If Scream feels films like Hellhole, Eve of Destruction, and Saturn 3 can sell on Blu-ray, I don't see why Howling 2 or Yorga wouldn't, in Howling's case on name alone.
If that's the case, why did Cliff tell me Nomads not selling well on DVD in the first place is why a Scream Factory release will never happen? And really, the selling point of Nomads is that it's a future James Bond actor in an 80's Horror film; Pierce Brosnan.

There is no clearcut hero or villain, Ginger Snaps is a tragedy. And an allegory for puberty.

Isn't that what's happening with both sides here? He's siding with Ginger Snaps because of (I would assume) its subtext and what it offers as "film". You guys side with Phantasm because it has a franchised "name" in horror, nearly up there with the Friday the 13ths and Halloweens of the world. Its archetypal late-70's/early-'80s American horror.

Maybe this just proves that "important" can be defined many ways

And they're the same people who say they're tired of remakes and reboots. How ironic.

Prestige, you have had arguments in the Arrow thread for ages about GS. You just have to realise that alot of people don't have the love for the movie as you do( myself included) you don't have to be all incredulous about it. Take it easy pal, don't let this turn out like the Arrow thread. btw Phantasm is one of the greatest horror films of all time.

I am a big fan of Ginger Snaps and think it is a top tier film, but Phantasm is objectively a more historically, culturally and aesthetically relevant film, at least within the horror genre. Beyond that, other than the fact that both films are within the horror genre, there really isn't a lot to compare.

At the end of the day, they are both great movies.

Wait, are we sure when people say Phantasm is better, nostalgia is not involved? Because a film should be judged on its own terms and nostalgia. I see where Prestige is coming with Ginger Snaps.

And really, technically but all accounts it is relevant given the allegory. If we're judging it by that then Godzilla isn't more historically, culturally and aesthetically relevant.

As I said, I don't like using 'important' in the context of films, and I wasn't the one to bring it up. I was just intrigued by prestige's reasoning, and up until now he doesn't seem to want to divulge anything.

How will it get 'ugly'? I'm intrigued.
Man while I love the original artwork for Scarecrows on VHS I could see Scream Factory doing an awesome job on that one. I wore out my old unrated VHS tape then had a burnt copy on DVDR of the MGMHD rip then of course the official DVD. I love that the movie never overstays its welcome, has solid acting and gore effects but the main draw is that it is genuinely creepy and those scarecrows, man they were effective.

I remember reading the budget was maybe $400,000? It's all on the screen. Great movie. Wish this and stuff like Silent Night, Deadly Night (of course) and Dead Birds would finally make their way to the Blu-Ray format.

Subtext. Metaphors. Allegory. Archetypal. Cultural Zeitgeist. Intellectual Limits. Seriously? What ever happened to just watching and enjoying the movie. If you're not impressed by it 20 minutes in, turn it off and read a novel.

If Shout has LORD OF ILLUSIONS it's safe to assume they may also have WITHOUT WARNING. Scorpion says they don't have the rights so that leaves MGM since TransWorld, the company that release WW on video, is part of their library.

Why are you guys arguing about Phantasm vs. Ginger Snaps when we could be discussing the greatness of that scene in Blood Diner where that chick's head turns into a giant hush puppy?

Phantasm is good film, but saying that it ranks up there with the likes of Elm Street, the original Halloween and Friday the 13th is just crazy talk IMO.

In fact, going back to demon knight's problems with Ginger Snaps, by all accounts; Hellraiser suffers the same problem with people having conversations in a lot of scenes.

Didn't Scream Factory say on their Facebook page that there was some rights problems they had in trying to acquire WITHOUT WARNING? I wish they could clear it up.

I wish I owned the rights to this movie because as much as I see it mentioned on this site I could make millions from selling it to just the people in here. I find it interesting how people can get into verbal wars in here over films. Movies are supposed to be entertainment not the impetus of civil war!

And Blood Diner...now that is a movie to fight for. Does it have any intellectually redeeming value? No but its 80 minutes of crap your pants laughter. Blood Diner needs a release here because my bootleg finally wore out. "OH SHEETAR IF I ONLY HAD MY SCHLONG BACK!"
