Me neither. I think Supernova would have a tough time in the $5 bin, let alone for $15. Robot Jox probably has a small cult following, but I bet most would take a look at the back, see the cheesy effects, and move on. Scarecrows would sell on the name and cover alone, not to mention the fact that it is a 80s slasher film.

Past sales and star power were probably the deciding factors on what gets a standalone release vs. what gets double feature treatment. I have no idea how well these films sold in the past, but Scarecrows is decidedly lacking in star power by comparison.

I think you're giving Scarecrows a bit too much credit. I could easily see Supernova and Robot Jox both outselling it. On top of that, I've never really considered it a slasher...

i use amazon too, but VERY begrudgingly. nothing annoys me more than having to order crap on the internet. because i want it now. i don't want it in 2 days, or 1 day, or whenever. i want to go up the road, walk into a store, and buy crap, and go home and enjoy it. all within the matter of 30 minutes of my time. it just irritates me because there are so many times i'm like "i want this movie" so i get in the car, go to all 5 best buys here. nothing. go to a few walmarts, nothing. go to a few targets, nothing. go to fye, nothing. spend 4 hours driving around trying to find this, then i have to subject myself to the annoyance of having to order online. now i have to wait. and wait. and wait. and by the time i get it, the weekends over, i'm back to work and all that, and my 2 days off were squandered on waiting. i blame steve jobs and reed hastings. they had to ruin the whole brick and mortar thing. oh.... and god knows, if i want madea, i can find THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY COPIES on the shelf. why? no one is buying that crap. they just sit there. and i'm thinking "you know, if these guys had the movies i want, i would be buying them, and they would get money, and the city would get my tax dollars. instead, amazon is getting my money, and the city gets squat." and i would gladly pay, to have the peace of mind, and convenience, that i am getting the release when and how i want it. all they have to do is order 1 or 2 copies on release day of these movies. i'm sure 1 or 2 people would buy it as blind buy for the art if i don't come along myself. i just miss the days of talking with my friends about a movie, and 10 minutes later we are at walmart at 3 am buying it to go back home and watch it. now if i want to do that, i have to hope to god it's on netflix, or amazon prime instant, [Show spoiler] just so i can have that same level of instantaneous viewing we used to have, but its not the same level, because i can't own that product on my shelf, and the movies i want ![]() oh well... ![]() |

I am kinda surprised the store situation is so bad around most of you guys, I live in a cultural wasteland (tiny town in Wisconsin) but some of the neighboring small towns have indie record stores with decent bluray sections, and then there's a barnes and noble which is always heavily stocked with criterions.
I've bought most of my scream factory discs from these record stores recently, actually, since they almost always get the new ones when they come out and always have them for 19.99. The chain is called "Exclusive Company," it might be Wisconsin-specific unfortunately. |

Now its such a guessing game if these stores actually have something you want. You end up wasting $10 in gas just looking for a $10 movie. Back in the days you just went to Best Buy or Circuit City and it was all there.

this city is evidently too large to support a hastings, but there are 2, 1 hour away in different directions. i go there occasionally, and have gotten a few scream factory titles too. i'm just irritated the big box stores don't care better variety, but they have Madea literally OUT THE A** lol |

I would think these sort of titles would sell much better if they were a limited run, like Twilight Time do, but not for $30. |

They're not the cheapest to order from. I order from them for all the Collector's Editions because I want the posters. All of the other titles I get from Blowitoutahere when they have a sale (which they are currently running). Blowitoutahere is probably the cheapest place you can find them (especially with a sale). If you want the posters, go with Shout. If you want the cheapest option, go elsewhere.
Shout doesn't have any free shipping deals unless it's sale or they're celebrating something (new website, anniversary, etc) as far as I know. |

The Best Buy down the street from me is terrible. If you're looking for a glittery tiger-stripe iPhone protective case, though, then that's the perfect store for you. There's a Movie Stop about 10 miles away that sells Scream Factory titles, but I get the feeling that the store is an endangered species. I also like Barnes & Noble for picking up my Criterion titles during sales. |
