Now, if they could convince Universal to put their "The Thing" disc OOP beforehand, maybe I could see it happening.
Didn't happen with The Shadow so I wouldn't expect Universal to put The Thing in OOP status. Scream doesn't have a problem releasing a film with a studio edition right next to theirs, as evidence of The Shadow. If Scream is able to put out a superior product, those in the know will buy that instead. It's the "bargain" hunters that will buy the cheaper copy.

The US release doesn't have much supplemental material. Most people do not import.

Good point. I had forgotten about The Shadow. For the record, I would love to see Scream do a disc of The Thing with a new transfer. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

The US release has everything that was on the two-disc DVD special edition. That wasn't a bad package. All it's "missing" is the new interview featurettes that Arrow created. Would Scream be able to license those? I don't know. Have they licensed extras from Arrow before?

Scream Factory always throws in really nice things, in terms of supplements, cover art, and solid movie transfers (although I hear that the existing disc is quite good already).

I'm not typically a bells-and-whistles person, but I'm good to shell out a couple of extra dollars just for the supplements for upcoming movies like Mad Max or Escape From New York.

Yeah, Big Trouble in Little China is a good enough movie that I should have bought it already, but I've always had bigger fish to fry when I'm in a store. That happens sometimes.

I think so? All of the stuff from the Phantom of the Paradise arrow disc is on the US one, I think arrow produced at least some of it special for that release. Maybe it was all ported over from earlier stuff though. I think there's got to be some back and forth going since a lot of their stuff has overlapping features (ex, Lifeforce). I don't really know how it works, it seems like Red Shirt Pictures makes the majority of these new features and both companies seem to buy from them. I don't know if Red Shirt makes the stuff and then sells them to whoever wants to put them on their disc, or if Scream or Arrow is paying them to make the feature and then Arrow has to pay Scream (or vice versa).

I have the Arrow disc of BTILC and highly recommend it for anyone with a panasonic player.

All I remember the blu ray having is an old EPK, the music video and the commentary. They could certainly do better than that.

Link is a terrific little movie and very underrated. Great cast, great director and a lot of fun.

Yeah I did earlier today. Haven't taken a look at the new site yet though. Site redesigns generally don't do much for me... Particularly when its really just for a store front, but maybe this one will surprise me.

Checked through it earlier. Not bad. Their site was kind of older-looking. Just have to get used to the new look. Don't like not having the cover images on the main pages though.

I like the old site personally. I mean it was simple and ran fast.
Now the new site has or seems to be slower on my pc.

It does seem to run a little slower, especially on my iPad.

Nightbreed on their new website mentions several special features on there, including commentary by Barker, new making of with much of the talent, etc.

Also mentions The Dark Half and Monkey Shines having at least commentary by Romero and a trailer.

Edit: They updated the site and removed the special features from these titles.

I know a lot of people hate the reverse cover art for Pumpkinhead but I just found out something really cool. If you flip the cover art, the old lady will show through the cut out of where the UPC is supposed to show.

[Show spoiler]

As for the PQ, I'm no expert but there was some compression issues throughout the movie but it wasn't too bad. Still looks the best it ever has on home video. Still haven't gotten the chance too watch the special features though, hope to get to those by tomorrow.

I'd settle for a DVD at this point. Even of the lousy Korty cut. At least I have my laserdisc.
