If Scream and IFC Midnight have a deal, I'll really hope that Walerian Borowczyk's The Beast and Immoral Tales are included. If not Scream, I'll hope somebody will (ayyy Criterion) someday.

Edit: maybe even a release of Strickland's The Duke of Burgundy? wishful thinking.

never heard of Extraterrestrial but this definitely looks like something I'd be interested in. Hopefully shows up on Amazon.ca, as us Canadians can't get some of the shout releases

You might want to investigate the Arrow releases of both.

I used to blind buy this newer stuff based on recommendations and/or glowing internet praise but have found most of them to be barely above average, can't do it anymore. These are strictly rentals for me if they're available to rent. OTOH, I'll blind buy just about anything horror pre-1990.

Their Boro releases are actually perfect, some of the best international Blu rays of the year

Not region-free (by choice and not by choice), so that's not an option.

Im 100% with you on that. They might look good, sound good, but a lot of them turn out to be a giant MEH Id probably stream this movie, along with the Town That Dreaded Sundown and Badadook (sp?) at some point. My preference is also pre 80s, and its great to see Kino continue what Shout Factory has done, and probably still do Id venture to say.
I guess Scream needs to branch out with Kino, Olive, Twilight Time and to a lesser extent Criterion having hundreds of MGM titles between them this year !

Not quite sure that would fit their label. Berberian Sound Studio seems more fitting, and that didn't get a bluray release.

If you have a Panasonic, they will likely play, via the 'top menu' button trick.

Again, I do not have the option of going region free. Both by choice and not exactly by choice. Unfortunately that's the way the world works. At the end of the day, better than having everything frozen when my bank sees a foreign purchase.

There's no reason you can't give your bank a heads up and prevent your account from being frozen. I went region free about six months ago and am so glad I did. I'm curious what your reasons for not wanting to go region free are. Care to share?

They do give me "exceptions" that last 24 hours and have to be asked for by calling a particular number during business hours. I have asked if they can get rid of it completely but they can't because of high amounts of fraud overseas. It rules out things like flash sales, backorders and preorders. So there's not much point to it. It's just entirely too aggravating a process.

I don't want to get too much more off-topic and get in trouble.

This is by the same people who did "Grave Encounters". That got hyped way up, and I didn't care for it at all. It could be because I'm sick to death of found footage movies as well, which this new one isn't. Sitting on the fence right now.

I loved "Extraterrestrial", and I've very excited that SF is releasing it. Aliens/alien abduction/UFO movies almost always freak me out. They're the one thing that really gets to me.

I find myself only getting scared if the aliens in movies look like how aliens are always described. Like, the "Alien" movies don't scare me. They remind me more of monsters or something. But, "Signs", "The Fourth Kind", "Dark Skies", "Fire in the Sky"... all scared the crap out of me. Lol.

I think out of all of those listed, "Extraterrestrial" is my favorite. It's completely nuts from beginning to end. When it came out on VOD, I watched it three times in one weekend. It's a blast.

I like The Vicious Brothers "Grave Encounters", but I think "Extraterrestrial" is a far better, more fun, and creepier film.

You might just want to switch banks. I have Bank of America and there's no issue at all with European orders.

I'm sure people have brought this up in the past but I think it would be really cool if SF got the rights to release the anthology film(TV movie?)Nightmares.
