I would've preferred that the Monster Club was Vincent Price's last horror film. Although the film is relatively tame, and a bit tongue in check, it's more in line with the type of horror film that would have been appropriate for Mr. Price in the 1980s.

After sniffing around in the Wish Lists section, I think Judgement Night and Surviving the Game may be with Warner so Shout/Scream are probably not an option. As far as I know, these don't even have any international releases either. Fingers crossed Warner puts out some 90's action through Archive Collection soon...

I'm wrapping up the extras on the Blu-ray disc of From a Whisper to a Scream tonight.
The documentary, A Decade Under the Innocence, about the adventures of the filmmakers as they created movies with Super 8 cameras during their childhood and teenage years in Dalton, GA, is one heck of a fun movie, and it's one of the better Blu-ray documentaries in my collection. Right now, I'm listening to the second commentary track by writer-producer Darin Scott and writer C. Courtney Joyner, and it's just as fun-spirited as the first track from writer-director Jeff Burr that I listened to last night. |

At this point I think Tales from the Hood is my #1 wishlist film. It's never had a decent release and it just seems so unlikely that it will ever get a release which makes me want it that much more. I'm really REALLY hoping for Demon Knight and Bordello of Blood this year, but Tales from the Hood would just be icing on the cake.

I personally give an enthusiastic thumbs-up to the movie, mainly because I've lived in Georgia all my life, and I love the fact that such an independent on-the-fly movie was created in my neck of the woods, and because I like the demented EC Comics-style approach of the anthology stories. Vincent Price is a class act in his role, even if differing sources cast doubt on whether or not he liked the actual movie. All of this only strengthens my appreciation of From a Whisper to a Scream, though, because it's just another golden example of the "If something is worth doing, then it is worth doing well." mindset that seems to characterize each and every role from Price's career. This movie strengthens my opinion of Price as an all-around role model for life in general. The special features on this Blu-ray are a real treat, though, and they make the disc worthwhile even for those who might have a lukewarm opinion of the movie itself. This is one of those discs that teaches us about the art of filmmaking. I've spent the past three nights going through this Blu-ray of From a Whisper to a Scream, and it's quite nice. I have a tendency to acquire new Blu-rays at a fast pace, and I usually go from one to the next on a near-daily basis. The experience of going through this disc reminds me of my VHS/DVD collecting days when I did not have as much disposable income and when I used to "live" with each new movie purchase for several days as I watched the movie multiple times and delved into the special features several times over. It's a lot of fun. (I get the feeling that there's a lesson here somewhere....hmmm.) Last edited by The Great Owl; 05-01-2015 at 02:09 AM. |

Do all scream factory releases that have slipcovers get released with the wrap over it? I wanna get Mad Max from Amazon with a gift card but I want the slip with it.

Slipcovers are hit or miss after a few months into its release, so if you want one order early. ![]() |

I think Cat People, a January 2014 release, was the first release where the slipcover was shrinkwrapped with the rest of the packaging. All subsequent Collector's Edition releases, including Mad Max, should be packaged that way as well. I haven't heard of anyone receiving a sealed 2014 or 2015 Collector's Edition release without a slipcover.
