I haven't been following this thread, so I apologize if this is redundant, but last night watching Dead Ringers, I got a bit of a rude surprise.
Like their Child's Play release, Dead Ringers has a "flipped" 2.0 stereo track. They're backwards -- right is left and left, right. Yep, I mean both of 'em. I'm not a dyed-in-the-wool audio purist, exactly, but I do try to recreate the original theatrical experience as best I can with my modest set-up. Please, Scream Factory -- get your shit together. You're doing a lot better than once-upon-a-time, and I definitely appreciate the lack of sharpening on disc 2's transfer of Dead Ringers -- I didn't even find much to complain about vis-a-vis the framing or the wobbling or the non-blue business -- but this sort of basic QC problem occurring twice in short order indicates that something is seriously wrong somewhere. |

Just watched my copy of The Thing - it looked wonderful!
BUT - I tried the 4.1 soundtrack and dialogue was still through the center channel? Same with the 5.1 option. I play from a Panasonic BD player and audio goes through a Marantz receiver. Any thoughts on what might cause this? It is set to "auto" with "Dynamic EQ" off. |

I'd imagine the VHS version is way better as I put it on for like 2 minutes and thought to myself that I could sit through that movie a lot easier with the feeling that it's an 80s slasher rather than a new movie |

I wasn't a fan either. Put it for sale on ebay immediately. The crisp digital look definitely didnt help. It felt too much like a cheap production to me. The acting was horrendous and the story dragged.

Yup that's why I figure a repeat viewing in VHS mode after a while will allow me to enjoy it. Story sure did drag though and that main character chick was wild annoying |

Usually I use headphones but I watched Dead Ringers on a shitty soundbar because my wife wanted to half-watch it, so I didn't notice the flip. Bummer. |

Absolutely agreed. Unfortunately Judgment Night is now owned by Warner so who knows if we'll ever get it on blu now. There's a German Concorde blu ray for it coming out December 8th but I don't know if it's region A compatible.

I have never seen any of the Slumberparty Massacre films, I was planning on buying all three this January. I have a question for those who have seen them. Those Unrated run times seem like quite drastic, over 10 minutes cut from each of them. What was cut? Does it make a big difference, are the theatrical cuts superior? Seems like a bit of a bummer that they are SD and HD/SD hybrids. I guess you can't really complain considering they weren't even going to release those initially because of how poorly the first one sold.
