And for collectors to get just to make sure they got them all. Probably was a cheap movie to release for them.

Pacific Heights is a must! The DVD is so ancient now, The movie deserves much more love.

Really? I remember reading at the time of release Pacific Heights was a nerve wracking thriller with great performances from Keaton, Melanie Griffith and Matthew Modine. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time, especially during the final sequence.
Easily one of my favorite domestic thrillers from the 90's along with Single White Female.

I'm actually surprised so many people find it 'meh'.

Don't know how the movie went in terms of box office, but I don't think that means much anyway.

I wouldn't mind an uncut release of The In Crowd with all the extra naughty bits

Lots of great movies being mentioned but MAN would I love to see Stay Tuned. It was a staple of early 90's HBO and I watched it like a hundred times.

Thanks for the replies and info on what movies that studio has released before. Bad Moon and Exorcist III are definitely two that I want.

Dead Ringers was a good film but not one I have the urge to watch again.

I quite enjoy The In-Crowd, still got the dvd. Was it cut in the us? the dvd got a 12 certificate over here but still had a few boobs in it iirc.

On The Crush i remember fangoria starting a new feature in the early 90s called "its not a horror film" covering films like The Crush, raising Cain etc when it was a fallow time for horror movies. I hated that they covered them at the time but in hindsight they had nothing else to cover tbh. I remember both being just ok but as its been donkeys years since i've seen either im looking forward to both releases now. Still hoping they release Nightwish (1988) though.

Finally got around to checking out Tales From the Crypt Demon Knight tonight... I really love this movie and it just get's better each time I watch it. I have so many good memories of watching in back on VHS when it was first released as well. I consider it the last true great Horror film of the 1980's style before Scream Came Along and killed the genre for a decade.

I wish there were more features on the release, but I did enjoy the Making of Featurette. Billy Zane seems super cool and mentioned that he'd like to see a sequel of the film, something I'd LOVE to see happen. Sadly Hollywood seems completely disinterested in films like this these days so that seems incredibly unlikely.

The film opened in first place at the box office with a $7 million debut ($14 million adjusted) and finished with a $29 million gross ($60 million adjusted). It was the 40th highest grossing film of 1990 so Pacific Heights did rather well (especially in September, the month it opened on).

As for the quality, I like the film too (Keaton adds a lot to his films and it's fun for the surprise cameos) but I can see why some wouldn't like it. It's not scary enough to be a horror film for genre buffs while it's not one of John Schlesinger's magnum opuses (or opusii?) so the arthouse crowd would likely write it off as typical studio fare. But anyway, it's a good thriller with a great soundtrack (this and Pump Up the Volume were probably the first films to feature Soundgarden on the soundtrack) and high quality Keaton.

I see your point and I agree. Definitely not Schlesinger's finest work, but when you compare it to thrillers from the same era with similar plot (outsider comes into a family's life and makes it a living hell) such as Unlawful Entry, Malice, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, etc, I consider Pacific Heights one of the best.

Funny you mention Soundgarden being in the soundtrack, I actually discovered the band thru this film. Hands All Over gave such a nice touch to that creepy finale.

I didn't know about that.

The name was definitely 'Darian' when I saw it on tape back in the 90s.

Haven't seen it since.

I have seen both Assault On Precinct 13 and Class of 1984. The former is pretty much a classic and the latter was pretty good. Just be aware that they are not "horror".

All great films but be warned that the pq of dog soldiers is pretty shoddy... Still worth owning imo

Really enjoyed this one. I found Nancy Loomis/Keyes to be the highlight, such a shame she never did much after this/Halloween/The Fog. She's great in all three!

I liked Class of 1984. Saw it on TV about 15yrs ago and was very happy when I heard Scream was doing the release.
