All should be within reach for Scream Factory. Any/every one of these would have made a bigger splash then pretty much their entire 10 announced titles combined.
Personally, those would have caused about the same amount of a splash with me... They aren't quite "top tier" classics. Neither were the ones announced tonight. That doesn't mean they shouldn't be out. And I'm excited for all of them. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Fantastic news about BLOOD AND LACE! This film wasn't even released on VHS, and has been a long time coming. Thanks, Cliff!!!

Also very good news about NIGHTMARES and GHOST STORY.

Yeah and if Scream can't break into these two companies catalogs then I don't know what their future holds bc their well is drying up very fast when it comes to real sold titles. Universal had been picked dry just about. Imagine another year from now what will be left.

There was a DVD release in some region though. Granted not a good one.

To the people on here complaining and whining, what were you expecting? Everybody else is happy, look at Scream Factory's Facebook, there's no negative comments and everybody is just over the moon with these announcements. I guess if you spend a lot of time on here you become a pessimist or something.

have to disagree here with you-- as you can see from my collection, I don't "only buy the classics"... I buy any film that I "like" or better...

for me to be interested in only 3 out of 10 titles.... that's a pretty sad list...

and who in the world would be "over the moon" with Garbage Pail Kids as a collector's edition?????????????????

You know what.... Scream needs to stop relying on the studio titles and start going out and getting some films on their own, doing their own scans, producing high quality discs, etc. This is what will secure their future.

I'm psyched about Garbage Pail Kids the Movie. It will probably be the first CE I buy full price directly from SF to get the poster of the new artwork.

Okay, no one take this the wrong way - but who am I kidding? This post will probably cause World War III up in here...

It's getting really tiresome seeing people fill upwards of ten pages a day up with wishlists just before Scream Factory is going to announce something, then as soon as they do (and some of the most requested films are among those announcements -like Ghost Story, Nightmares, Death Becomes Her, etc.)

What do you seriously expect them to announce? Not knocking the following examples, because I actively buy their product and it's wonderful, but: Vinegar Syndrome gets praised for announcing films most people haven't heard of, Slasher Video is gonna be releasing SD film on Blu-ray, which everyone is excited about, and Arrow Video is putting out equally obscure (if not even more obscure) than the ones Shout has been doing (and at a higher price point), yet the word "meh" is rarely used in the wake of ANY of these label's decision to license and release any given film. Why is this?

Sure, Scream Factory has a compression problem that they've yet to address. And since that became an issue discussed often on this forum everyone has been utterly dismissive of Scream and Shout titles. Beyond just assuming the picture quality will be less-than perfect (to sometimes pretty bad), everyone is flat out shitting all over the entire release in general. (I mean for Christ's sake, I've read "damn. wish Criterion would have gotten _______! like half a dozen times already tonight!)

These are movies that people have been wanting, plain and simple. Sure they aren't A-list horror hits, but neither are what companies like Arrow, Vinegar Syndrome, Code Red, and even Scorpion are putting out. Sometimes they all get a hold of a bigger title, or multiple, and it's a cause for celebration. But condemning anything that isn't a so-called "big" title just baffles me. First of all, whats big to some, might not even be on the radar to others, and secondly, the movies announced tonight are at least ALL known to most (if not all) of Scream Factory's target demo (aka: horror/genre collectors). Can the same be said about most other labels? No. So lets stop this and just be thankful that these movies are coming out from all labels. It's no wonder the physical media market is shrinking if this is the new collector's mindset.

That's all. Now go ahead, feel free to tell me how I'm wrong and you don't have to be happy about anything because this is America and how dare I question your opinion. I'm listening... .

I must say that I am very surprised that Death Becomes Her is not getting the CE treatment since it is long overdue and highly anticipated. And never really getting great treatment on DVD to say the least. To give GPK and collectors edition and not this is a shame

Seeing Ghost Story on the list made me happy. It's one I'm anxious for.

Blood and Lace got me excited when I thought I read Blood and BLACK Lace. I'm unfamiliar with Blood and Lace. Lol

I'm not ecstatic over them, but definitely getting The Guardian, Nightmares, and Death Becomes Her. Maybe The Car too.

Rotld is nice, and I'll likely get it, but I would have been more happy if they would have also announced Rotld 2 instead of...

Garbage Pail Kids? Definitely Shout! Factory material, but this was a disappointment to see on the list.

Don't care about Troll 1 and 2. Never did, though I love the documentary on Troll 2.

Women's Prison Massacre I don't like. Not my favorite Mattei movie or wip film. Never understood why it had some cult status.

You are the COOLEST man ! I knew there would be posts about *waaah no Phantasm* or *im just so disappointed* , thats just how the forums and the Scream Facebook page is. Not every title will please every single collector.. and we all know Scream has more from Universal and MGM , plus other stuff coming down the pike, so who knows..someone's wishlist could come true. You wont see MGM release their deep catalog titles thats for sure !

Given his following Peter Jackson making a release announcement himself would make more sense than SF at SDCC as would him taking time to vet a distributor (if he doesn't self distribute).
How about Criterion for PJ's movies?

We just revealed the following upcoming Scream Factory blu-ray releases at our Comic Con panel this evening. Here's the exciting line-up:

1. WOMEN’S PRISON MASSACRE (1983) - First women-in-prison film in the Scream Factory roster. Bonus points for being Italian-made.
2. BLOOD AND LACE (1971) – First time ever on a home entertainment format!
3. TROLL (1986) – Which will be paired with Troll 2 as a double feature.
4. GHOST STORY (1981)
5. THE GUARDIAN (1990) – From the Director of The Exorcist!
6. THE CAR (1977)
7. NIGHTMARES (1983)
8. DEATH BECOMES HER(1992)
9. GARBAGE PAIL KIDS: THE MOVIE (Collector’s Edition) (1987) – Not horror of course, but “gross” enough!
10. THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (Collector’s Edition) (1985) - !!!

We have no details to report on this time other than that Death Becomes Her, Blood and Lace and Troll are slated for November 2015 street dates. The rest will roll-out in the months to follow with ROTLD likely releasing in Summer / Fall of 2016.
Awesome man, i can't wait for DBH, Troll, Blood and Lace (time to throw away that bootleg DVD), Ghost Story, Nightmares, The Guardian and GPK (I saw this in theaters as a kid and a guilty pleasure), ROTLD (i don't have this on BD) and The Car since The Car, Death Becomes Her, The Guardian etc. were requested titles from me, i will sell my old DVDs for cash and get the BDs right away.

Yes indeed and you requested Nightmares (now possible in a widescreen BD than the crummy fullscreen DVD from Anchor Bay) and Ghost Story too?

4. Killer Klowns From Outer Space (wouldn't say it's a longshot)
5. Carrie (longshot)
6. Poltergeist II
7. Poltergeist II
8. Theater of Blood
9. Jeepers Creepers
10. Slither
Thats better BUT Theater of Blood is with Twilight Time, they just have not announced it yet
MGM just did the Poltergeist movies which means eventually Scream could release them along with Killer Klowns. MGM has a policy about licensing, usually they do not sublicense their top 200 sellers until they do a blu ray themselves. I can see Scream doing Jeepers Creepers..
Carrie was shot down by Scream for some reason, having to do with the film elements, now to me, this is a title Criterion could spend years restoring ..
Big Trouble in Little China could happen if Scream strikes another deal with Fox. But Fox might release it again for the cash grab when the remake comes out .. I havent heard anything on Slither..

IIRC, the Carrie issue was that MGM wouldn't allow Shout to restore their negative, apparently because they were worried it might not survive the restoration process or something like that. Very scary if that's the truth.

And I should say, any disappointment people have isn't really because of the titles. The titles were fine announcements, but kind of just felt "expected". I think the only things that could have made people universally enthusiastic would be a Phantasm set or Rotld trilogy set or another VP set.

Anyway, the titles they announced overall were very good, just maybe underwhelming. Definitely not disappointing though.

My problem is less with the titles, and more with the venue. When Scream Factory makes the decision to go to comic con and make a spectacle bringing all sorts of attention to it's business and product line, then I fully expect them to bring their A game. These titles are not representative of anyone's A Game. I don't expect Only triple A big name titles... but it would be nice to have at least one or two that are new to the format in the US. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I'm happy that Scream Factory releases crap along with gold. I like the z-grade stuff occasionally mixed in with the A grade stuff, but the reality is if you're going to put on a show, then people are going to expect some solid announcements. Each and every one of tonight's announcements are great for the occasional Friday update or surprise announcement... they are certainly not what people wanted or expected for a Big budget venue like Comic-Con. If Scream Factory want's to avoid this kind of backlash they can either A) Stop going to Comic Con, thereby removing any/all hype for the event and keeping everyone's expectations in check or B) They can pony up the cash, secure some actual quality titles that carry name recognition and minimize backlash like this from occurring every Comic Con.

This isn't the same group of people that complain about compression day in and day out... this isn't the same group of people that post unrealistic wishlists or demand xyz title.... The people complaining are some of the companies biggest supporters and are the most disappointed. These should be amongst the easiest people to please, yet... here we are again with an underwhelming set of announcements that would have gone over far better during an uneventful weekly announcement than the spectacle that is comic con. People were lead to believe that Scream Factory might actually have something worth hyping up this year, I'd say disappoint right now is more than justified.

I get some people don't import, but its hard to get excited when the movies available on really good Blu ray releases already and you own them. Both the MGM release and the UK of ROTLD are great, do we really need another release with a few slight differences?.

As for Mad Max. That's one of Scream's laziest releases. Again, this movie is already released on Blu ray in many countries and all they offer is different artwork and a new interview. Hell, even the transfer wasn't up to par with previous releases. Very slack and lazy imo.

I know rights issues come into play and the selection of movies they can release is getting smaller, but alot of there announcements lately have been really meh. I'm certainly not as excited with Scream Factory as I used to be.

Oh Booo on this one! It doesn't match any of their other 'Collector Edition' genres at all. Will stick out like a sore thumb on the shelve.

The only title too me that was a disappointment was Garbage Pail Kids. Too me that seems more along the lines of a Shout! release.

I don't have any release of Return Of The Living Dead so I'll get that. I'll also get Blood & Lace and Nightmares.
