Thumbs up

If there are other Hammer titles with MGM they might get or have them. I like the fact that they are releasing MOD, Midnite movies and whatever they feel ( as do we) deserve a better release or an HD release.
Now it would not shock me to see Melting Man wind up on an upcoming set for MST3K....

** EXCLUSIVE ANNOUNCEMENT**

Cult classics THE VAMPIRE LOVERS (1970 - Starring Peter Cushing) will be coming to Blu-ray for the first time next year!
Hope Scream Factory will put their hands on a far better transfer than the one that was released in Australia, which is only slightly better than a DVD (and I'm generous when I say that)

I will be getting both of these. Thanks, SF!

Thinking of what I have from the Midnight Movies DVD line, I hope Land that Time Forgot is on SF's radar for possible release.

Hey I've actually heard of The Incredible Melting Man (thanks to MST3K). I haven't seen it though.

Don't count on it. As far as US distribution goes, no single company has the US rights to the Hammer library. Hammer did US business with pretty much every major film distributor in the 50's, 60's and 70's, so the rights are all over the place.

Horror of Dracula is with Warner Brothers. I think Dracula, Prince of Darkness is with Fox and was licensed to Anchor Bay for DVD release. I have no clue who holds the rights to The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires. Anchor Bay had a DVD release as recent as 2008, but I'm sure they licensed it from someone. IMDB says it was distributed by Dynamite Entertainment.

Vampire Lovers is with MGM via their ownership of the American International Pictures library. Likewise, MGM also has Countess Dracula, Twins of Evil and Vampire Circus, but those are already licensed to Synapse.

I think MGM would also have the rights to Dr. Jekyll and Sister Hyde and Lust for a Vampire, but I'm not sure they'd have any others.

Cool, I'm down with these. Hopefully the lack of Price is because that is the box set they are releasing next year. How awesome would that be!?

If it is a Phantasm box set they are releasing I hope they give us a heads up before Phantasm 2 is released. Don't want to buy that movie and find out in a few months I have to double dip for a box set. I doubt Scream would do that though as they seem to really listen to the fans.

That's great to hear that The Vampire Lovers is coming! It shouldn't be too hard to surpass the crappy Australian release.

Me too. Maybe it can get an individual release for once. That movie got thrown into some weird DVD combinations, first as a double feature with the Ed Gein quasi-biopic, Deranged, and then as a triple feature with Wrong Turn and Needful Things.

MGM should have all of the following:
  1. House of Usher (Roger Corman)
  2. The Pit and the Pendulum (Roger Corman)
  3. Tales of Terror (Roger Corman)
  4. Tower of London (Roger Corman)
  5. The Raven (Roger Corman)
  6. Diary of a Madman
  7. The Haunted Palace (Roger Corman)
  8. Twice-Told Tales
  9. The Comedy of Terrors
  10. The Last Man on Earth
  11. The Masque of the Red Death (Roger Corman)
  12. The Tomb of Ligeia (Roger Corman)
  13. The House of 1,000 Dolls
  14. Spirits of the Dead
  15. Witchfinder General
  16. The Oblong Box
  17. Scream and Scream Again
  18. Cry of the Banshee
  19. The Abominable Dr. Phibes
  20. An Evening of Edgar Allan Poe
  21. Dr. Phibes Rises Again
  22. Theatre of Blood
  23. Madhouse

Not sure if I'm missing any.

I already have a idea in mind for the artwork on a potential Blu of MOTEL HELL: a lenticular cover reproducing the "Motel Hell(o)" sign that opens the film, complete with the flickering "O" and "Vacancy/No Vacancy" sign, all in neon colors.

Hands of the Ripper & The Hound of the Baskervilles ('59) would be awesome (both MGM owned Hammers).

Haven't seen either in a long time, but Squirm is the one with the exploding house, if I recall correctly.
