I hope Scream Factory can license and release collectors editions of Halloween Curse of Michael Myers and Halloween H20.

Unfortunately that is a slim to none chance of ever happening.

Water Horse is horrible. That's a type of horror. I do consider the whole Godzilla franchise to be horror though, even if a few do not fit the criteria.

Yes I know that - but I bet Shout would have released them under that label anyway

That's fine. Water Horse just was not for me. I saw it in theaters and fell asleep. It kind of bored me. But whatever...

It could go either way, I think.

Do distribution companies ever do contracts where multiple companies release the same movie at the same time with different editions. For example, there are a lot of Echo Bridge titles that I think would benefit from this sort of distribution scheme. Where, for example, Echo Bridge would release the cheap budget version of a movie no extras and a cheap transfer for general consumers, while at the same time another company, like Scream Factory, would release a more expensive nice edition of the movie for people who are collectors or fans of the film. I think that would be a really good distribution model, because both companies could make money on the same movie and consumers would have a choice between the collector's edition or the cheap edition of the movie.

Not very often, but it does happen. Zombi/Zombie 2 and The Visitor are two examples that come to mind. It's usually not a good thing for either of the licensees, though, and often leads to legal wrangling between the parties.

I can't see Echo Bridge going along with such a plan unless there's a loophole in their contract or without some sort of monetary incentive.

Prom Night and Curtains would like a word... Synapse has commented that they may be combo packs.

A Chiller documentary called Killer Legends will be premiering next week.

I doubt this will be released by Scream Factory (as the other Chiller doc(s) haven't been) but it pertains to The Town That Dreaded Sundown, because they will be investigating the Urban Legend of the "Hook Hand Killer", which is believed to have been spawned by the Phantom Killer of the Texarkana Moonlight Murders. They'll also be digging deep into the real-life inspirations of the "Tainted Halloween Candy", "Babysitter Killer", and "Clown Killer" Urban Legends.

I actually like the premise of this, and wouldn't mind seeing it released on blu-ray (although The American Scream and the one about movies that were based on true events were not). More infor here.

Echo Bridge sort of has a deal like this with Full Moon. They have released cheap budget versions of the Puppet Master and Subspecies series as well as many other Full Moon titles. The blu ray collector's editions are being released solely by Full Moon.

I suppose it could easily turn into a legal mess, however, if that can be avoided I think it could be a good business strategy.

Of course Echo Bridge wouldn't just give the rights away. They would have to be paid for the rights. I think if the deal is done correctly, however, it could benefit everyone. For example, I'm guessing Synapse had to pay Echo Bridge a fee for the rights for Curtains, but I think Synapse will make a profit because there are enough hardcore fans who will buy the nice Synapse edition. Echo Bridge also wins because they get paid by Synapse, and they still get to release Curtains in the four-pack bargain bin release that the collectors weren't buying anyway.

Sadly inevitable, but it looks like we can rule out Phantasm:

Hopefully Anchor Bay will step up to the plate and release a 35th Anniversary Edition later this year.

Criterion is known to *sit on titles* for a long time before a release, for whatever the reason is, remastering, extras, taking their time with the project. It took them over a year to release Foreign Correspondent after it was known that they did have it. Im still waiting for Mulholland Drive and Eraserhead from them since they reportedly have both.

Not to mention Y Tu Mama Tambien, from Oscar winning director Alfonso Cuaron.
