Just curious but what about Lawnmower Man?

I checked and the best I could find is it 's a Universal title. For some reason I remember loving this film. Last time I watched it though was 15 years ago on LD.

Maybe I shouldn't be wanting this one as we would only get the theatrical cut anyway.

Universal may have some international rights to the film, but the US rights should be with Warner Brothers (via New Line Cinema).

Cool Thanks zbinks. I am new to looking up the rights for films. I can only imagine how aggravating it is for you regulars to see the same requests and impossible suggestions all of the time. I will try and do better research next time

The Lawnmower man is a solid request that doesn't come up often. I'm always happy when someone brings it up as it's less common and an interesting film. I watched it again for the first time in probably 15 years a month or two ago. The CGI is obviously attrocious, but the film itself was better than I remembered. Honestly, if there was ever a film that could probably do well with a modern remake it's this one. I'd love a full featured Blu Ray of this film and think it'd fit the Scream Lineup great.

Any chance of SF getting the rights to Omen IV The Awakening or The Birds II Land's End (Never got a DVD release)?

Here is my list of 10 for Friday.

1)The Guardian - Universal - early 90s
2)The Lady in White - MGM - 80s
3)The Car - Universal 70s
4)Blood and Lace - MGM and *obscure* 70s
5)House Where Evil Dwells - MGM and obscure 80s
6)Death Becomes Her - Universal - mainstream - high profile comedy horror
7)The Fly II - 80s mainstream, a new deal with Fox !
8)The Thing - 80s mainstream, but in all honesty Im not 100% sure if they got it - this might be untouchable but we will see
9)Nightmares - Universal 80s
10)Ghost Story - early 80s Universal

Id love to see them get Sssssss and the Dunwich Horror even if they arent announced at SDCC. There are plenty of older movies Id like but the SDCC crowd is more toward contemporary stuff. I was thinking The House that Dripped Blood but it seems to be on ShoutTV for streaming rights.. not sure about bluray rights

If Shout makes a deal with Fox - Omen IV might happen.. Birds II is a TV movie so it might not be likely

By process of elimination, do some of you guys just simply keep asking for stuff that simply is not on blu-ray yet? Like, do you actually LIKE these movies and want the blu-rays? Would you still buy the blu-rays of Universal titles if Universal did them and they were barebones?

And Christ almighty, the "Jaws" sequels? When is the last time you people begging for them actually sat down and watched them, and honestly could admit that you'd liked them and would BUY a blu-ray release of them?

Of all the sequels the one I watch and TRY to like most is "Jaws 2", because it still has Roy, I watched this and I TRY to like it and I can't it's so bad, and it's not fun-bad or so bad it's good-bad, it's turn it off, this is terrible-bad.

"Scream Factory" have been great at giving us what we want, let's please NOT as for crap just because no one else put it out yet. Because if they listen, and do it, and no one buys it, because it's a crap title, then they say "well people requested this and look at the numbers!" It's already happened atleast twice, they've said so on the Killer POV podcast that they were disappointed in numbers for some titles, "Deadly Eyes" in particular if I remember right.

So guys, seriously, stop with the "Jaws" sequels requesting, they suck, people only want the original and it's already out. Sure, there some maniacs who do want the sequels for completest reasons, but it's a small group. If you keep asking for the "Jaws" sequels they might maybe do them and I'm sure the numbers will reflect poorly and YOU will be hurting the company. Think about that.

So because you don't like them no one else should and Scream Factory shouldn't release them? They aren't great films by any means but I enjoy them for cheesy fun and would buy them all.

The main thing I really am hoping for is Psycho IV. I know it's a tv movie but it's still pretty decent and would go great with the other three films available on Blu-ray. Village of the Damned wouldn't be a bad choice either.

oh for.... that's absurd... if you're trying to like a film there's plenty to like with JAWS 2.... it has plenty of good scenes... this is in no way a favorite film of mine but it seems like I need to defend it here all the time from the outrageous criticisms it receives here....

"Plenty of good scenes" doesn't constitute a good film. I believe the sequels did not receive a release when the original did is because Universal looked at the numbers and couldn't justify releasing them. I think that's the exact same reason why "Scream Factory" didn't pick up the final "Psycho" film, because the previous sales numbers said it wasn't going to be a good investment.

I think some people are asking for these sequels based on sentimentality or fond memories of seeing them at a young age. Here's a great example: they just announced "Demon Knight" and "Bordello of Blood." Sure, "Demon Knight" is a GREAT horror film and will do good numbers for "Scream Factory." Until recently, I had good memories, or I thought I did of "Bordello of Blood." Then I saw a new HD broadcast of it on one of the movie channels like two or three months ago and it failed to impress, way inferior to "Demon Knight" which is awesome and it reminded me how I once asked for them to release this movie on blu-ray and then recently saw it and came the revelation that I probably wouldn't even buy it, pending bonus materials. But, "Scream Factory" is smart enough that they know if they're getting "Demon Knight", might as well pick up "Bordello of Blood" too, so they don't have to hear the backlash from it's fans and "Scream Factory" knows most likely if someone is going to buy "Demon Knight" they're probably going to get "Bordello of Blood" too just for the hell of it, why not. It's what I'm going to do.

In the case of "Jaws", they don't have the original to release to justify the sequels to piggy back off the original in a way people would like I said people will do with "Bordello of Blood", are you following me here?

Not to mention as we found out, Universal, when it comes to their "beloved" franchises they don't like people creating alternate artwork ("Psycho II" & "Psycho III") for the release and seem pretty protective of them. Also, the original "Psycho" is more associated with Alfred Hitchcock and is released in box sets associated with Hitch.

The "Jaws" sequels on the other hand, Universal has not made up their mind on. It's clear that Universal or Spielberg himself has asked them to distance the original from the sequels, ala no complete box set with all the films. It's just speculation, but this is a business first and foremost for both Universal and "Shout! Factory" and I think the sales numbers for the "Jaws" sequels don't justify the labor, work and money that goes into releasing these films on any home video format. I'm sure Universal already has half a warehouse full of unsold "Jaws" sequels, unless they destroyed them.

Just get the DVDs guys, and if they ever do come out on blu-ray, thank whatever God you worship.

Yeah , I fixed it, I make typing mistakes pretty often

It still fits in the 70s to 90s

As is stands *right now* these films aren't likely at SDCC or anytime soon: The Jaws sequels, The Phantasm films, anything from Warner such as Deadly Friend, Trick or Treat 1986, Rawhead Rex, Hell Night, Maximum Overdrive.

I think these titles are possible from Scream - this is by process of elimination and whats left in the vaults..
More from MGM - I think the Species and "Curse" films would be a great fit for Scream Factory. I hope they will still consider some of older movies from the MGM Midnight movie era.
Kino will probably get some more of them as well. I hope Shout will branch out for more foreign titles as the MGM vaults of horror dwindle down. Im into older Spanish and Mexican horror titles. The Filmirage titles (La Casa, etc) are a good sign that they are exploring possibilities.

I'd be interested in HD upgrades for my Casanegra DVDs, but their quick demise probably won't bode well for future releases of those Alameda Films titles.
