But they only released that because of the new movie. I don't have much faith in them unless someone there gets a clue that they can make money on their catalog instead of just sitting on it.

I completely agree. Those would make an excellent Double Feature! And fill the void in my Collection between the first and Sorority House Massacre.

For me personally, the plan is to still get every Scream release, but not with the ferocity I bought 2014's releases.

As of right now, my only release date buys are:
Supernova (yea, yea...)
Phantom of the Opera
Dog Soldiers
Class of 1984
Escape from New York
Mad Max
Sleepaway Camp II & III

Everything else can wait for a good sale, or picked up here and there.

Just thought I'd share a picture of my (as of right now) complete Scream Factory collection (so far)

There are some non-Scream's in there, too, but since they were Shout!'s, I figured they should be included, as well.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

I don't have my Scream Factory tittles bunched together, so I don't have any photos of my collection, but I do love the company. The tittles that they have put out that I have are mixed in all my blu-rays in chrono order by year of release and in alphabetical for multiple tittles per year. So my first movie is Dracula ('31) and my last movie is Edge of Tomorrow, with Scream Factory releases scattered within. As of right now, there isn't any upcoming Scream Factory releases that I'm really looking forward to, except maybe Empire of the Ants, and I have yet to pick up Pumpkin Head, which I want. I hope they can circumvent the usual obstacles and score a few more movies I'd like to get.

My Scream Factory Collection:

Vincent Price Vol. 1 & 2
Tales From the Crypt/Vault of Horror
Piranha
The Fog
The Island
Terror Train
The Fun House
Halloween II
The Howling
Halloween III
The Final Terror
Psycho II
Night of the Comet
Day of the Dead
Dolls
Prince of Darkness
They Live
Lake Placid

Those are some good titles.

The only 2015 title so far that i've pre-ordered is Exterminators of the Year 3000 mostly because it was $13. I may just wait for price drops for now on.

Its going to be tough but I'm gonna try and restrain myself from buying any SF titles til March Madness. That being said of the upcoming releases I'm really looking forwards to:

-Phantom of the Opera
-Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh
-Class of 1984
-Scarecrows
-Maybe Sleepaway Camp 2/3

In addition to:
-Town That Dreaded Sundown
-Sleepaway Camp

Yes I order my copies of Monster & Weng's Chop from Amazon too. Very well done sci-fi/horror/cult and obscure title mags. Very informative reviews and articles.

Right now the only release for 2015 that is a day one pre order must have for me is Class of 1984. I'm glad Sleepaway Camp 2&3 are getting released, but unless a boxset of all 3 gets released i'm just going to stick with my DVD boxset. I'm still dumb-founded that Bubba Ho-Tep hasnt been announced, i cant see Scream not trying to get it, maybe MGM want too much or someone else has it? All I know is that Scream better pull up theyre socks and get some serious films out there because 2015 is going to give them a run for their money I think...theres a lot of competition coming around, 88 Films, Retromedia, Arrow USA, Vinegar Syndrome (and Etiquette Pictures). Not that all those companies release strictly horror but for cult films, theres alot going on in other places. My money will definately be going to something like Etiquette Pictures release of American Dreamer before it goes to something like Love At First Bite. Oh well, I do love Scream Factory, hopefully they can turn things around a bit. Also Kino is looking really good for 2015 too...

This might be an unpopular opinion, but think Scream is on it's last legs, unless it drastically changes how often they release.

They're losing out a lot of potential titles to a lot of competition, and this year so far is just B's and scrapings, with Class of 1984 and the Sleepaway Camps being the only standout titles.

Uh, they have two of their biggest releases ever coming out, Escape from New York and Mad Max. It's the holidays man, there isn't a ton of release news in general. Give them time and don't freak out.

I agree that some of the recent announcements have been less than thrilling, but Candyman, Ghoulies 1/2, Sleepaway Camp 2/3, Phantom of The Opera '89, Carrie/Carrie 2, Mad Max, And Escape from New York are as big as almost anything else they're released thus far. My bigger concern is that they're still limited to only the MGM catalog. Hopefully there are some other deals in the works because unless they go the director route, the MGM well is about dry. Time to start mining Universal or another studio. Also.. where the hell is Beastmaster 1/2? These would be great additions to the Lineup and are lacking Blu Ray releases. I'd wager they'd be received better than so many of the recent double packs.

I think as time goes by, and digital takes over more and more, studious are going to license more and more stuff out to companies like Scream. So as long as they can hold out they should have plenty to put out.

See, I did think of those two, then immediately discounted them because of the fact that they've both been released before. We don't want rehashes with some new features and art, we want things we don't have. Unless they bring new transfers to the table, they don't have a whole lot of worth in my books.

See I don't think those releases are big or important at all. A tv remake, 2 DTV sequels, 2 that are already on blu ray.

Ghoulies and Sleepaway camp are the only bigger ones I see there, and I'd never compare Ghoulies to previous bigger releases.

To each collector any given title can be considered major. With at least 4 studios licensing from MGM, all the titles Scream did not or would not license is coming back to bite them - I really think, and based on some of the things Ive read and heard if you like the 60s and 70s horror, Kino might be the studio to your eyes on. I think Tales of Terror and Crimson Altar was just the start. There were probably some reasons why Scream didnt acquire a lot of Price titles be it the licencors wanted too much $$$ or didnt want the titles to be in a box set or something. There are so many behind the scenes happenings that unless we work for the studios we will never know about them. Jeff has made many posts talking about how complex the deals are. We can only imagine. Im just glad for what we get sometimes...and never stop suggesting titles ! (although Warner and Lionsgate are very unlikely)
Id like to see them release more Spanish and Mexican horror titles. That would be a pretty cool expansion.

Just a few thoughts:

Most/all of the bigger titles from this series of MGM acquisitions had already been announced and had been scheduled for either 3rd or 4th quarter 2014 release by the time October rolled around.

Escape from New York and Mad Max would be much more exciting were it not for the preexisting Blu-Ray releases, but they're still probably two of the safest bets to be bestselling titles since the Scream Factory line was launched.

I would probably wait until after we see what Scream Factory has planned for July - October before we start making any assumptions about it's future. That's typically strongest and deepest part of their annual release schedule. They WILL need to get a little more creative, as most of MGM's higher profile titles are already licensed and/or released and there's just a ton of competition for what's left.

I wish Scream could license from other releasing companies again. I really enjoyed the partnership between Code Red and Scream, and love both Final Exam and Evilspeak.

In my dream scenario, Scream could license from Blue Underground, and give us the Blind Dead Saga in HD. I'd love to see these films on Blu Ray. I've been holding off buying the DVD set, hoping Blue Underground would reconsider their stance and release Blu's of the set.
