You got me on this, I wish I knew. I think Don May has this release though.
All I know is Lionsgate has it .. and they either dont know what to do with it or there is a rights issue ..

Wish they'd work it out asap. Would love to have this in hi-def. I have a hi-def version saved on my DVR, from a SHO airing, for about three years now!! It looks beautiful. Would love to delete it soon, make space for other things.

I'd be down for any of those. Red Sonja has already been released overseas but I'd prefer to buy local.

I'd really like Waxwork 1 & 2 (either as singles or combo) and Spookies. Pretty sure Waxwork is part of Lionsgate though since the DVD was put out by Artisan long ago, ugh, damn you Lionsgate!

This title was also listed, as a soon to be released, on this website too. However, this version was being released through Paramount.

So was Lionsgate about to release it, then were stopped from doing so?? Is it a music copyright issue as usual??

Paramount owns TV rights for Fright Night Part 2 and their 1080i broadcast has been heavily bootlegged as a promotional release with artwork that looks legitimate. There are no legitimate Blu-Ray releases for the film at this time, promotional or otherwise.

I remember something about Universal deals not happening.
I recall a quote a few (dozen ) pages back..

There's a German hardbox coming up. Not sure about language/subtitles but I'm seriously considering grabbing a copy.

Yes please!!!! Already have Red Sonja & Beastmaster on blu-ray, so those aren't needed for me anymore.

Please SF announce titles that more than 10 people have ever heard of!

Waxwork is with Lionsgate, They released it on DVD as part of an 8 film collection a few years ago That's still available. I have a lot of hope that any time now Lionsgate will start doing these same multi film collections on Blu Ray. I Honestly think that the reason a lot of the lionsgate horror hasn't been released yet is because they've been milking the digital releases of the films and have plans to eventually just throw together random sets so they don't have to put in the work for special features or artwork.

This is correct, I suspect Lionsgate does not want to fork money for the HD transfer, and knowing there is one available, they wont even pay Paramount to use the TV one. Lionagate are very cheap in what they do.

Fright Night Part 2, is part of the Vista Organization catalog, which was owned by Carolco Pictures, and ALL of the Carolco Pictues done from 1982 to 1994 have a lifetime home video (Laserdisc, VHS, DVD, Blu Ray, Digital Download) distribution though Lionsgate do to the absorption of I.V.E/f.h.e/Live Entertainment/Artisan Entertainment.

and on top of that deal, then there is...

StudioCanal (a partner of Lionsgate) owns the Carolco Library (1982 to 1995)

Carolco's 1993 Cliffhanger had/s US distribution with Sony.
Carolco's 1995 Last Of The Dogmen was distributed by Savoy Pictures (Savoys catalog is currently at Universal)
Carolco's 1995 Showgirls had/s US distribution with MGM
C2 Pictures (Carolco 2) 's Terminator 3 distribution: US: Warner Bros/ Europe: Sony.
C2 Pictures (Carolco 2) 's Basic Instinct 2 & I, Spy had/s US distribution with Sony.

Lionsgate has the following catalogs in their volt:
Lions Gate Films (American Psycho, Gods & Monsters)
Vestron Pictures (Dirty Dancing, Waxwork)
Vista Organization (Fright Night 2, Dudes)
Kings Road Entertainment (Best Of Times, Kickboxer)
Carolco Pictures (Rambo, Terminator)
Trimark Pictures (Leprechaun, Return Of The Living Dead 3)
New World Pictures (1989: The Punisher, Warlock)
Live Entertainment Pictures (The Substitute, The Arrival)
Artisan Entertainment Pictures (Way Of The Gun, Novacane)
Filmax/Fanstastic Factory (The Nun, Re-Animator 3)

They do!

They're all in black cases*, but I figured some folks might want to just see the autographed ones.

Is there a better chance of overseas blu ray release of Fright Night 2?

Don't know if StudioCanal has the rigths in Europe(I am assuming they do), but I have not heard of any BD release for Fright Night Part 2. Only the bootleg. I personally don't advocate for bootlegs, but your best bet is to track down the bootleg. And thats because there isnt an official release.

PS- I wouldnt pay $500.00 for a bootleg.

Best chance, I think, is some kind of a hardbox release from a German label since they seem to always get their hands on stuff that nobody else does.

Even though it would likely be part of a double feature (and would have paired well with High Spirits), I'd love it if Scream made an announcement for Larry Cohen's Wicked Stepmother. Truly atrocious stuff, but goofily entertaining.

He wrote a great piece on it for Film Comment a few years back where he expressed his fondness for it, so I'm sure he'd be up for a commentary.

Perhaps a Larry Cohen double of Full Moon High and Wicked Stepmother?

I saw the FN2 Blu bootleg on eBay once, it was something like $200. Someone bought it. I just couldn't afford/justify that, much though I love the film.

Since both are MGM, I'd bet money on that happening.
