Another 80s kid here with the same experiences. Barely above poverty, but we would stretch our money to make room for entertainment. I started with horror on the Saturday night double features on television. Mostly it was the old Universal stuff, as best I can remember. Eventually we got cable and The Movie Channel and later on a VCR.

Scream is offering up some of the ones I remember fondly. I only just recently got my first scream title, but there will be more. Really looking forward to Pumpkinhead, which is one of the gems of its era in my opinion.

Glad to see some of us never lost touch with our horror love. I miss the charge of fear it gave me back then, but the nostalgia buzz is better than nothing.

I was born in 84, so it was the early 90's when I really got into horror. I would go to Blockbuster every week with my folks and pick out a few different horror movies. Most of them were a mixture cheesy, low budget and some with better budgets films like Alligator, C.H.U.D., Slugs, Pumpkinhead, The Howling, etc. I was hooked, especially one giant killer animals and monsters. Scream Factory brings many of these into my life and often it's the first time I've seen them on anything but VHS. I love Scream Factory for bringing these back into my life. Yes most of them are a bit on the pricey side, but I feel like if SF didn't put them out, I'd never see them on blu ray. That's why they get my business and 95% I buy them directly through SF even if they are cheaper on Amazon.

I reccomend the channel Epix: Drive-In. Its a premium channel, but I believe they have a streaming app similar to HBO GO for Ps3 and more. They have new films like World War Z on the regular Epix channels, but the Drive-In channel plays horror moves like Legend of Hell House, Amityville Horror, Night of the Living Dead, Carrie, and older comedies like Bad News Bears and Blue Summer. Usually all night they play horror, at least from what I've noticed lately (TBH I don't stalk the channel lol)

Yeah, I rate The OWL, too. Guys like him, Chip75, Todd Tomorrow and a few others are brilliant posters because they have interesting stuff to say and can be very informative. They also know how to debate without resorting to nastiness. I try to emulate that. I love those guys

I finished watching The Final Terror last night, I guess the picture quality was OK for what was left to use. I would say it was a good horror film but not a good slasher. It really lacks the body count seen in other slasher films. The extras were great, gave a lot of detail into the making of the film.

I thought they used to specifically say how many posters would be available. Like x title has 500 posters so the first 500 to order get a poster. If they aren't giving numbers anymore maybe they are just using posters as an incentive to order direct. Either way I would think your good to get a poster on dolls. Most people probably don't order direct and while dolls is popular it's not Halloween 2 or the fog.

Probably depends on the titles. When I got Terror Train and The Funhouse from Shout it was 6 or so months after release and they still had posters available. They Live posters were long gone at that point. I think you'll be safe with Dolls.

When the Posters are gone Shoutfactory/Scream Factory will remove the poster offer from the listing on their site. Considering Dolls just went on sale, you are all but guaranteed to get a poster if you buy from them this week. Plenty of other titles that have already been released are still offering the poster as well.

Continuing the "collection" talk; my wife absolutely hates horror movies, and isn't particularly high on buying movies period, but when I explain to her how much I use to love browsing through the horror section of the rental places when I was a kid, she's totally sympathetic. I want my kids to be able to experience the fun of exploring a huge library of films, even if it means I had to be the one preserving it.

...of course they'll probably only be interested in what's on their iPad or something. At least at first.

I guess I kind of started this "COLLECTION" talk and just wanted to reassure anyone that I would never look down upon any of their purchases. We all like what we like. I was merely just curious why a person would feel compelled to own every single bit of a distributors catalog when it comes to movies because in essence, we are buying MOVIES and not SCREAM. And I understand the collector side of it all. I am just wondering how the mind can go from buying one or two or 10 films they love from a company and then go nuts and get em all.

Again, I think it's just a trademark of the horror community. If you love The Fog or Night of the Demons, it's probably not too much of a stretch to assume you'd have interest in purchasing Witchboard or Swamp Thing.

As opposed to, say, Criterion, where I love Blow Out and The Wages of Fear, but have absolutely zero interest in something like Vanya on 42nd Street or The Makioka Sisters.

Comes back to volume too. I want EVERY older horror movie, not just what Scream releases.

i have the entire scream library, and basically as far as it goes i mainly grabbed a few i saw at a video store, not having any idea what scream was, because i liked the movies. my first 4 were Day Of The Dead, Night Of The Comet, Night Of The Demons, and Swamp Thing. after watching those, and seeing how well crafted the whole package was, i just wanted to explore more movies, so i just bought a lot of like 10 off of amazon, and saw "wow, they really care about what they are releasing, they spend so much time on special features, as well as the design, the whole thing" so i set off to just buy them all to see what all i could discover. i didn't really see my first horror movie until i was an adult, because my entire childhood was spent chasing rock & roll, after i bought a dvd player though, i started getting into anchor bay just because the artwork of the posters was just so zaney.

i will say though, my dad was a STAUNCH beta-maxx supporter up to 1991 when he finally got a VHS VCR. so we only had a small alcove of selections at each rental shop we went to there was one shop we went to in the late 80s/early 90s, where the shop owner had a pet alligator in a kiddie pool in the horror section. it was crazy.

I feel the same. I really dig horror movies, and I really like Scream Factory, but I am not compelled to get every tittle. I only buy what I truly like, and that is it. I suppose some people are going to want it all, so good for them. I currently have 15 Scream Factory tittles and Piranha from Shouts' Corman line. I don't think there is anything else they have released that I need, but I am looking forward to the second Vincent Price Collection, Tales From the Crypt, and Dolls.

I picked up the Scream Factory Blu-ray of Terror Train at Movie Stop today for $17 and change. I'm looking forward to revisiting some good old early 1980s HBO memories with this one.

I saw several copies of Motel Hell at the store, but I remember that movie being a little too over-the-top and comedic for my tastes, so I passed it by. (I might change my mind on this later, and I might not. I dunno.)

I also grabbed The Wicker Man (The Final Cut) (1973), because I've been meaning to revisit this movie for the longest time. I wish that Scream Factory had handled this one, but I'm just glad to see it on Blu-ray in any form or fashion.

It shouldn't be a problem. In most cases, it seems the limited posters typically run out sometime around the street date.

And as mentioned, the Shout Factory page will remove the exclusive poster listing once they have run out. Even in your shopping cart, the item should say "+ Exclusive Poster". So as long as you see that, you're good.

Is there a greater chance of getting a slipcover if you order from Shout directly? I usually don't care about such things but their reversible artwork makes slipcovers really nice to have because you can have two different covers at once.

I'd hate to have to get the older releases I want on ebay second-hand just to get a slip.

Depends on the movie, but probably not. Last October, I think they had a sale where their movies were $15 with free shipping. They had another sale in June if I recall, when they were offering the free coasters. I would imagine that wiped out a lot of the slipcovers on their older releases.

not necesarily. i ordered prison and deadly blessing from them 6 weeks ago, no slips. and CS said they were all gone. so no luck. with the older titles, it is truly a game of russian roulette.

I find slipcovers on the older releases at Movie Stop, so you might want to try that place if there is one in your neck of the woods. When I bought Terror Train earlier today, the slipcover was in perfect condition. I'm pretty sure that I own slipcovers for all of the Scream titles in my collection that originally came with them, because I've bought most of the titles in person.
