It would be amazing if a Scream/Paramount deal happened in the future, and some of the Friday the 13th sequels uncut were a possibility. However, I remember reading something around the time the deluxe editions were released explaining that everything available was on the discs. They did an extensive search of the Paramount vaults, and all the original footage was either lost or destroyed. Whether that is true or not is anyone's guess, but it is possible that we've seen all we are gonna see from the Friday the 13th series. Who knows though? Crazier things have happened. Someone already referenced The Mutilator.

I used to feel otherwise, but I've recently decided that I like Friday the 13th (1980) better than I like Halloween (1978).

More than anything, I like the remote outdoor setting. I also, however, find the characters in that first Friday the 13th movie to be more believable and likable. Finally, the Harry Manfredini music score for that first Friday the 13th really gets under the skin in an insidious way.

On top of that, I also feel that Friday the 13th: Part 2 is the best film of the Friday the 13th franchise, and, therefore, better than both of the above-referenced films by a slim margin.

Don't get me wrong, though... That first Halloween film is a five-star horror film as well, and it really shines due to Dean Cundey's cinematography.

The worst scene in Halloween is like 10 freaking levels above the best in Friday the 13th, IMO. Not even a contest. Not even the same hemisphere.

Opinions. I thought the same until I started rewatching both series recently.

I can actually watch the Friday the 13th sequels (and enjoy a number of them).

You couldn't pay me to rewatch Halloween 4-6 (or Resurrection).

Off topic but I think it would great for Scream/Shout to release collector's editions of The Burbs, Raising Cain, Tales from the Hood, Psycho (1998), The Getaway (1994), The Thing (1982), and Brain Dead/Dead Alive (since Peter Jackson owns the rights he can lease to the highest bidder),

I'd like to see Braindead get a special edition.

I like the original FT13TH the best (in the minority I think) ... it's the only one in the series (to me) that actually has an eerie vibe to it and a sense of dread throughout. No jokes, no camp (no pun intended), and a scary mood. It's a far better film that most people give it credit for...

Of the original 8 Friday the 13th movies, I rank them:
1. Part 4
2. Part 1
3. Part 2
4. Part 6
5. Part 3
6. Part 5
7. Part 7
8. Part 8

I think 4, 1 and 2 are all better than every "Halloween" movie other than the original. I enjoy Halloween 2 and 3, but I think there are 3 or 4 Friday the 13th movies better than them IMO.

Maybe it's just me, but I can't stand the original Friday the 13th.

Big fan of both Halloween and F13, with Halloween 1 and 3 being big favourites and really enjoying 2, but can't really enjoy any past 4

F13 on the other hand, I've enjoyed every one I've seen so far up to 7, haven't watched past it yet, except the first. It feels very dry and poor, the characters all seemed pretty dreadful as was the writing and acting, the end seems silly (Pamela is not even known about), and some scenes go way too long and some are too dark to see anything, at least on the copy I have.

Maybe I'm due a rewatch, previous times I've voiced my opinions people have had pretty convincing rebuttals

Honestly, I would get super hype for a Scream Factory Friday the 13th box set with a 3D Blu-Ray of Part 3 and the uncut version of Jason Goes to Hell. I outright refused to buy the old set that lacked the uncut JGTH but forced me to double dip Jason X and the Platinum Dunes "remake".

Hell, maybe they can use their wizardry they pulled on Nightbreed (and Exorcist III, since evidence points towards them finding the lost footage to that film) and find the actual lost footage of much of the sequels (included the alternate Jason Goes to Hell footage).

I'm 99.9% certain that they only got access to parts 4-8 as the others already been done. The blokes name escapes me at the minute( was it Farrands?) but he said he'd love to go back and have a look for the lost footage for parts 2 & 3 and for me at least that would be enough for me to double double double dip esp part 2 as its my favourite entry and is heavily cut. I also think a uncut print of part 7 exists and that it will be found eventually its just the studio could'nt care less. I would'nt rule out another release as when the rights revert back to paramount it will be probably the only viable option for more money as i doubt they would release them themselves for ages.

I remember loving that movie when it came out, a great comedy-action film, but when I watched it on BD I was thoroughly unimpressed. I think it works best when you're a teenager.
