I'd say no, but then would add that if you don't care enough to own the Scream Factory version I'd be happy to send you my Universal edition plus some extra cash now and you could send me the Shout Factory version later when it arrives. The Universal release is just fine for the movie, but it has nothing for special features or extra content.

This is a film I would like to upgrade but don't love it enough to pay for the double dip at current prices. (especially when so many other titles I don't own in any format have recently came out or are in the pipeline) If you don't care one way or another, the Universal would more then suffice, but unless you want to take me up on my deal, I'd think that since you've waited this long you might as well wait a bit longer.

Forgive me if this has been discussed, but I did a quick search and didn't come up with anything.

Apparently the rights to Bert I Gordon's 1965 film VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS are with Scream Factory. Has there been any discussion regarding this title being released on Blu-ray, one way or the other?

I seem to recall reading about it being broadcast in HD on the MGM HD channel. So if an HD master already exists, it would be a simple matter to put it out. So many of the old MGM Midnight Movies from DVD have been released on Blu by either Scream or Kino Lorber, and this one seems like a natural for release.

It could well be the kind of title released via their forthcoming limited edition, website-exclusive program. Watch this space I guess.

We're supposed to be hearing about those limited titles sometime this month. IIRC, there's 5 or 6 of them.

The Transformers, Bill & Ted, Road House...That's likely the reason why September is kinda light month for Scream. Although, The Thing alone makes it an awesome month.

Is there any likelihood that Scream factory could do a nice Collector's Edition of Flash Gordon (1980)? It's a Universal title, and the Blu could use an upgrade.

My recollection is that VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS aired on TCM with an MGM logo, but I don't recall seeing it on MGM HD. I'd love to buy it on Blu-ray, or even DVD. It was only previously released as a full-frame VHS cassette.

I haven't had MGM HD for several years, so I wasn't sure about that, but I thought I had read that it aired in HD on that channel.

The DVD release, as part of MGM's "Midnite Movies" line, was also full frame. It has never appeared on any physical format in its original aspect ratio (which I believe is 1:66, but might be 1:85).

EDIT: Just checked, and IMDB claims it is 1:85

Are you asking what else they are announcing for September? They seem to announce a title or two a week. we got The Thing then just last week Metalstorm 3D. We may see more announced through the month, it depends on how many they are releasing in September. They generally don't announce a bunch at a time. If you are talking about their fall line-up (Oct-Dec) with the 8-9 CE, those are being announced in July, most likely around comic con and I wouldn't be surprised if they only announce Oct, Nov and let the Dec announcements slip into Aug.

I'm really curious what's coming in Oct-Dec, can't wait!

Just a heads up, http://www.hamiltonbook.com has Deadly Eyes, I, Madman, Dog Soldiers, Sleepaway Camp 2 and 3, Howling 2 and The Outing/Godsend for $9.95-$11.95. Just picked up all of them except SC as I already own those.

Had I literally not just spent $31 to grab Final destination 1-4, Chilling Visions, I Spit on your Grave 3, and Tourist Trap from the Hastings Sale I would have likely jumped on a few of these, but the two I want most Howling II and Dog Soliders come out to $26 shipped, which isn't much in terms of savings considering I can usually get both films for close to that amount on ebay... and given that there is a lot else I still need to grab (DR. Butcher MD I'm looking at you) I think I'll pass. Thanks for sharing though! I'm sure others will grab a few of the titles.

When VILLAGE OF THE GIANTS aired on TCM, it was telecast in either 1;85-1 or 1:66-1. Broadcasts on other networks have always been full-frame.

Nothing new or recent but I finally got around to watching the Howling last night. I've seen a lot of horror movies from that time. I used to have a TV station that was mostly 80s horror movies but I don't think that station isn't around anymore. Either way, for some reason I've never seen the Howling. It was a great werewolf movie! Those transformation scenes were top notch. I think SF did a good job with this one too. Looked a lot more "natural" than some of their other releases.

I love her, too. I just need to get Transformations (1988), as far as moviesshe stars in that are on Blu. It looks downright sad, but she's in it. Hahahaha

Does anyone know if Scream has access to Paramount's back catalogue?

I'd love a collector's edition of Event Horizon with a new transfer (one that isn't vertically stretched!) and the director's cut that was found a few years back on a VHS tape in a salt mine in Transylvania.

I think I've seen this movie once... I don't remember it being all that great.

The Hitcher is one I would love to see Scream get a hold of.

As for People Under the Stairs... I always loved that one. It's all over the place and goofy, but I love it. It will probably be my next Scream factory pickup next month.
