I love the first one but heard the second and third are so different in tone/story that I'm worried I'll hate them.

The second film was so bad that I'm looking forward to rewatching it as it can only improve. The 3rd film is pretty generic but is more or less a darker reimagining of the first film. I for sure am picking up that release but it definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea.

If you want a fun, worthy sequel to the original film, check out Sorority House Massacre II.

Slumber Party Massacre II is a longtime favorite from back in the Laserdisc days. It's a pretty surreal slasher, going for laughs or "wait, what just happened!?" stupefied reactions more than unnervingly intense stalk and slash. You're right about it being completely different in tone, but if you have the right sense of humor, hopefully you'll walk away loving it as much as I do.

New Years Evil
Thanks, just snagged a copy of this as well. It's a blind buy for me, but that's too good of a price to pass up.

I had a great time watching it. Very kitsch, very 80's. Great soundtrack too.

I bit on New Year's Evil. Realizing more and more I enjoy 80's slashers a lot so might as well.

I am a huge slasher fan but New Year's Evil is not that great. I enjoyed it, but it is very slow paced and more in line with Don't Answer the Phone/Don't Go In The House in that the victims are not important/"characters". The fashion and music makes it a fun watch, and I'm glad to own it. Just go in with realistic expectations!

Anyone know if we can expect one more Shout sale before the end of the year? I missed out on the last one by a day and want to get some pre-orders in.

I wish Shout Factory would release The Beastmaster.

It's fun, but like another poster said, it does drag in some parts. I like it, but it's not a popular slasher.

I'm quite confident we'll see it in 2017. Don Coscarelli seem's to finally be willing to offer up his titles for Blu Ray releases and I would expect that this one (and possibly it's sequels) are right around the corner.

I don't know about Beastmaster two... I got it off PPV back when it came out and I don't remember it being good at all. I haven't see Bubba Ho-Tep. Maybe I should pick that up because I seem to like Coscarelli's films. There is always something "different" about them.

Yeah I always really enjoyed the original film but only saw bits and pieces from part 2 and was never impressed enough to sit down and watch it. I would think that a Collectors Edition of the original is a sure thing if Scream Factory could work a deal and a double feature release of the sequels would follow shortly there after.

I was happy to get the original but don't think I would go for those. I hope they release the female version though, whatever it was called (Barbarian Queen?).

I'd go for Barbarian Queen, Warrior and the Sorceress, or Amazons.

I'm also still hoping Scream presses another 1000 copies of the Deathstalker/Deathstalker 2 double feature since it sold so well.

We have it out on blu-ray here, but it's locked to B.

Oooh I should import that. Of course once I do someone in the US or UK will announce a better edition.
