I like the annoucement. It's good to see Scream branch out just a little, if anything, to attract new customers.
Is it known if either of these will be CE?

Some friends and I went to see Once Bitten at the theater on the night of release back in 1985. It's not quite in the same league as Love at First Bite, but it's a good little slice of 1980s B-movie nostalgia.
There was an article on how Once Bitten was originally intended to be a satire on aging Hollywood, and the vampire was more of a retired-actress, as a sort of Sunset Boulevard with fangs--But that whole subplot got lost in the dumbing down of quick high-concept 80's comedies, and the push for new young "Duck Factory" star Jim Carrey.

LaFB, OTOH, is still hysterical. (Speaking as one geezer enough to have seen it in the theater, twice.) George Hamilton pulls off the satire with deadpan perfection.
As for whether they can get the song, I'm now convinced that Shout Factory can do just about anything.

They air it on FLIX quite frequently. I have it saved on my DVR.

No interest here either. Like, AT ALL. I was surprised how little replay value Lake Placid had for me as well. And that's BETTY WHITE and a GIANT CROC! But hey, I'm not a completist, and I'm sure SF will also be releasing stuff that I actually want.

Good morning everyone. We start our month-long "Shocktober" celebration with a new title announcement (one of several this month). Actually, we have TWO films to reveal today that will be in a double-feature: The horror comedies LOVE AT FIRST BITE (with George Hamilton) and ONCE BITTEN (with Jim Carrey)! This is the first time on the Blu-ray format for both films and is expected to land near Valentine's Day 2015. No details on extras at this time.

Oh, man I have fond memories of Love at First Bite.

Yeah, it's not very good. But it was the first "horror movie" I was allowed to watch alone. A couple of classmates had told exciting tales about the Dracula movies they had watched on German TV, and so when this was listed in the TV guide I pestered my mom for a week before she caved in and let my watch it - on the conditions that I had to watch it alone, and that I was not to bother her at night if it gave me nightmares. I still remember being rather anxious when I sat down to watch it late some night in a dark house. And then it turned out to be a comedy.

Oh man, Once Bitten brings back late-night HBO/Cinemax memories. Not a purchase for me but fun to see it coming out on blu ray.

Amazon sale looks good, assuming it lasts until Friday I'll be getting some titles for sure.

Just pulled the trigger on The Burning from Amazon for $16. Really want to nab Prison and The Final Terror as well but I also want to wait and see what SF's October sales will look like

Both Love at First Bite and Once Bitten are films I loved watching when I was a kid so I have no problem picking up this double feature but I do hope Scream Factory can get the original disco song back in First Bite because that was all over the advertisements for it and even today I can't help it when I hear "I Love the Night Life" thinking of this film.

Never said 7 bucks was too much, don't know where you got that. I like Rodan, I don't love it, and I don't like War of the Gargantuas. So The double feature DVD isn't a purchase that I was rushing to make. I was just hoping for a solo release, regardless of the format. Of course that's probably never going to happen so you my be right, I may just have to suck it up and buy the current DVD set.

The The Amityville Horror Trilogy is down to $33. Want to get that when I get paid again. Surely there will be sales like this lasting through October 31st?

The Love at First Bite/Once Bitten is a combo I never would have expected.

I'll have to have it.

Once Bitten I watched when I was 4 years old. I never discovered Love at First Bite until older.

Oh My Stars And Garters!!

Love At First Bite!! I love that film. "Come back Black Chicken!!"

Please.... Scream Factory! Try to get the rights for the song "I Love the Nightlife" by Alicia Bridges.

The Disco Scene in the film is so much less awesome with the replacement music used on the DVD.

Yes. This. A thousand times this. I want to start a collection if we have to to make this happen.

Man. I hope it includes Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster so we can maybe get a DVD release of the MST3K episode which features it. I doubt it includes Megalon, so the people who missed Volume 10 are still out of luck on that.

I don't think this agreement will lead to any BD releases (emphasis mine):

Quote:
(Westchester's) strength lies in rights for platforms including digital broadband, pay TV, VOD, satellite and broadcast networks.

Shout!, meanwhile, is seeking to diversify beyond DVD sales and aiming to launch a digital channel this year.

“We want to continue to grow our nonphysical distribution business,” Shout! president and co-founder Garson Foos said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “This is a really good strategic move for us to acquire Westchester Films. Most of its revenue is from broadcast and digital. Going forward, we want to acquire libraries with significant digital and broadcast revenue streams.”

I'll be honest and say i groaned when they said they we're branching out into different kinds of films but man i grew up on Once Bitten and LAFB the cheese fest dance scenes in both are worth the price alone. Day one for me and can't wait.
