I hope the Producer's Cut gets released on Blu. There is a 35mm print in existance. I prefer the Theatrical Cut, but would like to see an HD version of the P-cut.
I haven't seen Echo Bridge's release of Halloween 6, but the lack of 5.1 made me avoid the release. There has been mention that the Producer's Cut is coming to blu-ray sometime soon, but I hope it also includes a solid release of the theatrical cut, since that's the version I've always known.

Do you know which company is releasing it?

I find the P-cut too slow moving and a bit hokey. Jamie's death is scarier in the T-cut. It's just a more intense film.

If they filmed Daniel Farrands script the way it should have been, maybe the P-cut would be better. The opening scene was supposed to mimic the original Halloween. Having Danny walking up to the house, to the kitchen, grab a knife and attack Kara, which then revealed that it was a dream sequence. The chase scene after Kara went back into her house was supposed to be more involved, with Kara having to climb over her dead father in the basement, to go out a window.

It could've been great if Joe Chappelle hadn't wasted time and money filming the Strode family drama, doing so many takes for scenes that had little to do with the rest of the film.

Maybe people who don't have the the funds for the blu-ray if the DVD cost $5 and the blu cost $20 or someone who doesn't have a blu-ray player.

If someone doesn't have a blu-ray player, why are they at a blu-ray forum?

I can, people are interested in what people have to say about HD films, take part in movie discussions.

You are - some people prefer DVD to blu ray...so far all you've contributed is being a blowhard about how much you love blu ray movies, and how wrong it is to not have a blu ray player. It's like every other comment you post is just so much how you love blu ray and why would anyone want SD quality . Im glad you love it , glad you're enjoying it , but these repeated narcissist posts about it while putting down other members that are not so much in love with it, and those who still watch DVD , especially the members that have been here a lot longer and contributed a ton more than you is becoming really irritating

Pardon my ignorance (I've no head for who owns what), but what are some of the Universal botch jobs that Scream/Shout have been saddled with?

At least I'm not alone in my opinion. Calling people "fanboys" is inflammatory. I have never used inflammatory names. I have backed my opinions up with facts. If I'm wrong, then why have people agreed with me?

Try having a discussion without resorting to name calling.

Cat People, Phantasm II, Darkman and They Live are the first that come to mind, but there are certainly others. It might be easier (and I'm not being facetious here) to list the Universal transfers that don't have issues. I thought Psycho II looked quite good.

Psycho II and III both look really great. They are probably my favorite Blus in my collection.

Phantasm II is my next purchase. The review on here states it has a bit of DNR but also has nice detail. It also says quite a few late '80s horror movies have a similar look. I guess there is only so much they can do with film stock of that time period.

Cheers, NoirFan. Darkman and Cat People were both pretty underwhelming visually, but I'm not familiar with the others (I own They Live, but haven't watched it yet).

I've also seen Prince of Darkness getting flack but I thought it looked amazing. Psycho II as well. They Live didn't deserve the flack it got either because while may have had some DNR, it doesn't look as bad some claim nor does it look as DNR-laden as some of the other suspect releases.

Have you listened to Farrands' Halloween 6 commentary? It's absolutely fantastic. It could have been the best sequel if they had adhered to his original script.

I think the Producer's Cut is crap, but the extra gore is nice and it's fun to watch for just how incredibly stupid it is. The main problem is that the script had the whole mythology plotted out, but they quickly gutted much of it and randomly chose what to keep, robbing it of any sense. The theatrical cut isn't any better, it's just a different kind of bad, but I can't fault the studio for wanting something other than the 20 minutes of hocus pocus that end the original version. Paul Rudd fumbling with those stupid stones...oy vey.

All that being said, both cuts have great atmosphere and I enjoy them more than all the other sequels because I love crazy. That whole Thorn storyline tickled me.

The commentary is awesome, it's where I got all my info about the movie.

Have you seen the unrated director's cut? Terrible quality, but amazing over-the-top gore. The scene with the orderly getting his face smashed against the bars ends with his face falling off. I think the opening scene is also different from either the T-cut or P-cut.

Part 6 is very nostalgic for me. I think it is wonderful. The behind-the-scenes drama is fascinating, too. Can you believe Moustapha Akkad wanted to bring Tina from Part 5 back?

I didn't know that about Tina! Good lord.

Yeah, I got one of those bootleg box sets years ago that had all the different cuts that exist and extras like raw behind the scenes footage & clips from Entertainment Tonight. Whoever put it together is awesome.

If the Producer's Cut actually does get released on Blu, I can't wait for the extras. I can't imagine anyone will pull any punches on what it was like making the film. The stuff in the Halloween doc was okay, but you just know there are some great stories to be told.
