Feasible right?
Feasible, but odd.

More likely, if Peter Jackson did decide to work with Shout! Factory, the three genre films would be placed under the Scream Factory banner (either separate or a box set) and Heavenly Creatures would stay under Shout!.

The rumour is still that Jackson is going to go back and work on new transfers of his first four films now that he's finished the Middle Earth films, but no word on when.

I'd love to see Meet the Feebles receive an HD widescreen remaster and Braindead's full 103 minute version receive the royal treatment.

The old two disc Bad Taste LE Anchor Bay put out back in the day is still a pretty good release even today, but it getting an HD remaster would still be cool enough for me to double dip if it also includes the bonus features made for the New Zealand special edition that was released a few years ago.

Anyhow, if there's one movie that would be an interesting to see Shout Factory put out if they're working with Miramax, it would be "The Reflecting Skin", an arthouse oddity that didn't even receive a US DVD release.

Wrong. I own The Reflecting Skin on DVD in an Echo Bridge 8 pack with From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty, Dracula 2000, Subspecies, and Castle Freak. That film is goddamn awful.

The Reflecting Skin has a much better reputation than most of the other films you just mentioned, except among people looking for a brainless horror movie I guess. It's arty and weird and even though it isn't a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination it's far more interesting than any tired genre retreads and sequels.

The Braindead blu ray is being worked on now. Since PJ is giving it personal attention, I doubt Scream Factory will get it:

Who'll put it out then?

Also, I wonder if it'll get a North American release. Does Lionsgate still have the rights to Dead Alive?

Maybe if it was released as Braindead that'd circumvent that issue (if they still do have it).

Default Scream Factory Blu-ray discussion thread

Dead Alive was released theatrically and on video by Trimark through the DVD days and Lionsgate controls the Trimark catalog due to mergers and acquisitions.

For all intents and purposes Lionsgate is the original US distributor and like clockwork those US distribution rights seemed to dry up at the 20 year mark.

It wasn't an acquisition or a licensed title. It wasn't something they had to seek out. They had the rights, they released it and it went OOP when the rights expired.

I suspect all 3 of his early genre indies will be shopped around as a package deal.

I'd like to see the mockumentary "Forgotten Silver" included in a Peter Jackson Blu-Ray collection. It was released on DVD in 2004 by Anchor Bay.

Maybe, in a horror movie, I was expecting, oh, I don't know, something to happen? It's a movie where a kid has his dad kills himself and walks around with a dead baby, only to think that his neighbor is a vampire. Its a British Fright Night that replaced effects with corn. The likable characters were replaced by douchebags. There was no ending to speak of either.

In my book, Dracula 2000, Subspecies, Castle Freak, and especially From Dusk Till Dawn blow it out of the water by miles. Those are good or at least fun. The Reflecting Skin is a boring piece of shit.

Echo Bridge also released a standalone DVD of "The Reflecting Skin" prior to the 8-pack.

What are the odds of Leatherface getting a BD release in 2015?

I can't speak for The Reflecting Skin, but calling Dracula 2000 "good or at least fun" is an overstatement... IMO, of course.

From Scream Factory? Probably zero. There was some speculation about Warner Brothers releasing it this year, but with their track record it would probably only be the "R" cut of the film.

Why does nobody like Dracula 2000? I can understand the sequels, but the first is alright.

Anything with Warner has zero chance - we can hope Warner themselves get on the ball.. Id love the Hidden from WB...
It doesn't even look like SF might have a deal with Universal - but we might not know anything until Spring. All is quiet on the SF front

I would like Dracula 2000 a whole lot more if Scream gets a hold of it.
Echo Bridge...no thanks.

Yeah, I'm starting to think that the company that restored it, has licensed it to European video companies. I am hoping we get it here as well. I'm curious to see, what the pic quality is like, in these releases overseas.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Japanese import of Deepstar Six. I see that the Japanese release of Orca, is also awesome.

To be fair Warner isn't licensing because they put all their own stuff out. It's not like they're sitting on catalog material and ignoring it. Slowly but surely they're pumping things out.

Just a shame some very good things are ending up in the Archive DVDs, but at least they're out.
