They weren't good, I won't be going out of my way getting them. The UK release will have the original Scanners included with 2 and 3....

Sadly, we don't have the rights to the original SCANNERS...but we were able to get them for its sequels. SCANNERS II: THE NEW ORDER (1991) and SCANNERS III: THE TAKEOVER (1992) will finally make their debuts on DVD in 2013...and possibly Blu-ray too.

Thanks for the heads up on this, Cliff. At least we're getting some "Scanners" love in some way. Is there any hope in the future for the original "Scanners" though?

Second Sight will be releasing the original Scanners along with 2,3 & the Brood soon! i will be waiting for this for sure

As per every Friday we have some happy people and some people who couldnt care less. All of their releases will please some, and oh well to others...I wonder if there is any release we would or will all rejoice on ..The Fog ? Vampire Lovers ?
At any rate all of our wallets will be affected by something SF will release.

I havent viewed any of the Scanner sequels. I remember not being into the first Scanners but the book reviews called # 2 fair/lively and 3 so-so..its about exploding heads.
I might rent # 2 to check it out, same for Schizoid...I am curious enough to try them and if theyre good Ill get em, if they are bombs at least I tried.

Yeah have to admit I'm a little disappointed with these releases since Second Sight is releasing a Bluray trilogy set with the superior first film. I'm not region free so I'll probably eventually grab these but I it still stinks knowing there is something else better out there. And for those region free I doubt many will go for Scream's releases.

Kind of funny, Scream has released Halloween 2 and 3, with Phantasm 2 and Scanner 2 and 3 upcoming. I hope someone releases Scanners and Phantasm in NA as it's weird owning all the sequels but none of the superior first films.

This is true. I wonder if instead of holding all the big titles for the horror festival, if they announced them in between the smaller titles it might have worked better in their favour. Throw out soem lesser titles then an A title, lesser titles then an A title. Either way, I'll be grabbing everything they put out, these films included. They just might not be first day purchases that's all. Hopefully these films are part of a double feature, as I don't know how many copies of Scanners 3 they will sell by itself.

I have been begging for The Fog since they started these announcements. As long as they announce that at on Nov. 16th I will be a happy camper.

There's a photo of Cronenberg visiting the Criterion offices floating around at one other website - with some suggesting that Criterion might be doing this. If true, this would be beyond awesome. Otherwise, there's still the Second Sight trilogy Blu-ray box set coming up - it's the only way I'll buy the sequels. Then again, a Scanners Blu (from whomever) wouldn't feel complete without the first 2 sequels included as a "bonus". Either way, we're going to be fully "scanned" next year
