Other studios like Mill Creek or Echo Bridge just slap on dsic whatever transfer they are provided and charge <$10 per multiple feature disc. I find it ironic that people are excited Scream Factory teased about a possible deal with Echo Bridge because that likely just means the same lukewarm transfer for four+ times the price. I cannot imagine how high the profit margin is with Scream Factory (or Twilight Time) doing the same and charging $30. Scream Factory charges a premium price so should offer a premium product.

It seems more plausbile that SF has poor quality control so is unaware of their lackluster transfers or producers aren't zealous about pursuing better elements when available. Scream Factory is a dream come true, but I wish they would take picture quality more seriously.

The deal is with Miramax, not Echo Bridge. Echo Bridge doesn't factor in at all with Scream Factory's Miramax deal. Or Miramax at all, considering they are no longer having their catalog distributed via Echo Bridge.

I agree that they should work harder to acheive better all around quality, though.

I don't think that was what he was referring to. I think it may be prestige wanting to be a mod, despite sometimes being told to stop talking about Arrow and their releases in this thread.

Yeah I'm excited, I picked up Night of The Demons in March/April and with these latest additions now own a fair chunk of the titles but have a bunch left to go. The big titles on my radar at the moment are Witchboard, Sleep away Camp, and Slumber Party Massacre.

When do they "tinker"?

They either strike their own master (which in most cases look fantastic, like The Fog) or use the one supplied by the studio. They don't tend to mess with the transfer in any real way on a regular basis, at all. The do, however, have regular compression issues but that's not from "tinkering".

**UPDATE on THE BATTERY**

Several months ago we announced that the 2012 zombie film THE BATTERY would be coming out this Fall and now we can officially report a few confirmed details about it:

- Street date is 9/16. Pre-order links are going up soon.

- There will be a separate DVD and Blu-ray releases. Slipcovers planned on both.

- Artwork (as pictured) is reversible. The newly-created illustrated version (from artist "Kung Fu" Bob O'Brien) is one side and the original theatrical poster is on the other.

- No details on extras...but we are planning for them.

This dark comedy received rave reviews from many reputable horror outlets and fans last year and we're thrilled to be giving this fun ride and a shot at even being exposure. Stay tuned for more details in later on in our "Summer of Fear".

Is there more info on the Miramax deal? Where did the "they got ONE title from Miramax" come from?

I'd figure they'd release for I and II on the same day but we haven't heard anything about II since the initial announcement. Still possible I guess.

EDIT: I guess not.
