When is Scream Factory gonna release Dwight H Littles' Phantom Of The opera (1989)?...They should have access to it through MGM.

Same here. I thought it was pretty boring and I didn't care for it too much. But, I am gonna get the BD anyhow cause I figure maybe, just maybe, I'll enjoy it more on spiffy Blu-ray. Plus it's hard to resist an 80's slasher. Oh and the price isn't bad either

I think it's pretty much universally regarded as a slow paced slasher but I remember still thinking that the last quarter of the movie was pretty creepy and effective. I haven't seen it since HBO days in the late 80's but I always get a kick out of revisiting these flicks on blu ray and will be buying

Fair points and I regret using the word slow in a negative way. I don't mind slow builds. In fact, I often prefer them. But, for me, a big part of enjoying a slow build is the accompanying atmosphere and this one just didn't quite have enough not that for me.

There's a big difference between slow & intense, and slow & boring. Final Exam was slow & boring.

Also, I hated that the killer had no back story. He just appeared completely out of nowhere and started hacking people up.

Isn't this what makes it scarier? A completely random act of violence - a total stranger suddenly coming into your life and turning it upside down, with the threat of death at every corner? It's not as scary if you see it coming

In a better movie, like Black Christmas, yes. In Final Exam, no.

I can handle minimal back story like with say, Michael Myers (in the original Halloween, discounting the events of Halloween II).

No back story? F**k no. It drives me nuts.

Baby Blood doesn't have a lot of replay value for me. I watched the DVD once and haven't touched it since.

While Final Exam is just a dumb goofy slasher film, the lite atmosphere and likable characters make it a really easy watch. I don't watch it very often compared to other slasher movies, but I'm more likely to respin this one than Baby Blood.

I agree with for the most part. However, even though it's not the type of film i'd ever want to watch again, he did make his remake of Halloween his own, and I appreciate any film that's reinterpreted and completely different to the original, regardless of how good it actually it is.

But yeah, for the most part, he's shite and his music is even worse. I haven't seen his Halloween sequel and I never will.

Final Exam has a great score too, and the Characters are so likeable you don't want anyonee to get hurt. The killer scares me, something very rare in chessy 80s slashers. He comes from nowhere, but it works. That's kinda the theme of the movie "anyone can be a killer, anyone can wake up one day and decide they want to end your life".

It's my favorite slasher, and I'm a HUGE 80s Slasher fan. Seriously, you wouldn't believe the utter shit and solid gold turds I've encountered on my quest to see as many 80s slashers as possible.

Me too, I love the 80s setting that parralles the Gaston Leroux, classic Phantom world.

And yes, hear that Cliff!!!
Freddy of the Opera gets my vote for a Scream Factory release!

And I'd be more likely to rewatch Baby Blood; we all have different tastes. Scream has released some great discs, but they seem to play it safe more often than not and it can be rather frustrating. A healthy mix of what they're offering now and more esoteric genre stuff shouldn't be that difficult to accomplish. I dread the day I see that Scream has acquired offal like Graduation Day, but I'm sure it'll happen eventually.

Say what you will about rob zombies movies but a one note filmmaker he is not. I personally find his Halloween to be offensive but I think house of 1000 corpses was really top notch work. It's a movie that was influenced by such films as Texas chainsaw massacre and the hills have eyes. The sequel (devils rejects) took a rather large step away from what we saw in the original. The only thing the two movies have in common is the firefly clan. House had a group of youngsters find their way into a firefly trap and all the madness that follows (dr satan). Devils rejects was more of a "on the run" road movie with some truly disturbing psychological moments (unlike house).

The differences between Halloween 1 and 2 alone should be enough for anyone not to consider him a one note filmmaker. No matter how bad the movies are.

Anyone who has given up on rob zombie before seeing the lords of Salem are doing themselves a huge disservice. Easily the best movies he's made and really quite different from his other films. It's all about atmosphere.

It looks like a mime because it's a new mask stolen from a new location from Myers himself.

That's why the mask is different in Halloween 4.
I find it interesting that the mask in HALLOWEEN and HALLOWEEN 2 is a modified William Shatner/ Captain Kirk mask, whereas the "next generation" of HALLOWEEN movies have Myers essentially using a modified Data mask:

What makes (the original) BLACK CHRISTMAS that much better is that you think they're giving you motive and a backstory...
[Show spoiler]until the reveal at the end

I was with you all the way until I read this. Lords of Salem was a complete pile of smouldering sh*t. Barely made it through. The only thing it had going for it was a great cast (well accept for Sheri Moon. I try to like her but her acting makes me ill).
