I hated part 5 and Tina, but Wendy Kaplan was sort of quaint in a cheesy '80s way. She pulled off acid wash pretty well. The scene of her in the car and the audio not synching up is hilarious.

Yeah, I got one of those bootleg box sets years ago that had all the different cuts that exist and extras like raw behind the scenes footage & clips from Entertainment Tonight. Whoever put it together is awesome.

If the Producer's Cut actually does get released on Blu, I can't wait for the extras. I can't imagine anyone will pull any punches on what it was like making the film. The stuff in the Halloween doc was okay, but you just know there are some great stories to be told.
Daniel Farrands was asking Moustapha for story ideas and he was like "Tina is still alive", Daniel was like "No, she isn't".

I have that box set too. Poor Donald Pleasance sure tried his best to keep a straight face when talking about the movie in those ET clips.

The entire series has lots of the behind-the-scenes drama, but they are always too PC and don't talk about it.

Maybe the crew that put together the Never Sleep Again and Crystal Lake Memories documentaries will give the Halloween series similar treatment in the near future.

The H20 section could be fascinating. All the masks used, even a CG one.

Part 4 is another favorite of mine. 4 & 6 have the perfect Halloween atmosphere.

I would love if 1428 did a Halloween doc. I mean Halloween: 25 Years of Terror is ok but I'm sure 1428 could do better.

Anyone have any idea when the Pumkpin Head blus will go up for preorder? I already did the email notification thing.

It'll probably be a couple months for the preorders to go up unless there's another snafu with Amazon.

Everything known to be coming out this year from SF can be found in the first post of the thread. Just have to click on the 'spoilers' to reveal the lists.

Phantasm II is my next purchase. The review on here states it has a bit of DNR but also has nice detail. It also says quite a few late '80s horror movies have a similar look. I guess there is only so much they can do with film stock of that time period.
You might want to hold off on that. After looking at the Caps-a-holic comparison between the Scream! blu and the former DVD releases, it is an obvious upconvert, and with contrast boosting to boot:

Scream! Blu-ray:

US dvd:

UK dvd (Phantasm Sphere release):

Obvious upconvert? Reggie Bannister's hair follicles and the reflection in his sunglasses seem to indicate otherwise. I don't doubt that the Universal DVD and Scream Factory Blu-Ray are sourced from the same master, but it's evident that the Scream Factory disc is not an upconvert.

Indeed. I am usually terrible at interpreting screencaps, but those Scream! caps look way better than the DVDs. Way better.

The only thing "obvious" here is that the Universal DVD was made from the same Universal HD master that the blu-ray was, and that Shout! decided to futz with it and make it a little worse (per their norm). But it's still clearly HD. It may be an old 1080i made-for-cable transfer that has been de-interlaced, but it's HD all the same.

I don't. I think it was just mentioned somewhere on this forum that it was coming, but Synapse and Scream Factory both said it wasn't coming from them. Rumor has it that Lion's Gate got the Miramax catalog, but I'm not sure if that would include the producer's cut.
