to some, but not to me. I may not buy everything but every announcement is always fun and different fans each week get to do these things
I dont think From Beyond is least exciting in my book. There isnt a single release to me that is least exciting...they are all neat in their own way. Im not buying Terrorvision but I rented it and thought it was a cool release for those who love that film.
Frankly a lot of the Criterion titles announced lately have been less exciting if I had to say ho hum about some movies..

It's a good film, but of the announcements so far it is the title that would benefit least from the upgrade. The previous DVD looks great and it's already stacked with extras.

I own the DVD and I am a fan of the film, but I don't watch it enough to justify the cost, especially with all these other releases coming out that I don't already own.

Alien Predators is a terrible film! I would be extremely disappointed if they wasted a Friday announcement on that.

There's an HD version of it on Netflix under the title The Falling. I had a tough time making it to the end of the movie.

It's just one of those titles that is in danger of becoming "overexposed" (the reason why I'm not buying THE FUNHOUSE - I already have the excellent Arrow version). I too have only watched my DVD copy once since I got it in 2007 and will be passing on the reissue. I'm glad it's announced and out of the way, though - now I won't have to think about it anymore. Still waiting for my version of a "biggie": an unreleased and highly requested title, maybe Without Warning or Alien Predators.

For one thing, From Beyond coming out through Shout does set a precedent: previously-released titles are definitely "on the table" so we know for sure that films like THE BURNING, THE FOG and THE HOWLING are sure bets. It's just a matter of time before they're officially announced
a) A very good dvd release that is OUT OF PRINT, and b) not everybody owns a region-free blu-ray player or imports, so the U.K. release is not much of an option.

As for the film running the risk of overexposure, I say to Scream Factory...EXPOSE THE SHITE OUT OF IT!!!

As a huge horror fanatic myself, "Scream Factory" is one of the best things to happen to blu-ray, right behind "Criterion" as far as I'm concerned. Stepping in and getting these titles that normally are the black sheep of a studio's catalog and giving them the royal treatment is very impressive in my eyes and shows that you care for your fans. I will always buy your product.

Yeah, basically. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for fans of the film--it's just not a personal favorite. I've got the DVD, and I'm in no real hurry to upgrade. I would feel much the same way if The Burning was announced.

Movies that never got a DVD release or just a crappy DVD-R/full screen/non-anamorphic one are way more exciting, for the most part. Of course, I would be ecstatic to upgrade a few of my absolute faves (The Howling, Scanners)--I'd still be way more geeked to hear Lifeforce or New Year's Evil were on the way.

Cliff, with all this talk of From Beyond, which is awesome that it is coming, could we possibly get Society?

Also would like to see a release of The Incubus(1982):

....and Devils Rain:

These are two of my all time favorite horror films when I was a kid. Would love to see these make the HD leap.

Scorpion are bringing The Incubus to DVD early next year, so that won't appear in the Scream Factory line. No word on a Blu-ray release by Scorpion themselves.

I think Dark Sky still have The Devil's Rain.

Scorpion did mention that the elements for The Incubus weren't that great, so I doubt an upgrade is in store.

I still hope we get Sleepaway Camp 2: Unhappy Campers and Sleepaway Camp 3: Teenage Wasteland. I just got a SC3 shirt.

Gotcha. I definitely would be more excited if Lifeforce or New Year's Evil were on the way, even if I possibly like From Beyond more then them. Like I said though, I imagine we'll get more big titles announced at some point. I wonder how far into 2013 we'll be until all titles already announced will be out.

I totally agree with your bottom point, especially movies never released on DVD. I understand though that Shout has to balance the line with major releases of titles perhaps even with previous (subpar) Blu releases. If for every one of these they release a Death Valley, Video Dead, Terrorvision, The Evictors or Town That Dreaded Sundown, that's not a problem. Infact, I think they're doing a fantastic job of balancing the line. As far as I'm concerned Shout could announce just upgrades for the remainder of next year and I'd still be ecstatic. But if I we get stuff like Without Warning (happy to upgrade my German DVD), Cellar Dweller and The Horror Show (the UK DVD is not the unrated cut), then they'll have gone above and beyond the call of duty in my opinion. Within a few months Scream Factory has cemented itself as the leading company for horror releases. They really seem to have an ear to the ground when it comes to releasing exactly what people are clamouring for.

Cliff is there any way you could shoehorn Sonny Boy into the line? I know it's not strictly horror but it is MGM and might fit better here than elsewhere.

Would be great to see Enemy Territory as well but again that's more action...Definitely one for some kind of Action Factory line (fingers crossed).
