So want the Hitcher too. Figured the blah remake was keeping that from happening. But YES Criterion would be fantastic. Warner has been releasing some nice old titles lately, so maybe there's hope.

Really hoping something turns up, it's definitely up there in my wishlist since I'd like to get all the old Empire films in HD.
I hope you don't mind, but I went on Scream Factory's facebook and let them know of you idea. Who knows, maybe they will get lucky and find a print. It's a fun movie, and I too would love to get all of the Empire films in HD widescreen.

The next two on my want list are Enemy Territory and The Caller.

Another one off the top of my head...When a Stranger Calls Back from 1993. In a lot of ways better than the first one, imho.

i'm p excited for Tales From the Hood. Scream doesn't seem to have a regular schedule so it could pop up anytime. No problem waiting, though.

Sucks about Arena not having elements yet. I too like a lot of Empire stuff. One thing got me thinking though, Empire produced Arena if I'm not mistaken. My point is that I personally can't imagine elements lost, I'm sure they can be tracked down and located, found yet. It's kind of a obscure title imo. Hence why no real effort to locating original elements. Love the movie though, hope later this year we see it.

Anticipating The Vangrant, Angry Red Planet, Tales from the Hood, Virus. I wouldn't be surprised if Tales from the Hood is a collectors edition. For some reason if Scream got TFTH, can't they get The Hitcher also? I hope we get that later this year as well.

YES. I'd also the other Derek Rydall-starrer, Night Visitor. It's so bad, it's wonderful.

Speaking of Empire Pictures, I just picked up the recently-released MGM Limited Edition DVD of Spellcaster, which was a blind buy, for $19.99. This was an impulse buy, since I wouldn't usually pay that much for a DVD in 2016, but I've always wanted to check it out so I splurged on it. Is anyone here a fan of this film? Why is MGM even bothering with releasing random DVDs when they've been farming everything out and why hasn't Shout Factory or anyone else bothered to pick it up?

Tales from the Hood is a Showtime title, not HBO. It was distributed through Universal which is why Scream Factory were able to get it. It's also already been announced to be a Collectors Edition. We should see the new artwork by mid January. The artist has already completed it and submitted it to Scream Factory, so I imagine it's unveiling and the announcement of Special Features will be amongst the first of their announcements in 2017.

Really? I had the VHS back in the day and I am almost positive it was HBO.

The DVD carried an HBO logo but the current arrangements have it with Showtime for whatever reason. It's also included in the Showtime streaming pass currently. I'm unable to post the poster directly, but it shows up with the showtime logo on Amazon.

It's something else with a very WTF cast. Richard Roundtree, Michael J. Pollard, Elliott Gould (!!), Shannon Tweed, etc. The tone is the complete opposite of what the filmmakers were going for, the music used is truly terrible, and the ending is such a groaner that it's hilarious. Great stuff. The DVD is cheap and totally worth buying.

Tales from the Hood is part of the Savoy Pictures library. HBO used to have a distribution agreement in place with Savoy Pictures, but that arrangement ended a long time ago. In 2006, the library was sold to Universal Pictures / Focus Features.
