I was going to order that, but decided to take my chances since at least one member reported that his Best Buy store was going to have some in store. I enjoyed the film and thought that it was one of the better modern horror films. I don't know that I'd proclaim it to be the masterpiece some have, but it's definitely worth owning and did manage to creep me out just enough for me to check out my basement mid-movie as I swore I kept hearing noises down there.

Someone in one of my classes recommended me this movie. I had forgotten about it until I saw it on Amazon. I decided to blind buy it. I have been hearing pretty good stuff about The Babadook and It Follows.

I really didn't like it, but since practically everyone I trust when it comes to movies loved it, I ordered it. I figure I'll MAKE myself like it!!! I will never like that they used Warcraft 2 sound effects for the Babadook cry, though.

My copy just shipped too, although this would be my second viewing of it.

Looking forward to watching the special features as well.

You can even connect this company or brand cult phenomenon with larger social concepts like patriotism, religion, cults, racism, sexism and whatever else, if you wanted to. Many studies have. In essence human beings have a natural tribal mentality that pushes them to join teams and then take on an us-or-them attitude. A ton of both important and unimportant behaviors boil down to these instincts.

I think cult is overblown, but blu-ray collectors lend themselves to anal, autistic behaviors (like slip-cover lovers), and Scream perfectly caters to that crowd by providing products that feature the superfluous aspects these people love without actually emphasizing what's important, the film itself.

Seconding this and I even like a well designed slipcover. But when a studio cares more about the artwork and extras for their releases instead of prioritizing the films PQ/AQ first and foremost, makes me more hesitant to want to own a title. A lot of the time the inclusion of a slipcover is fine if it completes the release, as long as the presentation and features are stellar.

Okay, now I'm going to be walking around all day saying " Slip-cover lover." It's kind of fun. Rolls off the tongue in an amusing fashion...

I put slips in a drawer. Couldn't care less. I DO like fancy packaging sometimes though, like the Interstellar Neo Case, which was awesome. Slip-covers just do nothing for me, for whatever reason.

All slips are removed by me as well, and I don't particularly like digi-books either. I prefer my collection to be all regular cases and stored in Chrono-Alpha order, starting with my earliest movie, Frankenstein, and ending with the latest release that I have.

Slipcovers are a nice touch, but not essential most of the time. What are your thoughts on the Grindhouse releases though? Personally I think Grindhouse puts out the nicest collectors editions of any of these sub labels. Slipbox, 2 BD's & a Soundtrack cd, reversible art sometimes (at the very least dual sided art), a nice booklet with liner notes, and a nice assortment of special features with the film. I've very quickly become a BIG fan of the way they do their releases.

Synapse takes the top spot for Audio/Video Quality but is unbearably slow with their releases.
Grindhouse takes the cake for collectors packaging/presentation at a fair price though has a limited library and a slow release schedule.
Scream Factory wins for the quantity of releases and for a nice overall presentation at an affordable price though doesn't really excel in any one area either. They are a solid middle of the road company which is why I (and so many others) like them.

Never heard of them to be honest, but something like that sounds great. I like deluxe packaging, just not slips. Especially when they're just the same cover anyway. At least Scream has the two cover thing going on.

"A gritty, brutal, realistic evocation of battle... with aliens. Director Jabbar Raisani turns it up to 11 with the action. An exciting new contribution to both war and science-fiction genres, from a director to watch." – David Benioff & Dan Weiss, Co-Creators/Executive Producers Game Of Thrones

2021: An invading race of aliens known as the Heavies are narrowly defeated in the First Earth War. But thousands of them were left behind as a new war on terror rages. In the aftermath, a series of remote operating bases are created to defend the planet. Three Seven is the deadliest, positioned in the most hostile place on Earth.

A documentary film crew is sent to record daily life in Outpost 37, where the men, led by hardened commander Captain Spears (Rick Ravanello, Dark Haul), are under constant enemy fire. When a member of the crew disappears during a Heavy ambush, the unit launches a raid deep into enemy territory to rescue him… and make a terrifying discovery.

Directed by Jabbar Raisani (Visual Effects Supervisor on Game Of Thrones, Machete, Predators), this explosive actioner is a non-stop barrage on the senses and a first-rate science-fiction masterpiece.

From the writer/director of Grace comes "a compelling tale of psychological erosion and spectral doom." – Blu-ray.com

"Fun, supernatural teen horror" – CinemaSlasher

This truly frightening, modern ghost story follows Daniel Williamson (Keir Gilchrist of United States Of Tara and Dead Silence), a 17-year-old boy under house arrest for cyber-stalking a classmate. With his mother away on business, obsessive Daniel flirts with the idea of reconnecting with the classmate, Mona (Grace Phipps of Fright Night). But fate has different ideas for him when Mona is driven to desperate measures and Daniel discovers that someone – or something – is now stalking him. With the tables now turned on him, Daniel becomes trapped in a house he cannot leave… with a malicious presence he can't escape.

Also starring Peter Stormare (Fargo, Anamorph, 8MM, The Last Stand), Dark Summer combines "eerie elements, strong performances [and] a swirling nightmare of dubious motivations" (Blu-ray.com) into a jarring wallop of a film with "a gleefully dark finale" (About.com) that will leave you reeling!

Here's some great photos of Grindhouse Releasing's The Beyond packaging presentation. Cannibal Holocaust shares this same style but has reversible artwork as well.
