I keep wondering why all of the prices on Amazon for Scream Factory's Blu-ray's are so high. Like, $26 for a collector's edition, and $22 for a regular edition? Are the prices gonna go down? I mean, they have a little, but not much. Not enough. They used to be, like, $20 for a collector's edition, and $17 for a regular edition, but not anymore.

And Arrow isn't doing much better. My first Arrow film, "Mark of the Devil" is still locked in at $27. It comes out next week, and I doubt the price will go down. Is it all just Amazon, or...?

I would order the Blu-ray's from Scream's site, but that $6 shipping just kills it for me. Yeah, you get it two weeks earlier, which is cool, but totally not worth it in the end for the price. In the end, after shipping, it'll pretty much be the same price as Amazon.

I don't know

You could wait for the Summer Of Fear sale which will be starting in early June. There will be deals and if it's like last year, shipping will be free if you order more than one title.

I could literally name 20+ more films (that are both more known and would be better sellers) we need before either of those 2 see a Blu Ray release. Psycho 4 isn't any better than yesterdays announcements (and possibly even worse than several of them) and while Death Becomes Her is a fun movie, it's nowhere near the status of a film that we need from Scream Factory. If anything, Death becomes Her has Wal-Mart $7.88 dump bin written all over it.

My top 10 for a future Uni deal if obtained:
Bordello of Blood
Death Becomes Her
Demon Knight
Jaws 2 or 3D
Nightmares
Raising Cain
The Sentinel
Shocker
Slither
Village of the Damned

I wonder if they tried for Manhunter. The movie really hasn't gotten a good Blu release. I would also love for them to get Misery.

Also I know there are better films than Psycho 4 and Death Becomes Her but I personally would love Scream to release them and I wouldn't say Psycho 4 is in the same league as the announcements they made yesterday. I mean it's not a huge title or anything but certainly bigger than most of the titles recently (save EFNY and Mad Max).

Either way I really hope they can start some new deals.

PLEASE tell me you are joking!

The existing BD of MISERY gets at 4.5 video and 4.0 audio score on this site and can be had for $9.00. I can't think of a more colossal waste of resources than redoing a perfectly good, cheap BD.

I'm at a loss to understand the mindset of people who delight in re-issue of common movies that are already available on BD while, at the same time, thumbing their noses at first time issues of video rarities.

The horror community isn't what it used to be. Horror fans used to be adventurous, experimental and took delight in the off-beat. Now, there seems to be a group that just wants more of the same..."Hey, I saw ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK on TV last month so I bought the Blu-ray...then I saw it on TV again last week so now I want to buy it on another Blu-ray. And MISERY is so good on that cheap Blu-ray that I think Scream Factory should put it on an more expensive Blu-ray".

Then again not many people are going to pay 20 bucks for some b movie nobody has heard of or even asked for.

Or you could, y'know, just buy the movies you like and not buy the movies you don't like, regardless of studio.

They don't like sub-licensee's producing their own extras.... there is reason 1 of atleast a dozen. Sony's really odd with how they do things, unlike Lions Gate or Warner Brother's which lock everyone out.....

Warner has somewhat stopped locking everybody out. Paramount got Fire Walk With Me for the Twin Peaks set. Shout got House on Haunted Hill and Nightbreed. Criterion got Badlands and has teased The New World and After Hours.

Also, Sony is becoming less strict about that, allowing extras to be produced for Twilight Time's Fright Night and The Blob.

Some of you are so damn touchy. I was thinking in terms of extras (for example new interviews with Cann, Bates, and Reiner).

Amen. I took a budgeted year off of buying blu's and when I scan Scream Factory titles I'm looking at buying it'll cost a small fortune. I LOVE they are releasing these titles...but at the same time wish it was a little more manageable a price.

But the point is why? If a label was re-releasing a film already on BD without a (necesssry) video or audio upgrade, then I would think a fair question would be, "Any new extras?" However, there are so many labels releasing so many new to BD films every month that, even if you aren't excited by six months of Scream! releases, there really is more than enough out there to sate you in the meantime. Why ***** about Film X not coming from Scream! and instead ask yourself, "Why aren't any of the other half dozen labels with an MGM deal releasing it either?" Shouldn't BD fans be excited for movies new to BD rather than simply newly commissioned artwork (or a five minute interview with some actor at a press junket for another film) for the same transfer of a film already available in the format?

Those weren't newly commissioned talking-head interviews/featurettes created especially for the BDs though.

The difference is the first releases don't have slipcovers!

I'm fine with the Mad Max and EFNY re-releases cause I'm more interested in extras than the movies in many cases, especially those old flicks I've seen a ton of times already. I'm in even more of a minority than the slipcover crowd on this site, though Also, I doubt I'd be interested if I already owned the first releases.

Amazon often lists stuff for MSRP when it's put up way in advance, then drop the price later. Scream stuff usually ships at the prices you mention at the end above.
