If Shout has LORD OF ILLUSIONS it's safe to assume they may also have WITHOUT WARNING. Scorpion says they don't have the rights so that leaves MGM since TransWorld, the company that release WW on video, is part of their library.

good for you!

Nothing wrong with that. But however, films can transcend into much more than just entertainment. Horror especially given the works of Cronenberg, Ginger Snaps is no different than The Fly. Same case with Godzilla. Never disrespect films with more meat inside, especially Horror.

Difference being that The Fly is an excellent piece of cinematic horror, while only 1/5 of Ginger Snaps is any good in my own opinion.

Still have not seen Hellraiser. Will probably read the book first, as Barker's writing has impressed me.

EDIT: Excuse me, short story.

An allegory is an allegory, The Fly is no different than Ginger Snaps. It better not be a "Boys Only" type of reasoning.

No. Hell no. I just felt that The Fly did not hammer its message into my skull the way Ginger Snaps did.

I have a feeling MGM has the film elements, but Greydon Clark / World Amusement Company, Inc. owns the copyright.

Just making sure. I don't like it when fans, Horror, comic book, etc. declare the stuff they like a "Boys Only" club. However, I don't recall Ginger Snaps being that forceful in the allegories. It's good to see a point of view from protagonists who are women. It shouldn't be hard for men to see their plights in female characters. Just recently I've seen a lot of myself in the new Ms. Marvel comic.

Well, also that it's an early John McTiernan, even though the plot makes not a single dang lick o' sense.

Phantasm is genuinely chilling with creepy scenes. The Tall Man is a badass villain.
Ginger Snaps is just sisters having conversations about changes and werewolves being an overt metaphor. Ginger was not a menacing villain.
The Tall Man was creepy, iconic, and looked like a little kids' nightmare about being pulled into a graveyard (even if we had no idea who or what he was); Ginger was bratty and crabby, and needed to have her cellphone taken away for a week.
I'll take creepy.

(1/5? I dunno, what is the percentage of a tail to the human body? )

It also didn't ambiguously or hypocritically try to make Jeff Goldblum look "gothy-cool" once he starts acting weird, or suggested that this was just the cure to break him out of his repressed go-nowhere life with a sledgehammer. It was clearly disturbing to Geena Davis, and that was good enough for us.

MGM Plays an HD Master on TV all the time. There was some quote on Facebook that Clark wants MGM or some studio to release it. There must be a mystery behind the rights on this...quick call Sherlock Holmes

Home video distribution rights and TV distribution rights are often different animals.

It's the times. Not every decade is like the 80's nor is it supposed to be. Not to mention the 80's have their stupid fashions. Hell, they age horribly.

I'm a huge Cronenberg fan (hell I even read the extra-dry Cronenberg on Cronenberg), but I've never considered most of his stuff especially subtle

Yeah, eww, it's like OLD, like when they all had big hair and listened to Huey Lewis! Why does it just not, like, die?

(And yet Phantasm, from the Jimmy Carter era, still kicks Ginger's puberty-blues tail, literally.)

Sometimes that horribleness swings around to good again, like that song that plays during the menu (and closing credits) of Witchboard. Pure awesome '80s cheese

There you go. Neither are better than each other in the subtlety department.

Very funny. But 80's fashion still sucks. I hate nostalgia for that decade, judge everything from that decade by quality not stupid nostalgia.

Here's a I thought, I don't care. 80's fashion dating horribly is still that.

Make no mistake, I like 80's Horror whether they'd be the classics or trashy fun. But what I don't do is glorify them as this golden age of Horror. Golden Age of Slashers, okay; I get that but Horror itself? You guys do know the original Nosferatu, Dr. Caligari and the Universal Horror films exist right?

Yes. MGM also has TV distribution to Night of the Demons, Witchboard, and Sleepaway Camp 2&3, despite home video being with Kevin Tenney and Double Helix.
